Good times at Sawgrass Mark, you're quite the putting machine especially on the back nine. Next time please turn off the swing meters, those drove me crazy especially when I missed a four foot eagle!
I joined the session you had set up and was surprised when the meters were on, I don't like playing with them on anymore either, the putting has a totally different feel with meters on and I didn't get the hang of them again until the back 9.
My bad, I thought you had set it up. I created the session without realizing it, must remember to be more careful. The swing meter and putting meter is obtrusive, invasive, and just plain ugly. I don't realize how anyone plays with them. You're right, we were even after nine and you putted like your life depended upon it.

It is a bit different setting up a match in a created room. I realized I'd erred on the game I created when Sawgrass came up. No doubt it would have been Pro or Amateur if I'd looked further at it. That's when I backed right out and set up the game again at Dubai. I missed seeing Vader's eagle on 7, as I was having to use my imagination to make birdie. I think on the other par 5 at Dubai, I hit a 7-iron from 185 yards, and still flew the green with my approach!? 25 MPH winds are not my forte!

It sux ass when I go to play one today and I have to pay cash to play it. Which is NOT going to happen.

Seriously. I would have to pay CASH( ITS NOT COIN operated like the other courses I dont have) to play the Masters Daily.

Here is a pic of my screen after I choose my golfer.

Again it will not let me use in game coins. What is your definition of a money grab?

You dont happen to work there do you? :P

Again is there a chance we could limit this trash to the weekdays?

XXXIV, I forgot Augusta Par 3 was part of the Collector's Edition. I am a bit surprised that it's apparently only available via real cash. I thought they had set this up where you could buy any course, or at least rounds on any course, via in game coins?

Lesson learned, this won't happen again and my apologies for overlooking it here

Its cool. I dont think you would know it was like that unless you didnt have the CE.

With the NFL starting soon, Im just asking for saturday when I know I can play that one magical +6 round.

Even though I dont play that much, my player isnt loaded and I go through some goofy baffling stretches of missing the fairways, I still enjoy it when I do play.

Currently attending the LPGA Canadian open in Vancouver with my 6 year old girl, where rookie Lydia Ko from NZ is taking the lead. She's only 15 and what a story would be if she wins it all.

We were sitting in the 9th hole when Christie Kerr is preparing for her putt and hands a signed Titleist ball to my kid. I thought that was pretty cool. 8)

Those of you still playing the game in our OCC may have noticed that we didn't have a Daily club tournament yesterday. There were problems with EA's OCC website and the software wouldn't let me create a new tournament. The creation software didn't even list the courses; it just had a blank field where the course names usually appear. I could tell there was some work going on with the site, as there would be different fields with "null" in them when I'd return and make a later attempt.

I'll try again today and see if I can't get a Daily going. I'll set it for a 2:00 PM EDT start if it works.

Thanks John for still setting up the tourneys. With all the new games lately, my participation has decreased but I'll try to drop by whenever I can.

Strongly agree! Though I have not been playing much lately, I am very glad these continue to be scheduled. I hope to play again soon.

Same here, I plan to keep Tiger Woods in my game rotation but have slacked a bit with Madden and NHL being released the last couple of weeks.

I understand completely guys. Now that the real football season has started, my attention will be diverted considerably and I'll be playing Tiger 13 less. Tiger has also lost some of its mojo to me as well. It's lacking refinement in a few key areas that would make it a much deeper game. I'm really tired of having to watch the game in follow cam mode when I play Live Tournaments. Follow cam just somehow cheapens the experience for me.

I also wish the tempo based swing relied on rhythm as much as it does pace. The interface still feels too twitchy for me. I don't feel as linked to the control of my golfer as I think I could be if I were required to control his rhythm if there was an acceleration/inertial component involved.

I'm not sure what's happening to me as a sports gamer here lately. I don't really seem to get into team sports games all that much. Madden, NCAA 13, and NHL 13 all seem like great games (particularly NHL 13) based on the Season Ticket extended play I had with them, but I don't feel the urge to play them full time. Last year I just rented NCAA 12 and played through my favorite team's (Duke) regular season... I know, if I played with a real football team I might have a different opinion  When that was over, I didn't have enough context to make any of the rest of the game feel relevant. I'll probably wind up renting NCAA 13 and doing the same this year.

NHL 13 feels the best of the three, but I've lost whatever hockey bug I used to have and I don't have the drive to learn the controls for the game well enough to play it properly. I got beat up pretty bad using Pro difficulty during the Season Ticket weekend, and it was mostly because I didn't have the basic controls down well enough to do what I thought needed to be done.

Basketball games hold my attention longer. I play an entire season every year using College Hoops 2K8 still. I'll probably break down and rent NBA 2K13 long enough to play an entire NBA season as the (gulp) Bobcats...

