The game of basketball has just gotten too physical. They cannot call the game in which the rule books are written. It has gone too far to ever come back.

I blame it on the Pistons and Knicks of the late 80's to early 90's. They got the reputation as good, hard defensive teams while all they were doing were pretty much mugging the opposition. Soon, teams saw what they were doing, and started doing the same. Now it is commonplace which equates to ugly basketball.

Not to go into a "good ol' days" rant but when I played, you knew if you pretty much touched the offensive player when they had the ball, it was a foul. We learned to move our feet and not reach. Now every level, on every play, a foul call could be called but it is not. I go to my kids' high school team games and I don't even recognize the game.

Meanwhile, Stern is trying to negotiate his last TV contract, double the dollar value of the current one, on his way out.

Great Game. Actually crap game 1st 3 qtrs great 4th qtr.

I like Lebron being classy, not celebrating like last year, but congrat to the Spurs players.

Popovich classy as well.

Damn, that must hurt though. You had the title won last night, slipped away.

Manu - goat of the night. some really bad turnovers.

Honestly I think I've watched a total of 15 minutes of it and I saw that ugly looking dude with the big nose on the Spurs turn the ball over like 20 times. Hey if you're paying guy to jump and throw the ball to the other team can I have a try out? :D

Good second half after a rough start. Too much Bad Manu and too much NBA Jam Battier. Hate that the Heat repeated but the Spurs just blew too many opportunities tonight on loose balls, turnovers, and easy baskets.

Yeah, he was shockingly arrogant. Never seen him like that. I think the media is getting to him. Even though he says he doesn't care, he clearly does.

Yeah I agree that speech is not his style and it was almost like he got egged on by the media. But like Jalen Rose and Magic said afterwards you can't question his legacy no more. I always thought it was going to be a 7 game series because the Spurs are too good and Pop is one helluva coach. I think Spo needs some credit to for how he adjusted and countered what the Spurs were doing throughout the series. You expect that from the Spurs but it was nice to see Spo not getting out coached by one of the best.

I'll say this if it had been a really nasty team in the Finals who just hated the Heat like the Bulls or Pacers it do, could have been a different results.

That's BS. You're buying into the media narrative that the Spurs aren't tough enough because Duncan, Parker and Ginobili are team-oriented, classy guys instead of "me, me, me" woofers.

That core group has won three titles in the last decade -- that takes plenty of toughness. And Pop is probably the nastiest, most gifted coach on the sidelines in the NBA.

The Heat's defense was particularly good last night. They looked a lot faster on their rotations and gave the Spurs few good looks at the basket. LeBron played like an MVP and Wade looked like his old self, while Battier made up for the rotting corpse of Chris Bosh. Also hard for the Spurs to win when Green and Parker shot so miserably, even if Leonard has a big game.

Like Rod says, you have to give LeBron his due. He had a fantastic season and carried the Heat in a lot of the postseason games when Bosh and Wade fell apart.

You totally misunderstood what I said. I wasn't talking about toughness, I was referring to outright ready to brawl and outright hatred between two teams. The kind of nasty hatred you saw between the Heat/Bulls/Pacers. The Heat had respect for the Spurs and you didn't see the outright and the mega flagrant fouls and throwdowns you saw when the Heat/Bulls and Pacer played.

Which made The Finals a far better series than the Bulls-Heat and Pacers-Heat matchups. It was proper basketball.

Yes it was indeed and both teams had the proper respect for each other. I don't think D-Wade could have endured another physical series like the Bulls and Pacers. It was also nice to see Lebron and D-Wade go over to Pop when it was over.

Ugh, Heat win 2nd straight title, or I should say, Spurs gave Heat 2nd straight title. SA might as well put a bow on it.

Merry F**** Christmas LeBron.

This series reminded me of the '86 Mets and how they should have lost to Boston. Thank you Bill Buckner :)

It looks like Doc is going to the Clippers. There goes Boston for the next 5 years.

Boston was in full rebuilding mode anyway...you don't pay a coach 7 mil a year to rebuild over the next few years. It makes sense.

Good move for the Clippers by only having to give up one pick. Worth it because they have the talent to win right now, they just need someone to put it all together.

Actually, the trade is seen at least partly as a move to retain Paul, who's a free agent.

Partly? That was ENTIRELY to retain Paul. Paul said he would likely leave if they didn't find a way to get Doc and he pushed, and pushed HARD for it. Do you really think cheap ass Donald Sterling would want to pay a coach 7 mil per? Hell no.
