Been watching some more XBox One vids and TitanFall really looks impressive. The multiplayer video in the IGN Int review below is great. I like at the 4:25 mark where the guy from IGN gets caught off guard by the ability to catch and throw bullets. He just interjects mid sentence with a "that was awesome."

I almost started a thread for this game. This would give me a reason to get a Xbone, though my new PC relieves that. I'm hoping these guys can rekindle the magic of MW1. I also really liked what he had to say about MP focus, and how many people don't play the SP or just try to get it over with as quickly as possible, whereas people play MP 100s of hours. Music to my ears...

So Gamestop is going to let you upgrade a select few games to next gen for $10 if you buy them on current gen. M25, Fifa 14, BF4, AC Black something or the other and one of the call of dukies.

Also saw that the DVR feature on XB1 will require gold membership not that it matters to me.

Xbox One will ship with bundled chat headset, 4K HDMI cable

Microsoft will include an Xbox One chat headset and a 4K-rated HDMI cable in the box when the system ships this November, the company confirmed today in an unboxing video of a "Day One" edition of its next-generation console. Previously, Microsoft indicated it would not pack in a headset with Xbox One, suggesting that Kinect's microphone array would serve as an alternative for in-game chat and Skype calls.

The included HDMI cable is of the Category 2 variety, said Microsoft's Albert Penello, director of product planning for Xbox One. The cable is rated for 1080p, 3D and 4K output, according to the HDMI 1.4 spec.

Penello shared a few more details about Xbox One, explaining that the console's built-in wireless radio supports A/B/G/N protocol and dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. Plugging a micro-USB cable into the Xbox One controller for wired gameplay also deactivates the gamepad's internal radio, transmitting data through the wire. "You can even use the controller without batteries in this mode," Penello explains.

The contents of the Xbox One Day One limited edition package include the console itself, the Kinect sensor, a branded Day One controller, a chat headset, HDMI cable, power supply and a redeemable code for a Day One-exclusive achievement.

The Xbox One chat headset weighs 44 grams, according to Microsoft, and features a bendable, rotating mic boom. The headset's speaker and microphone have been upgraded to take advantage of Xbox One's improved audio quality, the company says, which boasts three times the sampling rate of Xbox 360 voice chat.

In today's hardware detail update, Microsoft reiterated some of the previously known Xbox One specs, which include a 500 GB hard drive, slot load Blu-ray optical drive, IR blaster port, HDMI input/output connectors, a S/PDIF interface, new Kinect sensor port, three USB 3.0 ports, wired and wireless network support and a Kensington security slot.

Is Sony's strategy to wait until XB1 announces something and then develop a counter strategy that makes them look good? If this is not the case then I don't know why we don't get any PS4 news until after an XB1 announcement.

I've got a strong feeling we won't be seeing the PS4 until December.

That seems to be exactly what they've done pretty much all along. "So what did MS say they were going to do today? Oh, okay, then we'll announce that we won't do that. What did MS say they weren't going to do? Okay, let's announce that we will."

It's sounding kinda sophomoric, honestly.

Sony hasn't had to repeatedly reverse themselves on their system quite as much as their competitor has since E3, so they seem relatively quiet in the announcement department.

MS hasn't HAD to reverse themselves...they just have. And mostly because of Sony's "lets wait to see what MS does and then we'll change our stance on the fly" routine.

Could be why the Gamestop $10 trade up for the next gen version was announced only for xbox 360/xbox One.

I wish this was a launch title. Still I can't wait to get my hands on the Xbox One.

If that happens, that could be a nice momentum swing for Xbox, as some of the early adopters may jump for the system that is out first.

Given how MS has handed XB1 announcements, that's a pretty sound PR strategy. If your competitor is hell bent on dousing itself with gasoline, why not wait to light the match until the gas can is empty?

Yeah, especially when they've had the exact same things in place until the last second...and in this case, gleefully lighting the match and throwing ON them while hiding that they, indeed, had the exact same things in place until the last second. One wonders how much money Sony is gonna eat per console by taking this "we're the un-whatever MS is doing" approach...

I think what Sony is doing is taking a position somewhere between Nintendo's "all about games" approach and MS's desire to make the XBOne an entertainment hub for consumers and changing how gamers access their games. Sony's approach seems more like what we saw between the PS2/PS3, a bigger step up in terms of capabilities without really shaking up the console gaming model.

There may in fact be very little difference between the PS4/XB1 other than a bolted-on Kinect and how the different online networks operate. But MS's features and requirements have seemed (emphasis on that word) more complicated or convoluted than Sony's. When it comes to marketing a product that's not out yet, that perception will become the reality, at least in the short term.

In practical terms, neither console seems really hampered right now as preorders are pretty high.

Preorders may be high but we'll see what kind of sustained sales they have.

The Wii U actually set records for most shipped in the first weekend or month, more than the Wii. But sales have plummeted since.

There should be enough hardcore gamers to keep sales of the PS4/X1 going but wouldn't be surprised if they never reach current gen. levels.

Just about every new gaming device introduced since the current generation has bombed. The 3DS has sold well but it needed a price cut less than a year after release.

It might be due to mobile but then, the Ouya has bombed and Project Shield probably will too.

But there are rumors of Google and now Amazon working on Android consoles.

These consoles are a little different. While we may not see PS2-level sales again, the 360 and PS3 wound up doing well over their lifetimes despite some serious initial challenges (cost on Sony's part, build quality on MS's part, availability vs. demand for both in the early months). Nintendo has turned into a hot mess as far as consoles have gone. The handheld devices have to compete with mobile gaming, whereas console games don't face as much direct competition from them. The PS4 and XB1 really only face direct competition from PC gaming. Of course, maybe people will not support them in the long run, but given that pre-order numbers are apparently much higher than the 360/PS3 launches bodes well for now.

That's been my dilemma. I built a steam box and couldn't be happier with crazy graphics all maxed out. I may get the newer consoles but I have no urge whatsoever to buy now. The other thing is the price on games. I got a bucket load of great games on steam for the cheap and going down the path of $60 console games is part of the reason as well.

I think the best time if one is patient is 1-2 years after the launch. By then the slim versions are usually out and all the AAA games are on clearance for at or below $20.

That's great news! Now my kids can log on with their own accounts to game on live. They don't play on live much, so I never bought them separate gold accounts.

Here is a longer video on Project Spark:

Not sure I'll have the time and patience to create, but it could be fun to see and play through user created content.

It may be sound strategy and may even be what some people want to hear. However I would really like to know what I am getting.

MS has come out with information and whether that information is good or bad is a matter of ones personal opinion. However what I do have with XB1 is a lot of knowledge on what I am getting and even an unboxing video. What I know about the PS4 is relatively nothing.

So while this "PS4 is for the gamer" thing might work on the simple minded who are easily excited, I'd personally like to know what the f*** the PS4 is about and frankly they look like they don't want to tell us.

Maybe that works for you but frankly not for me.