Racing and golf get the lion's share of my video gaming time these days, but that's what seems to float my boat so I go with it. My appetite for real football, college and pro, is proably the biggest cause of my shortened attention span for team sports games while those seasons are in progress.

John, all points well taken. Regarding NHL, there's an option where you can go back to the '94 controls if you wish. Catch you on the greens eventually.

I've been playing Madden 13 and now, NHL 13 pretty much non-stop but will drop in occasionally to play TW13 dailies (Thanks John for setting these up for us. :!: ).

John, I truly believe you would enjoy NHL 13 more if you continue to play it. IMO, this game plays the closest to the real sport of all the EA major sports games.

Update on the Tiger 13 scene:

I'm going to keep the Dailies and Weeklies going, although my participation will probably be minimal if at all for the next 6 weeks. I broke my 5th metacarpal in my left hand along with my right clavical in a bicycle wreck Thursday evening. The temporary cast I had on my left hand until Monday allowed me ample thumb motion and palm clearance to get a proper feel for the swing. The permanent cast doesn't allow for either. I tried switching to a right thumbstick swing but it's an unmitigated disaster... can't even make to golfer finish the swing 90% of the time - and I'm right-handed!? When I do get a swing, it's a controlled train wreck.

I'm going back to the orthopaedist today to see if he can modify the opening in the cast for my left thumb. It's cutting into the base of the thumb and rubbing me raw. I don't know if that will help me pull off a golf swing if he gets me some clearance there, but dang it, I want to be able to pull my zipper down without having to bite a bullet when I need to take a leak!

Oh Mark, I spent more time with the NHL 13 demo since your message. Yes, the game is sweet and I used the classic controls to give me something I was familiar with. I'm just not being bitten by the hockey bug enough to learn to play the game better. I loved hockey on the Genesis in the early to mid 90's, but the affair mysteriously ended when the Genesis withered away.

John:

My wife has been trying to get me to pull down my bike that is hanging from our garage ceiling and go riding with her. However, your little accident has convinced me otherwise (I'll stick to my nightly walk around my subdivision. ).

When you recover from your injuries lets try and play some NHL 13 and I'll give you some tips on using the analog sticks.

I also plan on getting back to playing the TW dailies again since I just replaced my dead 8 year-old 50" Samsung DLP HDTV (too expensive to repair) with a 55" LG LCD/LED HDTV.

I do a lot of cycling from April through October every year. I had just topped the 1,400 mile mark for this season when my accident occurred... well, it really wasn't an accident, it was incompetent brake operation on my part. I was getting ready to turn into my neighborhood and was operating my bike computer with my right hand instead of the rear brake, as I should have been doing. My left hand didn't "feather" the front brake; it locked it down and over the handlebars I went at ~16 MPH!

I'll give it a shot. I could tell enough to realize that it would add to the gameplay to get that two stick interface down pat, I just didn't have enough drive to go through the learning process.

Which model LG did you get? I bought a 60" Sharp edge-lit LED (LC-60LE640U) back in July, and I'm having a mild case of buyer's remorse over it. It doesn't have the image "pop" that my conventional TFT 2009 Toshiba LCD has. It also suffers from motion judder in team sports games, particularly football. I guess I could say it's "passable", but my Toshiba that I now use in the rec room beats it handily in head-to-head comparison. It actually performs best as a gaming monitor for the 360 :) My wife and kids are happy with it, saying they see no difference, but the difference to me is fairly pronounced.

I'm going to try the Daily today with my modified cast. My thumb has more freedom of motion, but I think it's still going to be a bit of a bother. I'm more disappointed with Tiger 13 at this point in its life than I thought I'd be, but it's clearly better than 12 and it's the only game in town for online console golf gaming. I just see so many little things that could have been done to transform this game into something much better!

I'll send you and invitation, we were one member short of a full boat, so I added my son's Gamertag to our roster to round it out. I can remove him and add you.

I have been keeping tournaments going for the most part, although I'm playing Tiger Woods 10 a lot more than 13 in the last two months. I played today's par 3 tournament at Augusta, and will probably wind up playing our club's weekly at Scottsdale, since I'm off until Friday night.

I'm trying to find my Tiger Woods 13 legs after a layoff, and it suddenly feels so sterile to me. Yes, the chipping and pitching game stands out, but that's the only areas that it doesn't feel pedantic. I've been playing a lot of Tiger Woods 10 in the last five or six weeks, and the swing interface just has so much more rhythm in it. I like the meterless precision putting in Tiger Woods 10 so much better. I hope this new "Swing Style" feature they're just now starting to hint about will allow me to tailor a swing style that captures some of the flowing magic the Tiger Woods 10 swing interface and putting provided... for me at least.
