That 10 minutes of Carrie and Brody in the interrogation room was some of the most riveting television I've ever watched. No idea what I'm gonna do when I have to return to my non-Showtime having home in a day or two! Looks like I might have to go back to my old days of the torrent.

Yeah, my wife was crying her eyes out at the end of Walking Dead. Such a significant difference this season with their new show runner.

I agree this season has been unreal. Since this is a spoiler.

They took a character I hated and one that wasn't used enough and I thought I didn't care about and killed them off. This made me really upset, I was also confused as to why i was so upset. Then I realized I had more invested in these people than I thought.

For me that is a surprise. I'm really digging this season.

I had a DVR apocalypse after seeing the first two of the season, so I need to get caught up on HBO Go. That said, I think the way they ended last season was a tremendous mistake. Having an anti-hero is obviously fine, but I don't think Buscemi's Nucky Thompson fits the bill. As entertaining as he is, there's just too little humor or pathos in him to make him a sympathetic figure. Once Jimmy is out of the picture, as annoying as he could be, you've cast aside the audience's strongest emotional link to the show. Many of the characters left are interesting (Richard first and foremost of course), but there's still not a clear picture of exactly who's story we're seeing at times.

For me, Nucky has become far less likable this season. At this point, there's almost nothing (or no one) for the audience to associate with and pull for.

You need to watch episode 3 and 4; that is the real springboard for the rest of this season, to the extent you didn't already see it coming...

"Breaking Bad" has no heroes, only different shades of darkness. Yet it's still the best show on TV.

I subscribe to the theory that a truly great show doesn't need heroes. Maybe I'm just a dark mofo. :)

Richard Harrow is a tormented character on "Boardwalk," but he still seems like he's trying to do the right thing. Same with Slater.

Eh, Boardwalk Empire is no Breaking Bad for me, which is probably my favorite show of all time. I practically care more and sympathize with every character in Breaking Bad, even the minor ones like Skinny Pete, than anyone in Boardwalk Empire.

You can be as dark as you want as an anti-hero like Walter, as long as there's a certain critical mass of redeeming qualities that makes you someone to whom the audience can relate. Walter's initial drive to want to protect his family in the face of his imminent death was something that made him incredibly sympathetic, as was his overall nerdiness. Even though he's devolved far from the person we met in the pilot, he remains someone that we support emotionally...if not intellectually.

I don't think Nucky has ever engendered that kind of sympathy. The writers may be to blame here, because they've more or less superficially addressed the kinds of things that feel constructed to make him sympathetic: The loss of his wife and child, his obviously miserable childhood with a hateful father and a twisted megalomaniac mentor etc. But we never saw those things through Nucky's eyes, so it's hard to have any emotional connection to them.

Season 2 is worth plowing through, even if it feels slow at times, but finishes strong. For nothing else, it will prepare you for Season 3, which has been absolutely fantastic.

After last night's episode, we are about to get into some dark, dark, stuff. While it is playing out completely differently than the comic, this next set of events that seem to be about to play out will be gut wrenching.

I actually thought this last episode of Walking Dead was a real dud. Merle killing that guy because he wanted to keep looking Michonne(?), then he decides to keep looking for her after he shoots him. huh??? This whole "the town isn't as perfect as it seems to be" seems to be going on forever. Every week this 'the governor is actually evil' bit has one at least one eye rolling moment per episode.

I have to admit I am still watching Revolution and mainly because of the same reasons as this review and frankly just so I can read this guys reviews.

If you want a good laugh at the absurdity of Revolution you should read this.

Can I have the record expunged of any nice thing I ever said about The League?

The writers know that saying about monkeys and typewriters isn't literally true, right?

Wow. I just read this season's The League reviews at the AV Club. Whatever hallucinogens that reviewer is on are pretty damn impressive. "Strongest season ever?" Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!?!?

It is really bad. Season three was uneven but had a good number of very funny shows. I'm a couple eps behind this season, but the only one up to the quality of previous seasons was when Raffi took Ruxin's kid to swimming ("Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" "Jerk-off party?"). The tailgate one was also okay, but there are a lot of bad episodes this season.

Ugh. I haven't seen any episodes this year yet. Season 3 started strong (the Shiva bowl shuffle was probably greatest season cold open ever) but was fading at the end IMO.

OMG. Anyone else messed up enough to watch "American Horror Story" and enjoy it? Without having to go to far back in the thread to see if anyone talked about it.

Season 2 of Homeland wasn't as good as the first season, but I was really sucked in and I enjoyed the last two episodes a lot. Aside from the annoying subplots centered around Brody's daughter and a few implausibilities, I thought the pacing was good and the overall story was very almost as good as last season's.

I definitely liked the first season more, mainly because there was more mysteriousness to it all, but the finale last night packed a pretty good punch. It sets up season 3 nicely for fresh storylines and reinvigorated characters.
