I love this game. Maybe it helps I didn't play 13, but the offline modes are great. It also doesn't feel like the usual grind to get your dude up to a competitive level.

Yes, but there is a catch....if you had character built or XP accumulated from TW13, they would let you import 75,000 XP to start a new CAG which would put you at a pretty decent player right off the bat. Imported my 75K XP and was at level 100 in 2 days. If you don't have any XP to import, you will likey start off with a golfer with fairly mediocre attributes.

You can play with Pros in all online modes and the connected tournaments. You can't play with one in Career Mode.
And also if you play with the current sim mode settings you get the XP much quicker than last year so it's not really a problem. And even if you don't want to mess around with your CAG in our daily tourneys, I don't think anyone here would bite you if you use a Pro. If the game is still on sale in the US, I would definitely go for it.

Opinions vary on how the putting cameras work in this game. In my opinion, it breaks the portion of the game where the virtual producer uses a camera angle that doesn't allow me to see the detail of how the putt broke to the degree possible if the golfer's "swing view" had been maintained. I know that in Live Tournaments I can go back and watch a replay to see it from the swing view, but that kills the "liveness" and flow of the event, IMO.

The putting presentation leaves me just as flat in offline play as it does online. The scoring problems offline aren't nearly as severe as what I see online, so I can see where offline play would be less problematic. Those of you who aren't bothered by the current putting camera production; I think are going to be surprised at how much smoother and seamless the new stationary follow putting camera is going to make the game. Not having to shift the swing camera on the tee of every hole is going to take more interface steps out of the way to make the game smoother also.

I guess what I'm saying is if you like it now, I'm pretty sure you're going to like it even more after the patch.

Latest on the patch from Sean Wilson of EA Sports:

"We kept the latest patch build for further testing and some additional dev work over the weekend to iron out a couple other issues that crept up on Friday. The issues seem to be resolved, however, we're spending today taking one final pass to try and ensure that this build is clean.

I understand the frustration, but these issues would in all likelihood caused us to fail out of Sony/Microsoft, and if that happened the delay could have been worse. We're working as hard as we can to get this build out. All I can do is to continue to be as honest and forthright as possible on our progress."

I don't know why this didn't get announced Friday, when the previous statement said the "plan" was to submit it last Friday. It would have eliminated a lot of second guessing over the weekend. I had a feeling when we didn't see a confirmation of the patch being submitted by late in the afternoon Friday, that it was being held for further testing. I don't know why a simple statement couldn't have been made at that time to keep interested customers in the loop.

I finally played TW14 a good bit this weekend and I have to agree wit you that the putting cameras become infuriating at times. I am terrible at putting (well I am terrible at all aspects of the game), and it makes it impossible for me to tell what I am doing wrong after most putts.

I am not finding this to be the case at all unless I am just not understanding how the game works this year. For example, I played two rounds(36 holes) of the Weekly DSP Tournament at August on the sim settings and while I did suck bad (+32), I got ZERO attribute points to apply to my CAG. I was pretty bad at TW13 as well, but I remember at least getting some XP to apply to my CAG after completing a round. What am I doing wrong here,(besides the obvious of not being very good)? Also, how to you all play rounds so fast? 36 holes took me a solid 2 hours last night. As far as I know, I am doing the fast forwarding as quickly as possibe, not watching replays, etc.

I know it's all been stated before, but it is shocking how broken the scoring and stats are in the online and Country Club stuff. I was going to start trying to get some screenshots to post in the DSP CC Online thread to start tracking the Weekly and Daily tournament results like we did last year, but it seems pointless in the current state. For all the touting of the stats and leaderboard stuff that displays between holes, at this point I wish they had at least provided an option to turn it off. All it does is make me mad. :)

I also experienced no commentary for two straight rounds. Checked my settings and everything appears to be turned on like I would expect. Went and played some offline career and still had no commentary. Wierd. So much of the interface is unintuitive and clunky that I can't tell what is a bug and what is just me not knowing what I am doing. I wish I just completely hated the game so that I could just take it back now.

Lastly, I know that I am not the typical EA gamer that they are trying to appease, but I would have paid $60 just to get a version of TW13 with the new sim difficulty, no freezes, and an online stats tracking system with the leaderboards and stats like what the Masters has:

DChaps, as you advance with your CAG each level requires a certain amount of XP's required for that particular level. If you're in your late 80's it's going to require more XP's to advance to the next level and so on. And the best way to achieve that is to keep it on sim mode default while you're playing in order to achieve those needed 4 attribute points for your player. And play, play, play Live tourneys. It helps quite a bit.

