It will be interesting to see how much having DDR3 RAM hinders gaming performance compared to the GDDR5 RAM in the PS4.
I was hoping for Alan Wake 2, but Remedy's new game could be cool.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
So I caught up and well I am left with the same way I felt about the PS4 which was so f***in what.
E3 will tell more and frankly right now if I was forced to choose one I would go with the new Xbox because I know they are capable of providing an online experience. Sony despite all their talk has never been able to do so.

That is what E3 will be for moving forward to launch and beyond.....Aristo wrote:Personally, I hate gametrailers at a console reveal. they are a waste of time. Show me actual features and and how the console works. I would have liked some Illumiroom info, and more discussion of the Kinect. the word is, the new camera is 1080p and will work in much smaller spaces, as well as sense much finer movements.
But I know the XBO is going to play games, and they are going to look "more better." Show me why playing it on this console is better than playing it on the competition's. The weirdest complaints I have heard is the lack of games shown. Is anybody actually concerned this might not have games? When a publisher has a trailer, I'll watch it when someone takes the time to post it to a forum I happen to read.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
Sony's hacked account episode was FAR worse than what happened to 360 users.....and IMO, the online experience of the current XBox Live is far superior to PSN which you would expect since XBL is not free.....XXXIV wrote:So you didnt think having customers credit card and email info hacked was an experience?Danimal wrote:

Microsoft says the internal 500GB can't be upgraded but you can plug in a USB 3.0 external drive for extra storage. Gamespot says that MS is teasing a major announcement for E3.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
It's good to see the specs and have an idea about what you're getting, but difficult to get excited until launch games and a price are announced. The quickly mutating 360 and PS3 consoles also make a launch purchase seem less than ideal unless the launch list is really good.
The One also looks like it was designed by Dieter from Sprockets.

I'm guessing the 360 news will be a price drop.Rodster wrote:Microsoft says the internal 500GB can't be upgraded but you can plug in a USB 3.0 external drive for extra storage. Gamespot says that MS is teasing a major announcement for E3.

As of now, I'm planning on getting Xbox One as soon as I can.

Will it play any games?
Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
had read somewhere, that if try to play vidgames on the Xbox One, a mechanical stick will start beating up on you. And then Kinect will take pictures of itSudz wrote:Will it play any games?

Some how i'd like to see that.
Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I'm not remotely worried about the games. E3 will have plenty of goodies and it's not like the publishers are going to forget that MS has a new console.
I'm not worried about the lack of backwards compatibility because I've owned two consoles with that feature and never played a second of a game from an older generation on them.
I'm really not worried about the used games kerfuffle. I do like to sell games back to recoup some of my expenditures, but I never buy used. I understand why it's a thing, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if I had to eat the dvd after I finished a game.
Things I am concerned about:
The extent to which the demonstrated level of speed, ease and fluidity will actually exist in my living room. Will broadband latency, wireless issues, ISP misery or issues with the OS itself actually mean a clunkier, less seamless experience? I'm sure it will, but how close will it come to ruining things?
The extent to which cable/satellite providers need to participate in order to get the full experience from the box. Does DTV for instance need to allow MS to pull the programming and channel data etc. to integrate the TV control functions? If so, will they?
Will the new and improved Kinect eliminate the random mistaken commands that plague video watching in the current gen? I'm happy to use more voice commands, but only if my machine will stop rewinding because Walter White said "behind."
Will there be any way to convince my wife that a total audio/visual upgrade is sensible because I really, really want to be able to split my screen between MLB Gameday and the latest Elder Scrolls release and maintain the highest quality picture.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I agree Rob, no problems with backwards compatibility for me either as I usually have the original console to play those games and I rarely if ever buy used games. I think the last used game I bought was from db and the game looked new.
There's one game i'm kind of interested in and that's Driver Club on the PS4. It's by Evolution Studios. Not sure if this is the same developer who did Motorstorm. That looks interesting. But i'm still on the other side of the fence when it comes to both consoles. Nothing has made me say I can't wait to preorder.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
Either they're going to be able to control the cable or satellite box through HDMI or they will use IR blasters. Remains to be seen if they can control all the functions of a given DVR though.
Kinect will always be on, apparently.
You don't have to leave it on all the time or route your TV programming through it. Just switch inputs as you do now and turn off the Xbox.
Seems like MS doesn't think gaming alone will be a big enough business. So they're banking on Kinect to run not only your gaming UI but TV and all the other living room stuff. Maybe they want to make sure they stake a claim to control the living room before Google or Apple comes out with something that might catch on big.

