It's coming home, It's coming home......football's coming home.
Re: Beautiful Game 12/13 Thread (Major EPL slant)
Didn't get to see the second leg but 7-0 aggregate is an absolute massacre anyway you slice it.
Do Bayern even need Pep next season?

Yep...Brazil 2014 is not too far away now.fsquid wrote:It's coming home, It's coming home......football's coming home.
In the meantime, I'm quite looking forward to the all-German ECL final

Re: Beautiful Game 12/13 Thread (Major EPL slant)
So Pep....welcome to Bayern! Last year we won the Budesliga by 20 points, the DFB Pokal (most probably) and the Champions League (again, most probably - 90th minute Gotze own goal) beating Barca 7-0 in the semis. This year we expect you to win the Superbowl, the Stanley Cup and the NBA Championships.fsquid wrote:I'll be honest, it is a tad uncomfortableMacca00 wrote:Didn't get to see the second leg but 7-0 aggregate is an absolute massacre anyway you slice it.

In other news;
Congrats to my dad for continuing to do a crap job by guiding a team supported by an entitled bunch of Chav whiners to the UEFA Cup Final....where I hope they get d!cked by Benfica. I think Chelsea have played something like 60+ matches this season. I wonder how those players stay fresh?

Sorry, out of nowhere but I had to share this (it is REAL btw and not tongue-in-cheek);

You're welcome, Rob.

Awesome! His away record in 11 years against ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool & Arsenal: 0 wins in 45 tries. Clearly a genius.pk500 wrote:It's Moyes, according to The Guardian:

I only go to a few MLS games, but as my daughter continues to enjoy the game of soccer at school everyday and in camps, we decided to watch the Whitecaps play the champion LA Galaxy at BC place. Whitecaps are like Jekyll & Hyde, they can't buy a win on the road but at home they certainly play differently beating Donovan's team 3-1 yesterday.

Re: Beautiful Game 12/13 Thread (Major EPL slant)
That's a great pic, Rob! Amazing that Sturridge and Coutinho combined cost the same as Stuart Downing.....
I am still scratching my head at the appointment of David Moyes as the next United boss and the media's reaction to his appointment. The media have been hailing the appointment of Moyes as some masterstroke and I even read one editorial that compared his leadership of Everton to that of Moses leading the Jews (I f ucking kid you not).
Like Rob pointed out to me earlier this week, United could have picked anyone they wanted, and I mean ANYONE;
Mourinho
Klopp
Ancelotti
Pellegrini
Allegri
Conte
Capello
DeBoer
Hell, they could have given Bayern a truck load of money and got Pep
Instead, the biggest f'ing club in the world pick a guy who has won nothing in 10 years, finished 4th ONCE and promptly s*** the bed in the CL qualifier. Sure, Moyes hasn't had a lot of money to work with but he's not alone and, most importantly, he's accomplished nothing. And yet, the media make it seem like he's consistently taken Everton into the Quarters of the Champions League for the past 10 years on a shoestring budget.
The only thing I can think of is that since Ferguson wants to hang around, putting in a patsy like Moyes allows him to exert his influence even if he's not chewing his gum and swearing at refs on the touchline. Aside from that, I don't get it, and I definitely don't get the media's almost universal praise for this decision.
To put it another way, prior to this week;
If Real Madrid replaced Mourinho with David Moyes - you would laugh
If Barcelona replaced Tito with David Moyes - you would laugh (and Messi would kill himself)
If Milan replaced Allegri with David Moyes - you would laugh (and Balotelli would be really, really confused)
Same for Juve, Bayern, Dortmund, PSG, Inter and Valencia
Hell even Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea fans would be scratching their heads if Moyes was made manager of their teams.
I dunno.
Well done Wigan and the likeable Roberto Martinez. City officials apparently meeting with Pellegrini (which would be a fantastic appointment IMO - I'm jealous) prior to the game couldn't have helped poor Mancini but City still should have steamrollered them. Too bad Wigan will likely get relegated.
In a few weeks, the manager of Wigan will have won more trophies than the managers of United and Liverpool combined.

White guys cant dance!!! Sturridge can score though. I wonder how long it will take for him and Luis to go to blows for not passing to each other, both greedy twats, so far it has been good but i have a feeling the more Sturridge plays and gets confidence at the team hell be doing to Suarez what he did to Jonjo yesterday
Either way we're ok up front me feels
Gonna wait and see about Moyes he may go mad now he has some money to spend hopefully he's calling Dalglish for tips on who to buy and for how much.

Re: Beautiful Game 12/13 Thread (Major EPL slant)
I think Sturridge is much more of a greedy twat than Luis (who is just a twat, but I love him) - there were several times he should have passed off yesterday and you could see Jonjo getting pissed. Suarez only gets into that mindset when we're down and he suddenly feels he has to do everything himself.
I hope so. I think Andy Carroll would like great in nan's tablecloth next season! We'll be willing to take a hit - call it 34 million instead of recouping the full 35...
Part-exchange for granny shagger? I can dream.

Re: Beautiful Game 12/13 Thread (Major EPL slant)
Ferguson and Giggs wanted Moyes, so there you go. If you need a comparison to Bayern, Felix Magath was the same type of manager when he was hired. He won the double two years in a row and then was canned when BM didn't qualify for the CL that one year (07 I think).
I guess the only thing that might lead people to think he might be great is the money thing. Always had a good squad despite the transfer restrictions. I believe with the exception of one season, Everton has always finished between 4th and 8th.

Gentlemen,
Forget Fergie, forget the UEFA Cup Final, the biggest football news this week is that on a cold, windy night I scored my first hat trick in more than decade including a Alonso-esque lob from the half-way line for the 3rd goal. I should probably retire now as it's never going to get better than this.

I can imagine every one of your teammates preparing to absolutely rip your head off for taking the shot before that lob went in. Well done!Macca00 wrote:Gentlemen,

Playing last Friday right? We played in Exeter Ontario (our home field) in conditions that were more appropriate for Scotland in October. Scotch mist fell the entire game and it was bloody freezing. To compound things we then went on to lose 1-0 to a team that hardly had any subs as we continually f*cked up around the net.Macca00 wrote:Gentlemen,
