Atlanta is a dangerous team as are the Pats as usual.
How is Atlanta dangerous? The Falcons have a whopping two victories against playoff-bound teams this season. Denver in Week 2 and Washington in Week 5. The Falcons haven't beaten a playoff team since Oct. 7.

Plus the Falcons are 29th in the NFL in rushing. They're toast if Ryan has an off day. Atlanta's defense is 23rd against the pass and 21st against the run.

The final DVOA numbers don't lie -- Atlanta is 10th:

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Atlanta is one and done. The Falcons are a mirage. Paper tigers.

WTF are you talking about? The Texans SUCK right now and have gotten worse every week since the Baltimore game. I don't believe in jinxes, but I do know when teams are playing well and when they are imploding and the Texans are imploding. How the hell you get that ridiculous take is beyond me. Remember, I played in the NFL, so I think I know WTF I am talking about......

I am saying that the Vikings could pull an upset against GB if Peterson continues with his torrent run. They are peaking at the right time, now of course they just need to learn how to win a game outdoors and figure out A. Rodgers.

Seahawks stronger D and speed may just contain the read option stuff that they like to use with RG3. The physical corners will limit RG3 passing options, at least that's my hope. M.Lynch will have to establish his game early and let's not overlook the home team's ground game.

Hawks in a squeaker.

Flacco's experience will outduel Luck and I think the Bengals will advance in a rather close affair by a FG.

I also don't think the Falcons will do much.

Broncos look strong going all the way to the SB.

Vikings better hope for a windy snowstorm, which would neuter Rodgers and make Peterson even more effective. Green Bay is 7-1 at Lambeau this season; Minnesota is 3-5 on the road.

I generally think anything can happen in an NFL playoff game. That said, the chance of the Vikings beating GB in Lambeau on Sunday is pretty close to zero.

I love AP to pieces, but I think the Packers absolutely crush them outside, at home in a win or go home game.

Given the wonderlic scores of most NFL guys, that's not exactly saying much for your intellect. But hey, at least you know the difference between the sam, mike and the will linebacker. Woohoo!

Easy on the overreaction, goodness. Short fuse. And last I checked, the two times the Giants won a ring, they kinda backed into the playoffs. It can happen again.

Every time I see Suh on TV, more for the Subway commercial or clips showing his dirty play than dominating on the field, I remember questioning using a high pick on him:

viewtopic.php?p=296546#p296546

He's got good stats, particularly 22 sacks in 3 seasons, which is good for an interior lineman. But Detroit has not been a top defense in his 3 seasons. Run and pass defense have been poor or average.

Meanwhile some of the players chosen AFTER Suh in the 2010 draft include Earl Thomas, Joe Haden, CJ Spiller, Jason Pierre-Paul, Demarius Thomas, Gronkowski, JimmyGraham, Carlos Dunlap.

Will be interesting to see what happens if Suh hits free agency.

Thanks for the personal attack on my intellect......

The Giants were on a ROLL when they won their last two rings. Can you honestly say with a straight face that the Texans are on a roll? How is your Wunderlich score?

I can't help it their division sucks. :)

They play great at home, which is where they will be throughout.

Didn't attack you personally, just NFL players in general. If you're part of that group, then well, I can't do anything about that.

As for the Texans, of course they aren't, but that doesn't mean that this weekends game can't start a roll, a la the Giants. That was my point. It doesn't matter what you do to get to the playoffs...just matters what you do IN the playoffs.

So comparing my intellect to NFL players in a negative way isn't personal? I'll keep that in mind when responding to you in the future.....

When the Giants won the SB the last couple of times, they were on a ROLL going INTO the playoffs. You don't just flip a switch and start playing well once you reach the playoffs as the Texans are. If you can't understand that, then I can't help you understand what I have been posting.

New Orleans Saints, 2009 season. 1-3 in December and lost the last three going to the playoffs. Ring on their finger. It CAN happen. And the Giants flipped the switch in December...were terrible until that time both years (or at least average, like the Texans).

So if you want the PERFECT example of the Texans chances, just look back 3 years. Dominant first 3/4 and then to sh*t going to the playoffs and voila...Lombardi in the trophy case.

Not going to happen with the Texans because Matt Schaub can't even be mentioned in the same sentence with Drew Brees or Eli Manning....HUGE difference.

But you claim I don't understand what you're posting and I pointed you to the perfect example of a team losing three in a row going to the playoffs and then winning it all. I'm not sure what more you think there is to argue about? The quality of the QB helps, sure, but not the entire picture (see Dilfer, Trent).

Have you followed the Texans at all? If not, then quit trying to justify your argument. The Texans were ranked #1 in the NFL Power Rankings FOUR weeks ago. Now they are NINTH and free falling as they are not executing in any of the 3 phases of the game....

OFFENSE: 1 touchdown in the past 12 quarters. Inexcusable.

DEFENSE: Giving up huge pass plays in every game in the past 4, gave up a 70 yarder last week on 3rd and 23 in Cover 4 which is basically prevent defense. Inexcusable.

SPECIAL TEAMS: have given up 5 TD returns this year and last week gave up a 102 yd KO return and the receiver was UNTOUCHED. Inexcusable and evidently not easily correctable since this has been going on all season.

Kubiak has lost this team as there is NO excuse for a team with 8 Pro Bowlers to be playing so poorly in all phases.

Are you starting to understand the pessimism? If not, then don't bother responding as you would be the only one in this thread who doesn't "get" or agree with my pessimism.

Bill Barnwell believes (and I agree) that teams "rolling in hot" the playoffs is significantly overrated - if not completely irrelevant. A winning, yet "cold" team, like Houston is just as likely to win the SB as a team a "hot at the end of the season" team. It's really good read:

Fair enough, but I have watched every minute (with the exception of the GB and NE blowouts) of every Texans game and they have not played a good game since the 7th game against Baltimore. Three of the past 4 games, they are completely out of sync and have been dominated in the areas that they dominate when they are on "their" game. I hope they prove me wrong and can actually "flip the switch".

Funny...just listed to his podcast w/ Simmons and he brought up the same 2009 Saints team I did. And I'm not even an expert! WTF!

$500 on the Packers this Saturday. My friend is a huge Vikings fan and has 2 tickets. I'll be there. Hopefully GB wins. I just can't see Ponder being able to handle Lambeau in January. 31-17 Packers. AP can't do it on his own for yet another week.

Packers vs Patriots is the SB the Nfl wants, and I think it gets it. Although Denver is a nice story with Peyton back to form.

Texans sure do suck. Pretty much dominated the game but still had some issues getting in the end zone but a w is a w in the playoffs.

Two whole f***in touchdowns in their last 3 games, so yes they DO SUCK. They will get f***in ROLLED in Foxboro if they play like they did today (except for the defense)...

Yeah tight defensive affair. Texans tightened up the D when it mattered the most with 4 minutes to go

Looking forward to see what Peterson can do in alien territory.