Hard to believe it's a week later than when I got tipped by an insider that the patch was being sent for certification. We're sitting here this morning with no clue of where it really stands other than two "we think we've got it done, but need to spend another day of testing before sending it off" messages from last Thursday and another one this Monday. The silence is a bit troubling as it makes folks conjure up with worst images in their minds, like there's no way that all of the listed fixes can be made to work and they're trying to figure out which ones will be sacrificed.

I really want to play this game, but after I tried it again Monday afternoon for a 5 holer, I just can't get past the overall impression that the game feels broken to me right now. I went back and played some H2H online with Tiger 13 yesterday, along with some career mode in what remains the best presentation and fluid swing interface game of the series, Tiger 10; and it really made me realize how lacking Tiger 14 is in performance areas that are critical to me.

I still think if they fix and restore everything currently listed on the "official" patch list, Tiger 14 will at least become my favorite installment of the current-gen series, but dayuuuum... these long spans of silence during this time when a brief, day-to-day update of the patch status would help allay some of the concerns of a restless user base, is troubling to say the least.

The patch will be here when it's here. Shelve the f*cking thing until it is if you're only going to complain each and every day.

Cancel my false alarm... it was actually submitted to Microsoft and Sony Monday night, according to Sean Wilson's post late this morning. And yes, I have made a ass out of myself over this, but I've already followed the second part of your advice and shelved it until the patch gets here. You won't hear another peep out of me about the patch, I promise.

Ya Cauthen take a chill pill.

In the words of the prolific game designer John Carmack, the patch "will be done when it's done".

I look pretty darn silly now in retrospect. There are really only two series right now that I buy on launch day and fret over the status of patches over, Tiger and Forza Motorsports. Oh, and I took four tall chill pills in medium blue bottleneck containers before I penned my last diatribe. That's probably part of the reason it sounded so whiney... :o

My wife already thinks I'm ridiculous for scheduling a day off on Tiger and Forza launch days; imagine her reaction when I tell her I'm going to try to schedule a day off when the Tiger 14 patch is released :!:

One of the benefits of working a rotating shift is that I'm off a lot of times on weekdays. Some of my co-workers on my shift are also golfers. A lot times we have the course pretty much to ourselves when we go out on a Tuesday morning, for example.

Last year by this time I had 15 rounds under my belt. Spring is not being kind this year played in 34 degree temps with sleet last Saturday and we got about 9 inches of rain yesterday and today so this weekend looks like a wash (rim shot).

Heading south in 11 days to play, not that I am counting. :D

The weather has been perfect in the piedmont section of South Carolina this week, but the pollen has been brutal. It literally looks like it has snowed pollen! I have to wash pollen of our cars before we can take off in them and see 8O I went to the practice range and was stuffed up after hitting a few dozen balls. I've been mainlining Claritin since! :) The pollen tide will have ended by the time you head south.

My youngest son reminded me today that one of the Minecraft patches he was looking for was delivered 10 days after its submission date, so we may luck out on this one. I recall Tim saying that this one was being "fast-tracked" a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what that means operationally, but it at least sounds like it could yield a quicker turn around.

Have fun....I'll trade ya.....I am stuck in West Africa right now with no clubs and no place to play until I get home next Wednesday.....then I am going to play next weekend in Tulsa with an old friend and then I am going to Dubai, then Iraq and hopefully getting to play the Ernie Els course in Dubai at least once as I will be bringing my new clubs. Its a b*tch trying to find time to practice when family and careers get in the way. I have IRL Golf fever really bad right now.

If you get a chance to play the Els course, you better do it and report back on how it was. The place just looks surreal to me!? And heck, if I had the clubs in my bag right now that you do, I'd have a serious case of IRL golf fever - pollen or no pollen :o

Geez everyone happens to be traveling everywhere. I am currently in Shanghai, but not for golfing purposes although I do plan to squeeze a quick trip to Sheshan if time permits. Fairly windy and cold conditions still here, should get back home by the weekend.

And John, Claritin doesn't work crap, the rag weeds in Vancouver have been horrible this year, I can barely breathe as all my nasal points has been literally clogged up, Aerius is the better brand for me although I may have to get some shots as I've been quite allergic this season.

Just about to board the flight back home. We only had time to drive by the area due to my tight schedule, but I come here often on business and will eventually check the course out.

Sean Wilson just posted some news about the Tiger 14 patch in the official forum. I'll just report it and not comment on on it:

Summarizing: Sony has approved the PS3 patch and it should be ready for distribution on the 29th of this month. On the down side, Microsoft found a crash bug in the 360 version and are requiring that EA Sports fix it. Sean says they've already found a fix and are testing it the rest of the day and plan to submit it tomorrow. His estimate is that this will delay the 360 patch by a week. Whether that means a week from the PS3 patch release date or the original 360 patch release date, I'm not sure.

Here's a link to the message thread about it if you want to read more detail:
