What are you excited for in 2013 gaming?

Post by pigpen81 »

As we wind down 2012 I had a few things I am excited about in 2013:

1) Grand Theft Auto V - I am still playing GTA San Andreas on my trusty XBox and loving it. Maybe I will have ti finished by the time V comes out. With a map larger then SA, RDR and IV out together, holy cow! They just released screenshots with a mini-sub and and cool looking shark. They mentioned the ocean floor in the game will be fully explorable.

2) Ouya - For $100, I am excited about what it can do. Androis games on my TV....cool.

3) Steambox? - A rumored steam box is supposed to be out in 2013. Being that I don't own a PC capable of playing todays games, s steam box that will allow me to play PC games on my TV sounds awesome. As long as the price is right :)

4) Xbox 720? - I cannot wait to hear the details.

1) Tomb Raider Reboot - I've really enjoyed the last few Crystal Dynamic versions, Legend, Underworld, and their remake of the original, Anniversary. The Arcade version, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was a lot of fun, too. I'm anxious to see how a more cinematic, as well as RPGistic, version will be. These guys have really nailed the franchise, and saved it in the process.

2) Xbox 720 - I'm looking forward to Microsoft incorporating a lot of the ideas they have been trying to implement into the 360 in more streamlined way. I'm really curious how Kinect will be used, as we pretty much use nothing but the mic for voice control. The only Kinect games that get used are the Dance Central stuff when my daughter has friends over. But we do use the 360 for Netflix, renting movies over XBL, Crunchyroll for anime, and for music via LastFM. I'm on the fence about investing in Xbox Music, but we may get there on the next console. Oh, and hopefully the games will be good, too!

Info on the new Xbox definitely has me interested. PS4??? Nothing really has me geeked as far as games. I guess GTA V would be the biggest game along with the usual yearly updates of MLB The Show and a few other sports games.

GAMES:
GTA V
Battlefield 4
Madden 14
NHL 14
F1 2013

HARDWARE:
Xbox 720, although it's highly unlikely I'll purchase on launch day. But a purchase is inevitable since the Xbox 360 has replaced the Dreamcast as my favorite gaming console. The 360 also is a kick-ass media center.

The only game I actually look forward to is MLB The Show...so that and new consoles is about it...but of course I'll buy other games like GTA V and BF4 as mentioned by others. But I don't actually look forward to them and count the days.

I'm hoping Sony gets off it's ass and does something with the Vita. I would like to see more EA Sports games like NHL, NCAA Football. I'd like to see 2K basketball on the Vita.

Hmm let's see. Aliens: Colonial Marines could be really good or it could suck. Crysis 3 - same thing. The new Tomb Raider could be really good also. Or it could suck.

Bioshock Infinite. Very, very excited for this one.

Last of Us.

GTA V I am hoping is more like GTA Vice City in that I enjoy it enough to play through to the end. Also, we had some amazingly fun times in GTA IV in the co-op stuff so I hope this one provides a similarly unique kind of co-op fun and more co-op missions.

Grid 2, but I'm not all that optimistic it will bring back the good old days of ToCA online DSP awesomeness. It may, though.

Metro: Last Light. I finally scored a used copy of the Metro 2033 and while I'm not far enough in to make a judgement I am enjoying it so far.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist but only because Teal said it would mark the return of the amazing and incredible multiplayer of former SC iterations. I've been missing that kind of asymmetrical, team-based multiplayer something fierce.

NHL, Madden and F1 are all no-brainers for me as is FIFA, though with that one I may or may not end up playing it much at all.

And of course I am anticipating the new Xbox console but need to see some good, real info about it to really get excited.

New consoles please. Even if I'm not committed to buying at launch, let's get the ball rolling; the sooner it releases, the sooner we get fully developed second generation software.

GTA V would be the only game I'm excited about.
Interested in Bioshock Infinite and the Beyond: Two Souls (by Heavy Rain developers).
Will get excited once there is some real next xbox news.

I'm not giddy about anything really. Can't find the room to start looking at what's next...still overwhelmed with what I have. That said, I'll be purchasing Splinter Cell for sure. No idea beyond that.

Tiger Woods 14 and new consoles.....you have not seen much information about TW14, but it is going to start coming after the first of the year and some of you may be adding this to your lists.....will create a new TW14 thread when EA gives us the green light to start discussing the new game....

Been thinking about this thread a lot more and now I'm really getting anxious to 'see' the new Xbox and/or PS4 at E3. A year ago I wasn't even thinking about the new consoles. Lets face it, MS (outside of the RROD debacle at launch) has done one hell of a job with the 360. If they can take what makes the 360 the best console ever and evolve it should be a tremendous console. More memory, better graphics, the best online component going, tremendous 3rd party support, and a nice surprise or two :) = a bright future. Sony has to 'show me something' for me to become giddy for their new console. One of my annual favorite games (MLB The Show) is made by Sony so I am rooting for them. This time next year some of us will have the new MS console. I will, no doubt, be getting it at launch. The 360 experience has been too good to wait on jumping in.

I don't see why new consoles are needed yet. I'm perfectly happy w/ the graphics from the top tier games for the most part. There are a few instances where the PC can crush the 360 (Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2) but those games are the minority. Usually the jump isn't so significant. It's not until all games have that gap that I usually start jonesing for a new console. That said, I'll still be first in line to buy both the Microsoft and Sony consoles when they are released.

I really wish The Show wasn't a Sony exclusive because there is no way I'd buy the next Sony console if it wasn't. Unfortunately it's my favorite yearly release and I simply HAVE to play it.

I tried to play FC3 at a buddy's of mine and the framerate (or lack there of) made me sick to my stomach and gave me a headache. I've read the thread and some people don't see the issue. Well I certainly do and it's because of that game alone I'm now ready for new hardware. After seeing the videos of the game in action on a high end PC, I'd say it's time for new console hardware.

I will be getting my usual annual batch of sports games and curious to see the improvements in TW 14 country club. 'The Show' for sure as I look forward to a winning season with the Jays :) .

The usual action/shooter in GTA, Battlefield 4, Crysis 3.

Not in a rush at all to see a new hardware, while it may finally make its appearance during late 2013, and I will probably buy it, the first releases while gorgeous will fall short of expectations.

Hopefully, the game developers will have enough time and expertise with the new consoles to produce full featured games unlike what happened with the early games for Xbox 360 and PS3.
