Don't think i've played an NCAA game since 2010 so was a little surprised last night when I selected Heisman level and went straight to my old bread and butter out of the gate. Shotgun formation, with 2 wr's and TE on the right and they all cut across the middle. Hike the ball drop back...my throw is already pre determined...I'm not looking to see his open...I know before I press a button i'm hitting the TE as soon as he's in the middle of the field and it went off without a hitch. Two plays later, Johnny football runs in for a score. 3 plays on the drive and 7pts on the All American level. I'll be shocked if I actually purchase this game. I'll get the early release, and play one quick season over a weekend and that will be that.

Ya it sure does have the same been there done that feeling. that was one negative from the demo. It was almost like this is the same stuff I've been playing 3 years ago. I was even considering keeping the demo on my hd and just playing that if I get a ncaa football fix. Maybe i'll do that instead of buying the game.

So I'm not that good of a player. 5 games on Heisman, 5 wins.

I'm a little concerned because I like the way the game plays but man I want to think I can lose once in a while

I feel about the same way. Was planning on getting this to join some friends in Online Dynasty, but the demo may have changed my mind.

The most fun I've had with a football video game lately was Madden on the Wii U, using the gamepad to call plays, change formations and hot routes. Maybe I'll wait until next year to see the new next gen controls, whether it be the touchscreen on the PS4 controller or a Kinect2 that can properly respond to my voice for audibles.

Smooth is how I would sum up my first experience playing the demo. The game is definitely less herky jerky than it's been. Definitely feels and looks better than any NCAA game I've played in years....on the field that is.

With that said, EA simply doesn't get understand how to implement realistic looking presentation. The intro scenes showing the two teams pitted against one another is stupid, crowds are too quiet except in the beginning of the game, cut scenes are improved but still fall flat, commentary is robotic, still too much lull in terms of broadcast commentary between plays, rather than showing a 80,000 seat crowd going hog wild, EA would rather focus on six fans models who are not as detailed as the player models.

On the field, it looks great, but the overall product fails to deliver.

Well I jnixed myself. I lost 3 games on heisman in a row.

I don't get the same old game feel from this. It feels entirely different on the field to me.

Good luck trying to sneak a pass into a covered receiver. I got picked 3 times.

Much better game and gives me hope that Madden is even better this year.

Maybe I'm too used to the NHL series, but I think NCAA has a great presentation package compared to their other games. :)

I played one quick game as Oregon just to check out the new read option stuff, and I have to say after my little taste it does seem to be way, way better, and it's certainly a hell of a lot of fun. From what little I've learned about read option in the past year (thanks to RGIII, that's been more than nothing), they seem to be reasonably realistic as to how it works, whom you should read, and how the execution can confuse the defense. Maybe not 100% accurate, but it's pretty cool. And I should also mention that AI Johnny Football beat me more than once on the read option himself as I was playing the defensive end, being the guy who was set free and being read by the ball handler. I got burned a few times.

I'm curious to see some different types of option offenses and to see how they work. I love running options in NCAA and if they work more realistically and function better, all the more reason for me to spend some time playing this game.

Otherwise while I do wish there were much greater changes to things such as the kicking game or D Line play (breaking blocks is not the most engaging form of gameplay in these football games), there does seem to be quite a few tweaks and differences, not least of which would be the feeling of weight to the players.

One thing I wonder about is if the "all streaks" money play that plagued the last two yeas is somehow fixed. I really enjoyed the NCAA version of be a pro mode as a QB, but at some point it just became way too easy to get out of a third and long with the "all streaks" play for a long TD.

That said, the handful of times I played online against another person the lastnfew years have all been great, and I'm willing to bet that won't get any worse.

The gameplay is better but just the experience at least for me is the same. Maybe it's time for me to try the next gen one in 2014.

I will not read a sports game review by one of those sites ever again. I read DSP thoughts, and occasionally, Op Sports. Mostly, I just buy what I like, and don't worry whether some other dude likes it or not.

WTH? Just as I was ready to play the early release after the main menu, a notice came that the game had timed out on me. No play.

That's weird. I popped on and joined a party of four friends all playing the game without issues.

I played one online game. The only problem was a good amount of lag. It was very playable, but not as smooth as the last few versions. It will need some tweaking, but we had a great game.

Thanks. Another BS decision by EA. So now instead of 3 days, we get maybe 2 or only one? If this continues no way in hell I am renewing my ST.

Impressions at OS seem relatively positive, but am reading quite a few luke warm posts. Lag, bland presentation, some gameplay bugs, etc. Think I'll play it safe and rent this one for now.

Reviews don't bother me much.. I just find it funny with EA sports games (I love NCAA FB and NHL) that over the years reviewers are starting to call them out for lack of innovations to their games. Get a new commentary team for goodness sakes (looking at you too NHL) amongst other things. :)

The game play is getting good feedback, but the game is still the same NCAA game we have all played for years.

You actually read reviews/impressions over at OS? I just go there for roster downloads and the occasional preview video.

It is definitely the same NCAA game we have all played for years. I was hoping to at least get an in-game save, but I guess that is just too powerful of a feature for this generation of EA Sports games. I cannot wait for the PS4's suspend feature.

I played on PS3 for a few hours last night. It's fun (mainly because it's football) and slightly improved over last year. I did notice some slowdown but it wasn't anything I couldn't live with. The graphics are very blah but I'm used to that in the series by now. I can see die-hard college football fans getting it...just not sure I'm in that boat. However, I would like to have something to hold me over until Madden PS4, but I'm on vacation next week and not sure I can make it to TRU (haven't seen any other sales yet).

If you like playing the series, you'll like this game but as others said it really offers nothing new. Graphics wise, NCAA 11 looks better than this years version except for the more vibrant colors in 14. I skipped last year so not sure if this was in, but the only new thing I saw was when you ice the kicker, the kick meter turns into frozen ice where you can't see the bar go up that well. I was hoping for a playoff mode this year but it's not in there.

For now, I'm sticking with my NCAA 11 just because it's still fun to play.
