Hossa had a herniated disc in his back and couldn't feel his legs at times. Shaw looked unconscious after taking that puck to the face. Missed one shift. Jagr was clearly messed up but kept coming back all night. These hockey players are tough.

Danimal wrote:Now that I am calm let me relate a story from last night to show how crazy I am.

I'm watching the game in my family room. This is significant because I have a 10 foot 1080P screen in a theater room downstairs and my kids are in bed upstairs so I can't be noisy. However every game I watched from this spot in the playoffs they have won. If I go elsewhere they lose. I know, crazy.

3rd period 1-1 maybe 10-11 minutes left. Wife comes and sites next to me.

Me: "What are you doing"
Wife: "I want to sit next to you and watch"
Me: "Ok but if Boston scores your leaving"

Boston scores
Wife: "Should I leave?"
Me: "Nah it's ok" but I am thinking please go away.

Phone rings with 1:36 left she takes it and goes into the other room.

First goal, I give the silent run around the room. Trying not to wake anyone up.

Second goal, I can't contain myself and start yelling. Somehow kids don't wake up. 10 seconds later wife comes into the room. I grab a pillow and chuck it at her head and scream "Get out! You can't come back in here for another minute".

Game over. I give it a 2 minute grace period in case she comes back and something odd happens.

My kids laughed for 10 minutes when we told them this story at breakfast.
  Dan.
Ive done the silent run around the room many a time watching the Epl at 430am

Yes the silent run and fist pump[ followed by high fiving the couch cushion is an art form. Hopefully never to be captured on camera.

I'm in full on withdrawal its the first time in 2 months I can't put on channel 220 and catch a game.

I remember that beautiful sensation when the Oilers made it all the way to Game 7 of the Finals in 2006, Danimal. It's like a drug -- a beautiful high.

Oh, how I long to feel that emotional attachment again. I'm jealous as hell of you f*ckers.

A truly fantastic piece by Bob Verdi. Great descriptions of the locker room celebration.

For the non-Chicagoans, Verdi is a legend from the last great generations of daily columnists.

Yeah good luck everything was sold out by 7am. Some guy went into the local Dicks and bought ever hat, according to them several thousand. I am sure he plans to flip them at the parade Friday.

Apparently some of the Hawks brought the Cup to the Rush show in town tonight. This is clearly some sort of Canadian apocalypse.

It's about damn time the Oilers used one of their early first-round picks to draft a big, strong defenseman instead of another offensive smurf.

Darnell Nurse will help this team. He's also Donovan McNabb's nephew, so there's sort of a Syracuse connection! :)

PK, apparently the Oilers were right in the mix offering more than their first pick for Schneider including a second pick and prospect but M. Gillis just didn't want to be facing a guy that would stone the Canucks eventually while playing in the same division.

Goalie still remains a huge need. Dubnyk is not a consistent, quality everyday NHL starter, and Khabibulin is shot.

Apparently the Oilers really felt they made better offer.

I also saw a claim the Oilers offered the #7 and Dubnyk for Bobrovsky.

Lastly, the Oil was pressing hard for Coburn.

Struck out on all 3. I'm just a little disappointed we didn't see more trades today as the all the buzz was all hell could break loose.

Oh, I definitely think that the Oilers was a better offer. They picked at the 7th spot while Canucks got the Jersey pick at #9 so they would have still gotten Bo Horvat a good two way centreman.

But playing in the same division and facing Schneids at least 6 times during the season was just too much to stomach for the GM.

Yep. Jones and Weber on the same blue line should make foes afraid. Very afraid.
