I can't imagine how good the Braves could be if BJ and Uggla could or would start hitting.

Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
Well it's no coincidence that since Heyward moved to leadoff (where he should be given his OBP and the lack of any other options on the roster) and JUpton to #2 and Simmons all the way down to #8, they have gone on a tear. From top to bottom, it's one very difficult lineup to navigate for opposing pitchers. And virtually everyone will be back next year (minus McCann), so it should be fun.bdunn13 wrote:I can't imagine how good the Braves could be if BJ and Uggla could or would start hitting.
Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
The nats are just sucking Offensively and defensively. Too many errors, not enough hitting, blah blah blah. The pitching has been decent, except for Dan Haren.
I don't know if last year everyone just had career years all at the same time and this is the come down, or if as db sort of implied, this is just the down year for everyone and next year they rock the Division.
I believe they are near the bottom in the NL for offense, whereas last year they were near the top in most categories, at least power wise.

Exactly! I'm curious to see how Cobb and Moore will look when they come back, it will make for an interesting last month of the season.

Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
Well whatever the reason...I'm enjoying it this year. Lol. They pretty much just buried them for the season now. Braves have just b*tch slapped them all over the diamond all year. And the a braves have the easiest schedule in the league over the last two months. Only two series against winning teams so it pretty much explains why they struggle for a few months...they were playing a ridiculously hard schedule.Gangrel wrote:The nats are just sucking Offensively and defensively. The Rays can't get out of Arizona fast enough! Whooped worse than Joe Pesci in the desert in the movie Casino. Martin Prado went into Beast Mode vs Rays.

Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
Dammit. Even when the Mets are terrible, they still f*ck with the Braves. Heyward gets drilled in the face by Neise today and now is out 4-6 weeks. BRUTAL right now. Heyward had been hitting well over .400 since moving to the leadoff spot 20 games ago and now he's gone for essentially the rest of regular season. Just a horrible break (no horrible pun intended). He was finally hitting his stride and becoming the player all of us Braves fans envisioned a few years back when he broke through. Dammit dammit dammit.

Yeah I saw it and was hoping for the best for him. Unfortunately I just read that it was a fracture.dbdynsty25 wrote:Dammit. Even when the Mets are terrible, they still f*ck with the Braves. Brutal way to lose a no no for the Cards. Wow.

No Yankee fan,but that was a class moment having Jeter and Petite come and get Mo in the top of the 9th. A feel good moment one doesn't forget.
Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
The Rays almost chocked a 7-0 lead against the Jays but they pulled a much needed win to force a game on Monday vs the Rangers to see which team advances for a wild card spot. I think they can pull it off and face the Indians.
Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
Surprised more of you aren't talking MLB Playoffs. The Cardinals worked their butt off to get home field in the NL, but now are up against the ropes. I'm fearing game 4 with a rookie starter (Wacha).
Pirates fans have turned PNC Park into a nice home advantage. We gotta score some runs for our guy or another promising season will go down the tubes.
I will say that if St. Louis can't get it done, I would really like the Pirates to win it all. Their fans deserve it and with teams like the Red Sox and Yankees trying to buy championships, it would be great to have Pittsburgh hoist the WS Trophy. They have built their team the right way.

The way the Dodgers are hitting...it ain't happening. Just absolutely murdering the ball right now. Unfortunately for the Braves.bulls23 wrote:I will say that if St. Louis can't get it done, I would really like the Pirates to win it all. Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
Talk about hitting, the A's can really crank it up too. I like their chances, last year you could say that they were too young but they got a good mix here.
Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
Glad I was wrong about Wacha! What a performance (no hitter thru 7+) and Matheny got him out of the game at just the right time. These Cardinals rookies and sophomores are flat out amazing. Credit to the Cardinals farm system and scouting. St. Louis is a blueprint on how to build an organization. I feel spoiled in a way as a fan to think we are one win away from 3 straight NLCS appearances, but the way it's been done with the perfect mix of veterans and young players, it's satisfying. What was that guy named Pujols thinking of leaving this team?
Feeling good about Game 5 with our ace on the hill.

Wacha Wacha WOW!! Cards have their number 2 for years to come barring an injury. What a performance. Nice to see Holliday come up with a clutch home run.

