BF3 with Premium is a very nice package. Single player is average, at best, but online there something for everybody.
BF: BC2 is a great single player game. It's the only reason I bought it at the time since I wasn't playing online. Very glad I kept it. I think I'll stick with it for now and download the Vietnam expansion next month since there are still games going on.

I liked BF:BC2 better online on the console. Some of BF3 maps are too large for 16 players. Plus with BF:BC2 the DLC gave you a whole new era with Vietnam. I'm sure some of my bias is due to the fact that I always had a bunch of friends online playing Battlefield back then.
I played a little BF3 last week. Being I don't play regularly, I was a bullet sponge for the experts at the top of the level cap. I still managed to rack up some points as a medic.
Everyone who still plays BF3 regularly is an ace. I see Level 100 birds all over the place.
It used to piss me off, as I'm only a Level 26 or 27 Sergeant Major. But now I just enter every match knowing I'm going to be a lead magnet. It's still a ton of fun, and I'm improving through repetition and watching some of the tactics of better players. Good weapons still make a big difference.

I guess I really never understood unlocking better guns as you play. Don't you get better as you play? Why get better guns too? Seems like new people playing the game would want to stick around knowing they at least have a level playing field. Never got the killcams or radars in these games either. Why should your cover be blown when you shoot or kill someone? All that does is promote running around constantly. These aren't game killers by any stretch, but I could do without. I guess that's why I like the hardcore modes better.

I also find I get really rusty after not playing for a while. I got to a decent level of skill when I played a lot, but now I just get BF'd in BF most of the time. Still a lot of fun, and the mix of maps is really good now -- something for everyone.

It's odd -- not every advanced gun is better than introductory guns. The progression definitely isn't linear. There are some original guns I enjoy using and with which I have success.
But there are a few guns you can attain at higher levels that are smooth as softened butter.

I've played several times in the past week and never have problems finding games. I think there are enough people that prefer BC2 that it should be good for a while.
What's up with people killing their teammates in hardcore mode? Got into a game a couple of days ago where a guy kept chasing me and dropping C4 at my feet and blowing me up. I was a sniper so I really wasn't paying attention the first couple of times and had no idea what happened. I was able to get away from him and scope in on him doing the same thing to another guy on our team. Took him out just before he triggered it. Then left the game. I guess that's fun to some people.
Enjoyed a VERY fun session with Teal and randoms last night with the new End Game maps and equipment. These maps are SUPERB. Large, open spaces very well suited to the new motocross bikes.
I thought the bikes would be a cheap gimmick when I read about them before the release of End Game. Not at all. They add a great element of mobility and strategy to the game, as you must guard points a bit more in Conquest since it's so easy for foes to hop on a bike and claim unguarded points.
Was Capture the Flag always a mode in BF3? Played it last night for the first time and loved it!
Big fun, Teal. Let's do it again soon! Sorry I couldn't talk -- this cold has silenced me!

LOL, Db, that was funny. Yeah, PK, that was a blast. And I agree-I don't know if CTF was always in BF, but if it was, I was sure missing out, as it was a lot of fun. The bikes are a great addition, especially to the bigger maps, as you aren't just limited to tanks, jeeps, choppers...or walking. Now you have a personal 'get across the map' vehicle. It works well.

I dig using the bikes to be a cross between John Rambo and James "Bubba" Stewart. I love how some of the new maps have jumps that allow you to catch big air on bikes.
Plus the incredible maneuverability of the bikes allow you to evade fire from armor or the air at times. You're no longer guaranteed meat for the grinder as an infantry soldier against armor, choppers or jets.
