Oh, no doubt. I'm very happy with it otherwise. And this current problem seems to be a recent development. Before that, I was very happy with the battery life and capabilities of the phone. I'll see if I can root out the cause of the issue, but thanks anyhow.

Why not just keep it on the charger overnight?

Yeah, like DB suggested...

I can charge it overnight to get more juice to start the day, but since I've noticed it's draining at a seeming increased rate, I want to get to the bottom of any unintended drain under controlled circumstances when it should be in a deep sleep.

I'm not sure how well these work, but what about some of the battery apps in the Play store? Most seem to be geared for "saving" battery, but they usually come with a battery usage tracker that I find a bit better than the stock Android one.

It may help you ID the culprit.

Battery Defender has good reviews, I think that has a tracker.

I've used Batter Booster on our phones, it has pretty decent tracking stuff.

Well a reboot seems to have cleared my issue. I'd re-enabled Google Now, Location Services (although I did leave the Google Maps "report my location" off) powered down and charged fully before putting it to sleep overnight. This morning I was at 96% and light usage this morning has depleted the battery about to my expectations...

I also had installed Better Battery Stats, but both it and the stock battery app on HTC Sense don't register Google Maps at all. So whatever was causing it appears to have been cleared up, either through resetting some of the things I'd disabled or through the reboot.

At least with Better Battery Stats, I'll be able to more quickly identify a culprit should this happen again, but for now it looks like a false alarm.

Wait...so you hadn't rebooted the phone when you started having issues? Yikes. First resort. Haha.

The thing is... I thought I had. But I wasn't certain, thus the retry. I'll be sure to keep it in mind for next time, though, heh.

Three days ago. Yup. Haha. Its actually really good on WP8. That's one huge advantage for the OS. The music players are all fantastic.

Nexus 4 is a beast.

Nothing I've thrown at it has made it even flinch.

Love it.

Well, as it's turned out, I need to get my phone replaced. Almost certainly unrelated to the battery drain problem I was describing, my phone just took a dump trying to open the camera app. Launching the app resulted in a frozen screen and the LED flash constantly on.

Trying to turn the LED off/on through the flashlight apps was fruitless as the LED was stuck 'on' and I had to reboot the phone.

After reboot, and despite subsequent reboot attempts, the camera app now reports 'unable to start the camera'.

I (begrudgingly) did a factory reset but the problem persists.

I went by the Verizon store today and they're having a new one sent as I'm still well under the warranty period.

In the meantime, since I did the factory reset, I'm using this time to experiment with replacing the HTC launcher :P

I just read a rumor that the Samsung S4 could have automatic eye scrolling. Now that would be cool. 8)

Can't wait. It'll be my first Samsung as I'll be upgrading from the iPhone.

Interesting. I have the iPhone 5 but will probably be switching to something different when I'm due for an upgrade/discount. Just bored/tired of the iPhone.

Predictably, Microsoft Windows Phone marketshare is already going down. LOL. Actually that's pretty amazing...to be going DOWN from 3.2%.

I got the Lumia 920 when it launched and am happy with everything - the size, screen, price, battery, internet speed, feel, build quality, camera, OS, email, SkyDrive - except the app selection. In particular, Nokia's maps and navigation have a lot of problems - I got spoiled using Google's on my last phone (Atrix). I'll probably go back to Android again when the S4 launches.

Watched the "show" Samsung put on at Radio City Music Hall. Wow, what a weak way to unveil your flagship device.

That being said it looks like a sweet smartphone.

Air gestures sounds really cool. I'm so used to swiping the glass, that would take some getting use to. When you guys pick one up let us know how the eye tracker works for auto scrolling.

How the mighty have fallen. Apple not too long ago was in this situation and now no one really cares about the iPhone and it's all about the Galaxy phone. Gotta admit though that Samsung has done a helluva job coming out with some really cool features.

I don't know if "no one cares" about the iPhone anymore. Apple has definitely lost its stranglehold on the smartphone crowd but its still has a huge following. Samsung has definitely stepped up.

Lol you guys are hilarious. Apple has lost nothing they just gained some competition that's all. They still sell an ass load of phones and tablets. They aren't going anywhere.

Edit: and three hours after I posted this, Gruber really agrees with me. lol.

The air gestures sounds like a gimmick. Hands on accounts say you have to almost be touching the screen.

But the ability to use with gloves will be useful for winter weather.

Some of the features seem to be in competition with things like Google Now and Translate.

Well, I finally took the plunge to the Android world personally after many years of iPhones. I usually buy my phones unlocked because of my overseas travels so I haven't really upgraded my plan with Rogers for about a decade. But when I saw the new HTC One, I said to myself 'This is it'.

Gorgeous display, love the interface and that beat sound feature surely has some pop in it. It's not too big, not small, so far I am quite content. I did find that on some games or apps, the Iphone 5 was sharper and quicker when opening up as I encountered some crushes on the same apps for the Android.

Just have to learn a few more things, but overall I am quite impressed with the One.
