The rust is wearing off. I had some great rounds last night on Domination. Even placed first once and second a few times.
I was enjoying this almost as much as COD4. Maybe since I've had a break - I barely played any MW3 and Black Ops online.
Lots of really good maps on this one.

Best maps of any of the games since CoD 4: Modern Warfare IMO.

So I finally unlocked the M27, this game's version of the M4, and it goes a long way to making me feel like I'm playing COD proper.

As for the maps, still too early for me to form an opinion. I thought BO1 and MW3 had crappy maps, but I liked the maps in MW1 and 2.

So after a few years break from the series, I Redboxed this over the holiday week and put a ton of hours into it.

Gotta say I like it, and decided to buy it.

I really like the mapsets. Most have a really good flow to them, and a good chunk of them allow for different playstyles to be successful. I also like what they did with the scorestreaks and such toning down the constant killstreak barrages.

COD is COD, so it's fast and furious, but the gameplay really suits itself towards popping in and playing with randoms for a few rounds, getting in, getting kills, getting out.

I haven't really found lag to be a major issue if I search for 'best' connections, and I'm happy that at near 40 years old I still have a buck fifty k/d ratio, which is plenty good enough for me. :)

I just got my stats re-set, though, as apparently did everyone who played on Sunday. Oh well.

I know most here favor the slower, more teamwork-based play of other shooters, but if a poker night for this ever springs up, I'm in.

I echo those sentiments Web. Even on campaign I find myself quite immersed in the story so far, I am enjoying the maps in MP and no lags. It's all good.

What's a PS3? I think you mean the MLB The Show machine.

It got me the exact same way. I Redboxed it over a long weekend figuring I would play it a bit then quickly become sick of it. Nope....bought it a few days later.

Exactly how I play it. In BF3 and even Medal of Honor I stick some game time into them, but COD is definitely a get in, get out type of game experience for me as well.

I don't remember it being that way in MW1 and 2 (provided you knew someone was coming and had them dead to rights), or maybe I am getting rusty.
Hay Naples, out of curiosity, do you have a really fast connection? I've been reading a lot on various messageboards how it's the compensation tactics that Treyarch is using that is causing 'lag-like' behavior in those who generally have better connection speeds. Wonder if that is what you are running into? Some folks have apparently seen their in-game performance *improve* by limiting their speeds (downloading files simultaneously, etc). Crazy if true, and could just be bs, but interesting nonetheless.

I think the netcode is definitely a factor. I have a pretty good internet connection, but nothing spectacular. I'm on a plan for 6 or 8 Mbps, but usually get 12-ish or more.

There are times when I join games of BO2 where I know I just have no chance. When I'm 0-10 in a round, start camping on a corner and die at the same time I see the attacker take his first shot, while my killcam shows the opponent getting off 5-10 shots, I just quit the match.

This is with connection set to "best". It is not unusual for me to join one game and go ~15-5, and then join another game and go ~1-15. I have never had this experience with any other COD game.

I think it's a combination or the netcode, generous auto-aim, and so many people using lightweight perk. The end result is, in certain matches against good players, they run straight at me, but they kill me before I have a chance to shoot even as I sit there waiting.

I've narrowed my game rotation to a few titles, and still dabbling in this game. I haven't had many WTF rounds recently, and have accepted to moving very deliberately compared to my teammates that run around like maniacs.

Either way, I saw this mentioned on the web and tried it out, but the FAL with the fire selector attachment allowing for automatic fire is pretty nasty. The fire rate is still very slow compared to the other ARs designed for auto-fire, but with each round packing so much punch it's enough. And it's fantastic for long range shooting, with very little kick.

I haven't bought COD maps since COD4. By the time the first DLC came out I had had enough of the online, finished the campaign and sold the game.

I'm still having a good time with Black Ops 2 online once or twice a week with a couple of friends, so I picked up the new maps. I still think $15 is a bit much for 4 MP maps, but some free ponts from Bing search eased the pain.

I played through each map once last night and I liked what I saw. First time is a b*tch though getting lost a bit as two of the maps, the snow and desert ones, are pretty big. The snowy map had some classic COD terrain with mountain cut corridors. One map is on the small side set in a skate park. The last one is a medium sized water treatment plant. Nice variety. There are some hazards on two of the maps. In the snow map you can get killed if you get hit by a ski lift car, which happened to me once. On the water plant map there is an underground area which periodically floods.

The new gun, the Peacemaker, is in the MP class with high power and long range. Its like a cross between an MP and Assault rifle.

The DLC also adds a zombie map and mode where you can play as the zombies. I have barely touched Zombie mode in Black Ops 2. I played Tranzit for a few minutes and was utterly confused.

I have sworn of this game due to the way the lag works. Seems like it could've been decent, but whatever they did to the server system makes it unplayable for me.
