I bumped the overall game speed to 55 because I too thought the game play a little sluggish. Made a big difference. Also, fatigue plays a pretty significant role.....can't rely on holding down R2 or your players get winded pretty quickly.

Funny thing about that fatigue factor - The Wii U tablet doesn't seem that useful to me overall, however I was watching a developer video where they showed off the two main functions of the Wii U pad in NBA2K13... Calling plays/subs (an obvious choice) and a feature where you hold the pad in front of the screen (while players are moving), and you see their biometric(?) info regarding fatigue (in sort of a medical x-ray overview of their bodies). I thought it was a silly idea at first, but maybe not.

I've only had a few hours to play but the game is amazing. This has been a GREAT fall season for games. But with all the other games I feel like I am giving up something. NHL is the game in heaviest rotation and it's great fun but there are far too few penalties and outside of the top stars the players really don't look or play close enough to their real life counterparts. Madden is fun but the new engine has some comical side-effects and the presentation is miles and miles behind NBA 2K13 or where NFL 2K5 was for that matter. PES 2013 is the best soccer game I've played but there is no season mode for crying out loud, the graphics and presentation are just OK, and PES is always hampered by its lack of licensing.

NBA 2K13 appears to be the total package. I've had a few great and realistic games out of the box on Pro with simulation. The ebb and flow of an NBA game is well represented. I can identify all the players by their appearance or the way they play. The presentation is outstanding. The stats are great. The immersion factor is incredible. The gameplay is responsive and the new control mechanism is much more intuitive. The graphics and animations are fantastic. It feels like I'm controlling a real live NBA game. It is definitely the most polished and complete package in sports gaming. The only problem is it may mimic the NBA too much. That is, do I like the NBA enough to play it over games like NHL, Madden, and PES? Only time will tell but I'm anticipating the answer to be no.

I found these ISO control tips from Beluba over at the OS forums. Found them to be pretty helpful tips so far.

What camera do you guys use? I'm using broadcast right now but have used Nosebleed and 2K cams in the past.

I've always used 2K cam, so its tough for me to switch. I find it easier move and to see plays develop facing teh basket. This year the 2K cam is zoomed much further out, so I zoom in a bit.

I prefer playing on Broadcast. I just can't get use to the 2K cam, although that would be my second choice. It's far and away the best cam for one one moves though.

I skipped 2k12, so the MyCareer thing is new to me, but I'm digging it. Haven't gotten into a created player mode like this in quite a few years.

I agree with DB that the controls feel just a tad sluggish, but I'm already adapting.

The game is definitely a product of "too many animations required" to make it look more realistic. I'm actually kinda turned off by all of the animations that you're essentially forced into. The game is still ridiculously good and it's better than last years, just from a realism standpoint, but it's really difficult to get use to all the animations. It's all about predicting what animation you're going to be thrown in to and then using the corresponding finger gymnastics on the right stick to prevent it. Gonna take a while to get it all down I assume.

I'm also a little turned off by the inside play this year. It appears to be a little too easy on both sides to get into the paint and score, resulting in high PiP numbers on both sides.

Sounds like the old Winning Eleven or PES games, with the Super Cancel button! :)

This game is ridiculously good. So complete from top to bottom. I'm not a NBA fan in the least (until playoff time), but I love this game!

I started my NBA league on xbox 360. Its oldskool22, password is peter. Got tired of waiting for updated online roster, but if there is one in the next week or two I may restart. Feel free to join as any open team. Try and schedule user v user games, if possible. Its very casual. No experts or stick jockeys here. Only real rule is headset is required when you play a user v user game.

I didn't post on the DSP league forum since the 6 or so guys already in are not DSP, but they are all mature adult gamers.

There were some issues with current league and updated rosters are out, so I will be making a new league this week.

I do agree that my PIP numbers are too high, but for some reason I don't mind. Nothing is "money", turnovers are always a risk, and my shooting percentages are still very realistic. Therefore, I'm not going to mess with anything to make it harder as it seems fair at least when playing the CPU. The only thing I've done with sliders is increase my defensive rebounding. I'm very happy with the simulation settings along with "use real %" for FG and FT.

For many years I used the 2K cam exclusively but strayed a couple years ago as they improved the broadcast cam. For some reason I ventured back to 2K this year and I'm really glad I did. I really enjoy being able to see the court from that perspective.

The number of animations and the attention to detail in this game is unreal. *Every* player on my Sixers team looks and plays like the real thing....all they way down to the end of the bench. It really makes it a lot of fun and strategic working within their strengths and weaknesses.

I bought this on Steam over the weekend.Half the price of the consoles, and yes, missing some features, but I don't care.

I was just curious what camera you guys all used. I've been playing on the default so far, and the first thing I can say is I need to learn to pass better because i give the ball away toooooo much. Just wondering if i'd be helped with another camera or something.

ya, i've started using that and it helps a ton.

Now if i could just get better at starting drives from dribble moves, i could score another 20 points a game.......

Picked this up on BF and am really digging it.

I played it the last 2 years but It seemed that default was always too difficult for me. But this year, maybe they dumbed the game down for casual players like me but on default pro I am having a great time.

I think this is only game out there where the teams actually play like their real life counterparts. And the whole NBA TODAY thing is excellent as always.

I noticed they have copied an Ultimate team mode. Has anyone played this yet? Is it just like EA's or a bit different. I skimmed thru it but didnt see how you can buy extra packs etc....

I've been playing my Sixers franchise and loving it. I haven't done anything but franchise and random NBA Today games. I get very competitive games on default pro.

I play primarily offline. Are there any significant improvements over 2k12 that warrant spending the extra $40? I play pretty close to sim and I know basketball well enough, but 2k games have always felt a bit clunky to me in the past.

$40 I dont know. I got the last 3 2K games for $25 and under.

The best thing about this year's game for me is it's made for the casual basketball gamer. The difficulty is toned down alot imo and this year I don't have to mess with sliders to have competitive games on default.
