I am still hedging on whether to grab this. Perhaps I'll wait and see reactions to the announced patch.

Enjoyed reading your thoughts on the game Don... thanks! I'm giddy over the patch news about the stationary putting camera as likely being part of the patch. This will definitely turn my rental into a purchase if it goes down as planned.

I'll wind up going Historic Edition and the TPC pack, at the very least. I don't want the mega pack because I don't want to pay for anything that has fantasy courses in it. There are a few other courses that I may pick up individually later on. But I'll have plenty to play if I go HE and TPC pack.

Dan, James and myself all had the Season Ticket, early release version of the game that we got last Friday afternoon, and it ran though Tuesday, 1:00 am before it timed out. That's how we got all that play in. Are you familiar with EA Sports' Season Ticket program? Google it or ask me if you aren't and I'll share more about it. I've bought it for the last two years and feel like I've more than gotten my money's worth out of it!

EAST is absolutely worth it. Between NHL and TW its a no brainer in my opinion. I just wish EA would make a baseball game.

My advice would be to wait and see how the patch shakes down if you're on the fence about it. I'm going to return my rental copy after my two day, online pass trial ends. I hope to max my CAG out in that time, but honestly, my dislike for the way the putting game is disrupted with the current, perspective shattering presentation continues to grow. I think it will be my favorite console golf game of all time *IF* they do make the fixed putting camera a reality in the patch. The borked head to head cameras, where you can't even see your opponent is frozen and the only way you know they've hit a shot is by sound, have got to be fixed also. They're far worse in terms of breaking a mode of play than the wonky Follow cam putting camera.

My funds have been earmarked for a purchase, but it's all pending a successful fixed putting camera in the patch.

I actually have a few games to trade in that could get me the game for pretty much no cost. Gonna play it by ear.

You know you can't resist it. You're a golfer, Sim mode is a biiiaaatch but very realistic. There are issues that everyone is hoping will get solved in a patch and even then, some folks will whine a bit too. Not perfect but no video game is, put aside the camera angle issues and you got the best TW yet. The known issues are not a gamebreaker for me.

I'm glad that I picked this one up. I couldn't stand how dark the demo was and I don't have the season ticket so I really didn't have a true experience with the game until now. The simulation mode is awesome. Putting and chipping (I have holed out from the fringe a few times already) is a lot easier but that is fine because that means I can play without the grids or caddie with no real issue. There are certainly bugs and annoyances but I'm finding it so much more fun right from the get go. Since hitting it straight is not a given and shots are much less forgiving it really does stress the risk/reward and course management aspects of the game.

This was the first time that I ever had a golfer from the previous version worth importing. It was nice to jump right in with a decent golfer.

All of you who may be seeing stats/scoring or other issues with the game:

Have you tried clearing the cache on your 360 or PS3's? I mention this because I have yet to see any of these issues so far and I cleared my cache when reports started to surface about these issues. It is worth a try to see if that may be one of the causes and why neither EA, Sony, nor MS saw theses issues during the certification process. Would love to hear if this helps with any of this. This does not include the online camera issues in H2H play.

Thanks in advance....

How do we clear our cache? I'm willing to try. Also have you even been in the cut line situation? I ask simply because I know how good you are at the game so maybe you've just not been in the situation it occurs in.

Also not trying to start an argument with 10's but what is not game breaking to some is to others. For instance I don't have an issue with camera angles or green speed but not making a cut when I earned it is a problem for me. I've seen JC taking some rather not nice comments elsewhere for his views on camera angles which is just stupid. If it bothers him he has every right to talk about it.

Oh don't get me wrong. I don't like the cameras as it's presented now. Neither had I played much career mode yet based on what happened to you. Everyone can b*tch all they want about stats (which were a mess in the ST version), camera angles and what not. And because of it some of us here cancelled their pre-order.

But those lingering issues are not bad enough to make me stop playing Sim mode, which I really enjoy and I am not even in the same league as JC or Orthostud. So did I tell someone to censor their opinion here or elsewhere about things that bother them?

I see that Tim linked this process below. I wonder about my system now, I haven't cleared its cache in years! I'll give it a go just for the heck of it, but I haven't really gotten into career mode enough to notice anything yet.

I see that stuff Dan, and it really goes in one ear and out the other. I know I've got an obsession about the presentation and I can understand how people who don't, think I'm overboard with it. Heck, at times I amaze myself about how wrapped up in it I am, but the more I try to deny it, the more I realize how ingrained it is in me. I have no doubt it's going to radically change my outlook on the game once the fixed putting camera is patched in... that's just me. But honestly, I've taken no offense, nor exception over anything somebody's said.

No you didn't. I took it the wrong way the comment about people whining. The cut line things bugs me a lot and people elsewhere telling me its not a big deal. I equate it to me playing Madden having a better record than a cpu team but them making the playoffs.

I enjoy the sim play a lot as well. I could get by just playing daily live tournaments and call it a day but the SP is finally compelling enough to want to play so I just would like it to work.

I will try the cache clearing trick and see if it works. I should probably delete the ST install and demo as well.

Like I said I will give it a try but considering clearing the cache just removes updates and Tiger has had no updates I am aware of. I am not sure what it is going to accomplish.

Just trying to eliminate any console-specific issues that might be overlooked such as something in some users cache which might be impacting the game that is not on EA/Sony/MS systems that were used to QA/Certify the game.....I thought it was worth a shot.

Actually clearing the cache does a lot more than the link explains. That link is essentially explaining the down side, that patch files are removed. So I will give it a shot tonight. Not looking forward to downloading that BF3 patch again though.

Even though I have not bought this game yet I do enjoy listening in to everyone's thoughts. This years sim difficulty is definitely an improvement but at the same time I am convinced that they made the short game and putting easier to offset the sensitivity in the swing.

Every time I check in here it makes me want to go out to the store and grab a copy just to play in the OCC With you fellas. I am going to continue to hold out though unless some green stuff miraculously makes it to me for Easter.

Who has posted the lowest round in the OCC so far? Lowest round in Xbox live so far?

Ha, same here Ortho. Went and bought Bioshock Infinite just to help me not to cave. Think I am just kidding with myself tho.

Hah, wouldn't it be cool if you could just go to the DSP CC online web site and look at the stats and results yourself?

Wouldn't it? Considering what NCAA Football delivered 3 years ago and what Madden and Tiger have since it makes you scratch your head. I think this years web interface is worse than last year.

I posted this in the CC thread but as a PSA clearing the cache didn't fix my cut line issue. It did however fix that little stuttering that appeared on some shots off the tee.

It won't fix the cut line issue. I was in the 3rd event on the Web.com tour and they had a look back at last week's results and it showed I had shot -83 when I had shot -11 for the four round tournament, so there is definitely some issues with stats and I believe the cut line issue is related. Good to hear it addressed some stuttering you had.

Yeah it did and its a good tip. I never thought about it much until I did some research after your post. But think about the amount of demos and patches most of us download. Now think about how many of those patches are residing in the cache in some way for games you may not play, nor even own anymore. It is surely a performance hit. I don't even have Tiger installed to the HD and it cleared up my stuttering and also the start up lag I have recently been experiencing (that lag is xbox related not Tiger)

When I think of the number of games, demos and trials I installed that I deleted and how fragmented this HD must be it makes me wonder why there is no HD backup oroduct so you could defrag the HD or format it.

Anyway way off course now but thanks for the tip and update on scoring issues.
