Flight Sims, Strategy games, hell all the Early Sid Meier stuff.

Just the sight of some of these boxes makes my nerd heart go pitter-patter:

Full list of games here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_MicroProse_games

Literally too many in there that I love to pick a favorite, but highlights beyond the obvious (XCOM, CivII, Pirates!)

Gunship (so many hours spent blasting pixelated T-72s)
Master of Orion
Red Storm Rising (still my favorite ever Sub sim)
Rollercoaster Tycoon

Only SSI rivals these guys when it comes to getting my nostalgia neurons this worked up.

Grand prix 2 say no more. :D Brilliant game. What amazes me is the amount of customization in those early games i could use a mouse as an accelerator and a flight yoke as a wheel. Cramp in the big toe was not good at the hungaroring
Stuff they dont put into todays games even.

I was a huge fan of Airborne Ranger for my C64 and the follow up game to Airborne Ranger was called Special Forces. This will be a day one purchase for me!

I enjoyed the first 2 Call of Juarez games. Both were decent westerns. Stayed away from the 3rd game because of the horrible reviews.

Just saw this pop up on the Xbox Marketplace. I guess it was announced and shown at E3 last year but I missed any reporting of it. I was a huge fan of the Motorcross Madness series for PC made by Rainbow. This could be some mindless fun similar to the WRC Arcade title recently released.

Almost a full year since its announce, Motocross Madness is on the way to Xbox 360. PlayXBLA reports the downloadable title, which stars your Xbox Live Avatar, is due on April 10. It has nine tracks, and boasts single-player, ghost challenge, and eight-player competitive races, as well as a Bike Club feature so you can work with your friends rather than against them.

That’s right! Only 8 more days until you can get your hands on Motocross Madness!

“Now this was the surprise of the show. The downloadable racing game features tight controls and fantastic track design with branching paths. Performing tricks during jumps gives you boost in a fun risk/reward system that keeps races dynamic and competitive. And the fact that you race as your Xbox Avatar—including whatever crazy outfit you are wearing—adds a ton of personality.” -Aaron Morales, Entertainment Weekly

Motocross Madness is coming to Xbox Live Arcade on April 10, PlayXBLA reports.

This news follows Microsoft's announcement earlier in the week stating the title would hit XBLA sometime this month as part of the new Play to Earn program for Xbox Live Rewards, MyPunchcard. Playing this or any other XBLA title will allow players to earn rewards.

Motocross Madness allows players to freeride across a number of environments, including Egyptian deserts and Iceland snowbanks. The game features nine off-road tracks in single player, eight multiplayer races and ghost challenges.

Reminds me a little of Downhill Domination on the PS2, which I loved. Interested in hearing the impressions and reading some reviews.

I downloaded the trial version of Motocross Madness this morning and tried it this afternoon. It's really nothing like the Motocross Madness that caught my fancy on the PC many years ago. It's a a lot more arcadey than I expected. I don't have that seat of the pants, trying to keep my balance feel with this one. There's a sort of rigid, on rails feel to it, but I was expecting it to model bike handling a little more realistically. I'll give it a little more time and it may appeal to me on a different level, but it's definitely not a buy at this point.

I don't know what is meant by an "on rails feel", as the game is definitely not on rails in any way. It is a little more arcadey than the MM's of old, but when you're talking about a game that uses your avatar...well, how many of them have ever been sims??? lol. That said, I like what I've played so far, and know that the boys will LOVE it. It keeps up with friends' times and all that, so there's that aspect of always competing even when you aren't online together, a good deal of customization and upgrading of the bikes and avatars, and it's pretty darn cool. Is it a MX sim? Nope. Didn't expect it to be. What it is, so far, though...is a lot of fun for my money.

I guess on rails is a bit too restrictive a term; it's more like the steering is not as proportional as I was expecting. I wasn't expecting a simulation by any stretch, but I thought it would remind me more of its namesake than it has so far. I haven't given up on it yet, I've just got to try to see it through a different filter.

I sorta get what you're saying. That said, the more I play it, the more I DO see the old Motocross Madness in there. The free roam stuff is classic free roaming MM with an arcade twist. I think it's safe to call this MX vs SSX. It's pretty darn deep, too, as there are lots of things to unlock, find, upgrade, and all that. The only knock I have is a personal preference more than anything. I wish that the rumble was more constant, to give the impression of the roughness of riding a dirt bike. But it's a small knock. Heh, it even has that 'edge of the map shotgun' thing that is a Rainbow Studios trademark...

I'm really digging this...

I'm pretty sure MM was not a sim when it was released...when they added that free roam stuff with the ridiculous airs, that kinda blew the whole sim thing out the window. LOL. That said, I'm looking forward to trying this new one tonight hopefully.

Better and better as you get better parts and bikes. Look in the "Famestar" stuff, too...I had several awarded riding suits in the rewards section of that. Exploration is great fun.
