Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I am still enjoying the current generation, there's no rush in me to upgrade in a near vicinity, so I don't really pay attention to the rumors and what not, before the product is actually announced with the actual facts.
Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
This seems to be a popular sentiment. However, from my "I dont have a PC" perspective I am seeing every new game that comes out for well over a year being proclaimed vastly better looking on PC, and I mean every game and very much "vastly." Adding in the ability for online shooters to have two to three times as many participants for PC than for consoles and the desperate need for upgrades in AI in all manner of games (sports, racing, shooters, everything) I am more than ready for the next iteration of home consoles.10spro wrote:I am still enjoying the current generation, there's no rush in me to upgrade in a near vicinity, so I don't really pay attention to the rumors and what not, before the product is actually announced with the actual facts.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
Yeah it sucks...because they I can't rent or resell them either! Just a small price to pay for the advantages that come with PC gaming these days. It really does seem like there is a renaissance of sorts right now, even though PC sales are WAY down because of the sh*tty Windows 8 launch. Nearly all of my multi-platform gaming right now is taking place on the PC because of said advantages. I'm ready for the new consoles, even though I'm really not. I don't need a new console per se, but it would be nice.Zeppo wrote:This seems to be a popular sentiment. Always online may relate to a second "mini-xbox" also in development.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
My only question is how long do they support Live and the PS Network for the current gen? It's hazy to me but I don't recall the original live having much of a lifespan once the 360 came out.10spro wrote:I am still enjoying the current generation, there's no rush in me to upgrade in a near vicinity, so I don't really pay attention to the rumors and what not, before the product is actually announced with the actual facts.
I assume if I plus in my old Xbox I can't go online and play, maybe that is a bad assumption.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
The current XBL will be up and running for at least 3 years. MS is selling subscription based 360's with a 2 yr XBL subscription term. Those 360's are still being sold for $99 w/Kinect.Danimal wrote:My only question is how long do they support Live and the PS Network for the current gen? What I am tying to say is that personally you won't see this old body of mine lining up for a midnight release for the next generation of games that will guarantee sharper graphics and faster processing while the first games coming out of the gate will ooze yeeaah and yipees while maybe falling short in content. Don't get me wrong, whether it's Sony or MS I will upgrade to next console within the first year of their original release date but for now people are too hooked up on rumors that may or may not be facts while there's a fine machinery of games currently in display.Danimal wrote:My only question is how long do they support Live and the PS Network for the current gen? Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I haven't fired up my 360 or PS3 in at least 2 months. I think i'm burned out so I can't see myself lined up for any launch either. I did that for the Dreamcast, PS2 and 360. My PS3 was available the day after the launch.10spro wrote:What I am tying to say is that personally you won't see this old body of mine lining up for a midnight release for the next generation of games that will guarantee sharper graphics and faster processing while the first games coming out of the gate will ooze yeeaah and yipees while maybe falling short in content. Oh I agree I am content with both current systems. I like the PS4 social integration and video capture etc. I don't understand why a new machine is needed for any of that though.10spro wrote: What I am tying to say is that personally you won't see this old body of mine lining up for a midnight release for the next generation of games that will guarantee sharper graphics and faster processing while the first games coming out of the gate will ooze yeeaah and yipees while maybe falling short in content. Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
Of the considerations I make when deciding on a which/when concerning the next generation of games, the PC has never, is not now, nor will never likely be on the radar. I occasionally play solitaire or Angry Birds on the PC...and that's not likely to change. So I really care little how 'superior' the graphics on a PC game look, because that reality will always be subjective rather than objective. Yeah, Far Cry 3 looks vastly superior on the PC...as long as you have the right card, or the right this, or a powerful enough that. And if you don't, then getting your rig to that point means spending more money in order to get the 'vastly superior' look/performance/whatever. With the consoles, every game I look at plays on my console. No need to look at specs, requirements (other than space), and all that other stuff.
I know PC gaming is a legitimate thing in many circles, but it won't ever be a blip on the radar for me. About the only thing that will for what's next is a good uptick in graphical horsepower, an online presence that is at least on par with XBL as it currently stands, and the ability to do more than simply play games...especially at the price points that are being bantered about.
My hope is that the Xbox successor can do all that. If it can, I will eventually purchase one. Probably not for at least a year after launch, however...which is about par for the course for me.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I wonder if we're actually going to find out about the next Xbox on May 21st like they say we are...or is it going to be like the pseudo PS4 announcement? I guess we'll see.

I doubt we get a price, but I bet we see it and get a lot more info than what Sony laid out. And if they don't address what always on means, they are idiots.dbdynsty25 wrote:I wonder if we're actually going to find out about the next Xbox on May 21st like they say we are...or is it going to be like the pseudo PS4 announcement? Now that there are new systems on the way, maybe just maybe the developers can finally put that EXTRA horsepower to use and finally ditch the Press Start to continue. One can only hope.

Starting to get anxious about the new Xbox announcement tomorrow. The geek in me loves these announcements...if legit info is unveiled. I hope we actually see the new console and controller.

MS would be stupid not to show off the new Xbox especially since they poked fun at Sony for not showing their console.Diablo25 wrote:Starting to get anxious about the new Xbox announcement tomorrow. I don't really care what the box looks like, though these days, maybe it's more important that it's stackable with other components and is quiet.
If Xbox is always on, they have to make it quieter, at least on sleep mode. Though apparently they will want you to watch TV through it so that your TV input will be the one that the Xbox is connected to.

I'm with WCO. I don't care if it looks like a used, gooey condom if MS learned its lessons from the early 360 units and engineers stable, reliable hardware at launch for this system.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I'm kind of excited as well only because I want someone to make me care about the next gen. I'm usually the first one to buy anything new, my dust collecting Vita is proof of that. I'm just not inclined to buy either of these at this point.

Re: New Xbox AND PS4 Info/Rumors
I'm the opposite. I have never bought a single console at the launch, but I'm 90% going to pick up a 720 on day one. It's been a long generation, and they have been updating and trying to make the 360 more media steaming and social network friendly console. At this point, it's a bit Frankensteinish with that and the Kinect stuff. I'm looking forward to a new model that beefs up the specs and steamlines all of the features.Danimal wrote:I'm kind of excited as well only because I want someone to make me care about the next gen. I would imagine the same goes for folks interested in the PS4. While I don't see them as huge upgrades, they both seem like they will perfect what has become of the consoles over this generation. And to be honest, my 360 in long in the tooth, kind of loud, and the tray jams from getting knocked out of alignment from me being dumb. If the next gen wasn't coming soon, I'd be getting a new black version to replace my white 360. For the difference in price, getting a next gen one will feel like a bargain.

Supposedly according to Gamespot.com, there's going to be an announcement about an EA/Microsoft partnership.
