Holy Tom Brady s***. You kidding me?
Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
Well, that didn't last too long as Crabtree silenced the crowd. The 4th quarter didn't look as the 49'ers were the best D in the league, but the home team gave it a good try in the end. Damn, I was rooting for Hoodie's team.XXXIV wrote:Holy Tom Brady s***. You kidding me?

I was hoping both teams would lose but a Patriot loss never fails to ease the pain of a bad week.10spro wrote: Damn, I was rooting for Hoodie's team.

Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
I think they are just going to have to completely rebuild. The window on this iteration of the Bears defense has closed, and they need to look at replacing Peppers, Urlacher, and eventually Tillman and Briggs. I think Cutler, Marshall, Forte, and maybe Jeffrey are the only offensive pieces worth salvaging. I don't think Lovie is a bad coach, but he's not a coach who's going to win a championship for you. Tice is another in a long line of joke offensive coordinators in Chicago. Taub and Marinelli are the only coaches worth keeping, but Taub is probably going to get promoted somewhere and a new HC may want his own guy as his defensive coordinator.RobVarak wrote:It's all deck chairs on the Titanic though. The Packers were at least 2 TDs better than the Bears in terms of quality all day. Lovie's got to go. They need to bring in a real, bona fide OC, rebuild the line and figure out how to shore up an aging defense. Most important offseason in Chicago in a long time this spring/summer.
What I'd like to see them do is put all their eggs in the offensive basket for right now. Get three new reliable starters on the offensive line and a real TE. Look for a veteran WR who can at least be a solid third receiver behind Marshall and Jeffrey. Because if I'm going to watch an 8-8 or 9-7 team for the next couple of seasons, at least let it be fun to watch.

I really don't see it with Forte and I never did. Good player but not a top 10 back in the league. Guy can't gain 1 yard when you need it and you need to bring in someone else for that role you're not a top back.

Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
I don't necessarily disagree on Forte (although I think you might be undervaluing his consistency a bit), but those are not the plays to use to evaluate him. That sequence on the goal line was the last straw in finalizing the argument that this is the single worst NFL offensive line that I've ever seen. They got absolutely blown up on every play. They got flat out blown up on ever snap.Danimal wrote:I really don't see it with Forte and I never did. Good player but not a top 10 back in the league. Moreover, damn near every RB in the league has either a short yardage compliment or a 3rd down compliment. Forte is a totally brilliant pass blocker, so he stays in on 3rd but gets a hand with the short yardage. I don't have a problem with that.
Brando, I think the only way to win in the modern NFL is to put all the eggs in the offensive basket. The way the rules are now, you just don't get value from investing in defense. You need a reasonable D to win a championship, but you can save money by just focusing on one aspect of the defense and spending a larger portion of the pie on offense. The Bears model of spending $2 on D for every $1 of offense is idiotic in the new NFL world. You don't need all pro talent at every level of defense (personally I'd follow the Giants model and spend 75% of my defensive budget on the DL). You absolutely need an OL who can pass block and multiple weapons on offense to win now.

Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
Forte has finished in the top 10 in total yards the last two seasons. He's not a top back but he is good and he is one of the most versatile backs in the league. He gets killed in short yardage situations because this line cannot generate any kind of push in short yardage.
The o-line and TE killed the Bears this year. They have other problems, but I think that's what kept them from being an NFC version of the Texans. I think their cap situation next season will prevent them from being able to address those issues quickly in free agency, so we may be looking at blow-it-up time.

Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
Hey Texans....WTF was THAT? You will lose in Indy next week losing a bye and home field advantage, then you will lose your only playoff game as you were EXPOSED by the Vikings and you are barely a mediocre team. Same s***, different week as the most overrated team in the NFL.

Rams Win, Rams Win, Rams Win!
Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
Victory formation and this a Ram win. 7-7-1. 500 baby!
An IMPROBABLE win in Seattle next week and they would have their first winning season since 2003.

I was worried about the Mayans but now that they are out of the way... nothing is going to stand in the way of the Rams 2013 Super Bowl season.
Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
I never expected the Redskins to be over 0.500 this season. Just incredible. Now it all comes down to next week vs the Cowboys. And if the Giants lose this evening, even better!!

Going to be tough to beat Seattle, but we have come a long way in one season.

I don't want to see Devin Hester return another punt in Bear uniform ever. Talk about a player who has fallen off the map.

It's early, but Wilson-Lynch are looking very good so far against a tough Niners' D.

Re: NFL Season 2012-2013
You know XXXIV, I remember the beginning of the season when SEA was on their typical annual win one, lose one record until they lost that ugly game against your very own Rams in ST Louis after beating GB at home. From that game on, I think Carroll just unleashed Wilson for good and let him loose as Seahawks started to air the ball more frequently in addition to an already solid ground game. As I mentioned last week, if they win today they could be dangerous in the playoffs, especially if the D continues to play tough and learn to win more on the road.
Good half.
Good half.

Rams upset Seattle next week, mark it down!
