Ocean Mill for a hard starter tournament. Don't worry I haven't broken 80 there yet. It's just a fun tournament to play right after the US Open.
Send me an XBox PM or a DSP PM with your gamerTag so I can get you in.

I also don't understand the process to join. It prompts for a password but the one at the top of the other thread doesn't work. I tried PM'ing but didn't get a reply, and it looks like it still only has 1/16 players registered.
Isn't there an easier way? Like just posting the password here? If you have to recreate, I totally agree with others' preference for ANYTHING BUT OM - Director's Cut. It's a little like Devil's Island on the old PC version in that it is nothing like real golf.

I'm trying to find out if there's an easier way. This XSN is weird. It's not like TW where you just sign up or get a password. Maybe it is but I don't understand it.

The reason for the OM DC was that it was tough like the US Open. I acutally think that the DC was how most of the courses should have been done. Atleast shrink the fairways and add more undulation in the greens.
Tournament starts Thurs and runs to Sunday. If this one doesn't work properly then I just start up another one for next week and it will be at a different course.

Well if you guys want to still play, send me an PM with your gamertag through DSP and I'll send out an invite.
I just don't understand XSN. Why can't you just sign up with the password that's provided on the tournament page. If it has to be by invite only everytime out that could get a bit old.
Here's the tournament's site again...

Last date to enter is Weds night.

Whoa, I'm as shocked as anyone that it actually, finally, worked.
Use this link:

and the password:

XSN could not possible be any more poorly designed and flaky in operation.

Whoa...A while back, I was able to create tournaments, and just post the "JoinGroup" link here, with a password, and everyone could get in. Did XSN totally change?
I just replaced the "Group" in the URL you have above with "JoinGroup" and it takes people right to the appropriate place. Maybe try that next time.

also, is there a limit on the amount of points your created player
can have? Shouldn't there be a cap of some kind?
Also, isn't Ocean Mill a course that is only unlocked after completing
Career mode (which I haven't)? How can I get access to this course?
Is there a cheat?
>>>Can someone tell me if your scores automatically go into XSN when u go online and play or if you have to post the scores yourself?
Also, do I have to play one round per day?[/quote]

I'll play anything but the Director's Cut. That's just not a real golf course. Sand traps placed right in the landing zone for a driver off the tee, greens that look like K2 or Kilimanjaro, fairways that look like Anna Nicole Smith's chest ... that's not real golf.
I don't want to play Superstition Mountain -- the easiest course -- every week in perfect conditions, but playing any of the "regular" courses with Championship tees, hard pin placements and windy conditions is a b*tch in itself without having to resort to a "stunt" course like OM Director's Cut.
Just my 9 cents ...
Take care,
PK

I had never played it. I thought the same as PK just based on what I heard, but then I played it last night.
OM Director's cut is not that bad off the tee and for fairway shots, but some of the greens are unfair. You have to place your tee shots/fairway shots in the right place. I hit 17 of 18 fairways when I played with a 7 skill golfer.
There's nothing wrong with forcing you to back off of the tee, and place your shot. On some holes you HAVE to shape (draw or fade) your shots to either 1) compensate for the layout of the course (ie hit it around a tree) or 2) compensate for a sidehill lie.
I'm not an excellent golfer in links by any means, but OM definitely makes you think and manage the course, more so than most of the other courses offered in Links 2004. Are parts of it unfair: yes... the greens. But due to the ease of hitting straight shots in the game, it's easy to hit the fairways I think.

I haven't tried this course yet so I cant comment (just dl'd it last night) but I do agree it is too easy to hit the fairways and greens with the other courses. I wish they would have a "swing sensitivity" slider where you could raise or lower the percentage of accuracy that you have to have with your swing plane & tempo. Alos, in Links you have to hold youe backswing for a few seconds to "power up" your swing and I dont know anyone who holds their backswing like that in real life. If anything it is a "momentary pause". Still it's a fun game to play online with fellow DSPers and I hope we have more participation in futire tournaments.
JRod.....would you consider doing a different course for our 1st tourny so PK can play?

Jack:
By all means, no, no, no. Don't change any plans to cater to one guy, especially me. I would feel like a dick.
I'll just join for the next tourney.
Take care,
PK

Next week I'm thinking of doing South Wales. I really love that course.
I also think i might buy The Gallery because I want a new course. I might even end up purchasing Kapalua to add some variety even though I've played that course a bizillion times.
Next week's tourney will start Weds/Thurs and last until Sunday. It will be four rounds as well. Too bad we couldn't play Stableford or some other ways to play. I'll set that up as soon as I can either today or tomorrow to get some time for players to sign up.
