Poll: DSP Next Gen Choices

Post by Naples39 »

I think it's pretty clear which way the wind is blowing around here, but why not?

EDIT: By putting "this holiday season" I meant what you will be buying this year during the "launch window", and not including "I'll try it eventually" plans. Basically how db responded.

I'll have both eventually most likely but the PS4 is the first purchase and I probably won't get the XBone until later next year so PS4 fo sho!

I just posted this in another thread, but since i'm here, I'm leaning towards PS4, but I'm more likely to hold off a while for a few reasons:

NCAA 14
GTAV
NHL 14

None of which will be on the new consoles at launch.

It is a sign of my growing age that new consoles have been released and I am both undecided and kind of meh on both after braving freezing temps waiting in lines to get a 360 when they came out.

I choose both because i will get both. If this was which one are you getting at launch right now its PS4 but that could change.

Yeah, I would change the poll to specify "at launch" because I think a lot will get both eventually.

I am likely to get both at some point, but if I were only getting one it would most likely be Xbone at this point. But there is a lot of time before either actually hit the shelves, so I'm sure lots more info will come out in the coming months that would solidify or change my preference.

Leaning Xbone, which is just the latest in an ever-growing list of sentences that would have made no sense just a few years ago.

Not purchasing either at launch and won't get one until the systems have been out for a good 6-12 months, going to let everyone beta test them for me before making the final decision on which one to buy. Meant to vote none but hit the none with a good pc by mistake.

I'm probably in the same camp here.

I'm in no hurry. I won't be buying anything at launch, never have, never will. At some point, I'll buy one, and I'm leaning pretty heavily toward Xbox One, but that could change by the time I get something. But until support for 360 starts drying up, I'll just hang on to that one, and let others blow money on the new shinies.

What, I thought you were a LOCK for an XONE @ launch?

I preordered a PS4, i'll have to wait and see what games are coming out so I could cancel if the launch titles look and feel like the current gen. Eventually i'll have both consoles.

Nah. I really like the Xbox One, and will probably get it...at some point. But I don't buy systems at launch. The 360 was the earliest purchase I've made on a console, and that was several months after launch.

PS4 for me.

Possibly Xbone later if they reduce/remove their DRM and ownership restrictions, or sell games at drastically reduced prices to match their 'Expiring Entertainment' model.

Exactly my reasons for picking up a PS4 at launch and skipping the Xbox. Microsoft is going to have to have multiple, A list exclusives for me to participate in what they are trying to do with their DRM.

None at launch or the holiday season. Waiting for the inevitable $100 price cut on both, and then I'll consider one of them.

Pre-ordered the PS4. Pretty sure will end up with both consoles in a couple of years.

If I go for a console it will probably be a PS4, though I'm in no hurry to jump in. I'm more interested in a Steam box or building an HTPC than either system at the moment.

I'm going with None but will eventually have one probably in late 2014 or 2015.

I'm so used to XB360 now that I'm sort of a semi-xbox fanboy at times. But with all the issues with ownership, I'm leaning towards PS4.

But it's all theory right now. Let's wait and see what games come out and what games play better on what system.

Okay well now I just voted wrong.... I voted leaning XBO but after paying attention it says this holiday season. So change mine to NONE.

Im with Vader. Not happening til they have been out a while and I know whats what and who is playing where.

At this point in my console gaming life, Im 90+% about the Live experience. Ice Dragons hockey and racing games with buddies. The other 5-10% I can do on either anyway.

Not sure if I'll get it right at Launch but i'll get the XB1 within the first few months. I may even get both of them in that same time frame. I will definitely own both at some point.

PS4 only. No reason for me to get XBone, the ridiculous DRM and unnecessary media/social network crap that I will never use means I don't need it. There will be some exclusives (Forza) I would miss, but there is no way I am supporting Microsoft with their hubris.

XBONE for sure. The sad thing is at launch it won't have anything worth playing. I'll be busy playing GTAV, and NHL for some Ice Dragon gaming.

I'll also purchase a PS4, but I won't be in any hurry to do so.

I voted both as that is my plan for now. I ended up with both systems this generation (though I have only played a few PS3 games) so I don't see why it will be any different next generation. I'm definitely getting the Xbox One and Forza 5 at launch and already have them pre-ordered. I waited a few days on the PS4 to pull the trigger but I ordered one from Amazon and it got bumped to a release day pre-order the day after I ordered the "standard" model. Of course something could come up between now and then to change my mind and cancel one or both but for now I'm looking forward to each of them. My decision isn't based on any DRM methods, connectivity requirements, attitude toward the consumer, or anything like that. I pre-ordered them because I like gaming, gadgets, new technology, they both look to offer enough value for my dollar.