Indeed! Thank Pujols for that one!sportdan30 wrote:Wacha Wacha WOW!! Cards have their number 2 for years to come barring an injury. What a performance. Nice to see Holliday come up with a clutch home run.

That sucked. Hell, I wish they'd just get over it and suck enough NOT to get into the post season. Because they always do this s***.

Correct. Atlanta is loserville when it comes to pro sports.Teal wrote:That sucked. Hell, I wish they'd just get over it and suck enough NOT to get into the post season. Because they always do this s***.
All three of my favorite pro sports teams played Monday night... all three lost.
Hawks (opening preseason game), Falcons and Braves....
At least Kimbrel (the best closer in baseball), will be rested in the spring...
and the Falcons are still suffering for the trade that brought them Julio Jones.. there are so many holes on that team that could have been filled with those draft picks.

Don't you mean Matt Adams has BREASTS. Good god bro...mix in a salad. And thanks to TBS for giving me the slow motion view of the fantastic gut flopping in the breeze during the home run swing. Bravo.MizzouRah wrote:Go Cardinals!!! What a game by Waino tonight.. and Matt Adams is a BEAST!
That said, I really hope they beat the Dodgers. I hate nearly every active player on the roster. Kemp and Either (who only pinch hits now) are the only likable Dodgers as far as I'm concerned. And LA fans...what CAN'T I say about them. I haven't seen a Dodger sticker or flag all summer and all of the sudden they win one game and cars are all over the place with Flags and stickers. Kinda reminds me of all of the Laker dynasties...used to see flags all over the place. Now I don't see a single one. I hate LA fans. The bandwagon is bigger than the scores of fake tits on Manhattan Beach.

Re: MLB 2013 Season Thread
Yeah, "Big City" is going to have to shed some weight if he expects to have a long career, with minor injuries. Prince Fielder? But Adams sure can park a ball in the seats fast when he squares up on one. Adams at first, Craig in right, Holliday in left, and perhaps Oscar Tavares in Center next year has the makings of an amazing lineup. Bring on MLB The Show 14!!!!
Great pitching performance last night by both Wainwright (old Atlanta farmhand
) and Cole. Cole is going to be a stud for years to come. If Freese doesn't hit a mistake hanger, I don't think the Cards would have scored off Cole by putting consecutive hits together.
I don't feel very confident about the Dodger series. Their pitching is a step above the Cardinals, who have too many unproven starters. Plus that lineup is pretty damn formiddable. I do like the Cards bullpen if they can get there with a lead. The Cards have to start hitting again, and it all starts with Matt Carpenter, who hit in to some tough luck yesterday and was a non-factor all series.
Hoping the Cards can knock off the 220 million dollar payroll!!!! Can't wait for game 1.

Oh, please. I bet Atlanta had TONS of Braves fans flying team flags all season longdbdynsty25 wrote:Don't you mean Matt Adams has BREASTS. Good god bro...mix in a salad. Same goes for the LA Kings. I even have a Kings flag, have had a few in the past, I rarely ever fly it. I generally only do it for special occasions, like say, THE PLAYOFFS! I have a Kings tattoo but no one can see it. I own around a dozen Kings jerseys yet I only wear them to games.
LA has always supported the Dodgers, minus the last couple years of McCourt and that was out of protest (Even in 2011, they were 11th overall). I hate when people assume that if you aren't wearing a jersey, baseball cap, and cleats out in public 365 days a year you aren't a real fan. I hate when people say that flying a car flag or wearing your team jacket out during the playoffs means you are a bandwagon fan. It's total BS. People get into the spirit of things more when a team is winning and in the playoffs. That's just the way most people are. It doesn't mean they aren't real fans. They just don't feel the need to show it all the time.
To suggest that Dodger fans are all bandwagoners is ridiculous. This is a MASSIVE city. Millions of of people live here and a lot of them are die hard fans and a lot of them are casual fans and even more probably don't give a crap about sports. When teams are winning the casual fans will get more into it, but that DOESN'T mean that their aren't a ton of very loyal fans out there.
I find it funny that a fan of the Suns, Braves, and Dolphins would criticize LA for having lousy fans. The Braves can't sell out playoff games and the Suns and Dolphins traditionally have relatively poor attendance when the teams aren't winning. At least the Dodgers can say they are in the top 10 (and usually top 5) in attendance every single year regardless of the on-field product.