I was reading on Gamespot where not Patcher but another gaming analyst says that next gen won't sell like the current gen sold.wco81 wrote:Seems like MS doesn't think gaming alone will be a big enough business. Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
Yeah I wonder if $60 games will have quite the same demand. Especially if you can't re-sell them easily because people have to pay the same price as new just to play the second-hand game.
I've barely touched my console in over a year now. But I will probably get one of the consoles, unless they screw it up with things like paying to play used games or play online.
With mobile devices offering so much other entertainment options, I'd be surprised if consoles can get away with more restrictive and costly practices.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
Eurogamer just posted an article on how used games for the XBO might go down:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... apparently
You, the shopper, won't have to pay the activation fee for a used Xbox One game - the shop will. Therefore, the price you see on a second-hand Xbox One game in a shop is the price you'll pay to be able to play it.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
The one real issue i have with t he wrapper for cable idea is that it seems to be predicated upon the idea of live TV. I don't watch live TV. Ever.
Last night I saw Motive on the DVR and went to play it. Then we saw that is has just started recording that moment. So we backed out, watched an episode of New Girl, and then went back. I need this wrapper to pull from my Tivo playlist, and I need the voice commands to control my DVR controls. My wife already says "Xbox pause" while watching regular TV as code for me to pause the TV. This has replaced, "beep, beep, beep," as code to FF through a commercial.
And I was one of those 360 users that had issues with my Kinect picking up the commands being uttered during the Xbox Reveal. So I agree that it needs to get better on picking up real commands. I do get the occasional command from regular shows, too.
But everything else looks great. I can't wait.

This might be a cool feature to some of you: http://www.gamespot.com/news/xbox-one-c ... rt-6408871
A new report today claims the Xbox One has more features than Microsoft showed off during the system's announcement earlier this week. Polygon has heard from a source that the next-generation platform will be able to speak and has an option to allow friends to take over gameplay.

I am really curious about the launch titles. I always get sucked into these things, but I don't think there's been a launch since the Dreamcast where the games themselves really blew me away. For me personally, it took about a year of so before the XBox, PS2, 360, and PS3 got games that I was dying to play.
Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
This has been a long generation so I'm ready to buy a new console.
But the used games situations and paying for online play -- Sony may try to charge too -- would make me think twice.
I know I will always get new phones and tablets. They've woven themselves into daily life.
I'm mostly sure I want to get a next-gen console but if the terms are: pay $400 or $500 for the console, pay $60 for games that won't be as easy to re-sell because they've made the effective price of used games more expensive and then pay to play online or use other features of the console (such as having it change your TV channels).
Have to wonder about the value proposition relative to other electronics toys.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I think the that Microsoft has moved beyond what I am looking for in a gaming system.
I could care less about all the TV stuff as I hardly watch TV (90% MLB network for me) and Netflix takes care of the rest.
I haven't gamed online in months and have little time/desire to do so.
The used games questions are going to be a debacle.
If Sony can release at below $300 I may think about it but am hoping to pick up a used PS3 for around $100 so I can finally play The Show.
My Ouya will be here in 2-3 weeks and I am more than happy playing indie games with my boys.
If Nintendo is smart, they will go below $200 and I would definitely think about the WiiU as my Wii still gets playtime and my boys love Nintendo games.
