No way, Rod wastes money on tons of worthless crap. Almost as much as I do. No one out-cheaps PK. He's in a class by himself, tho he does seem to be letting the purse strings relax a bit of late.Teal wrote:You just might out-cheap PK...Rodster wrote:Awesome, counting the days towards the Best Buy $7.99 Limited Edition fire sale.

Really? On what? I'm more austere on my discretionary purchases than ever, and that's saying something.dbdynsty25 wrote:No way, Rod wastes money on tons of worthless crap. Almost as much as I do. Then again, I've shelled out nearly $1,000 on registration, equipment and tourney fees for my 7-year-old's hockey season. Not to mention another grand for our family season passes for skiing and probably another large for outdoor soccer and indoor soccer and lacrosse for two kids and travel-team lacrosse for my oldest daughter.
My time will come -- in about 15 years, when the Xbox 1440 hits the shelves.

I don't think I will have the time for two racing games as my current F-1 2012 can testify being stilll under wraps. But my gut feeling is that I will be eventually buying this game instead of forza.
And yes PK, Hockey can bankrupt any parent pretty soon and it can only get more expensive.

I think F1 2012 could become quite good once the patch is released. I was a bit disappointed when I learned Most Wanted was a successor/clone to Burnout Paradise.10spro wrote:I don't think I will have the time for two racing games as my current F-1 2012 can testify being stilll under wraps. The Burnout games always have been junk food for me. Taste great for about two weeks, and their their thrill and staying power drop off a cliff. I think I'm sticking with Forza Horizon. It just appears to have much more depth and replay value for me.

Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Burnout Paradise was really nothing much like the other Burnout games. It was completely open world, and some of the best spontaneous online play ever. I absolutely cannot wait for this one...or Horizon.

Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
I played the Paradise demo. I'm sure the demo represented only a tiny sliver of that open world and lacked online play, but it did nothing for me.Teal wrote:Burnout Paradise was really nothing much like the other Burnout games. Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Yep. The vids seem to indicate that Criterion are going for a little more weighty, realistic feel this time with the cars, since they're licensed and it's a different brand and all, though. But, tomato, tomahto...

Eurogamer's take on what NFS: MW is, what it isn't and so on:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012- ... or-burnout
Sounds a lot like a massive playground. I'm in, though with this, Forza and WRC 3 all due in the mext 3 weeks, I might not be in immediately.

Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Like Adam, I could definitely get this game for mindless, brainless fun -- especially with my sons -- if it goes on sale for $30 on Black Friday. It's a prime candidate since it's an EA title.

Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
One thing I REALLY dig about Most Wanted: All of the cars are unlocked right out of the box. That's MEGA. Very attractive and tempting.

Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
So disappointed that WRC 3 is not coming stateside.
Since there is no region lock on ps3 does anyone know if I can import the game and play that on my ps3 or will the PAL format be an issue?

That Eurogamer preview got me so jazzed for this. Thanks.

Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Thought about it and was very very close to selling, but I had purchased and sold it previously that I'd be a fool throwing money away continuously. I haven't played it in a long time, but Forza Horizon along with the Live community has rejuvunated my gaming interest. I still have the PS3 as well, but only play a couple titles for that console.Rodster wrote:I thought you sold your 360?sportdan30 wrote:Picked up a 360 rental copy this morning at Blockbuster. Picked up WWE '13 today for the 360 for my son, so I'm moving him towards the 360 as well. Hoping he plays online against his cousin.
Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Sorry, been playing ACIII all day...
LOVE it. Completely different game than Horizon, and quite a bit different from Burnout Paradise, as it turns out. Yes, there are ramps and billboards, crazy races and all that, but the physics have more 'heft' than Burnout Paradise cars. It's a fantastic change, more in line with the original Burnout games, honestly. There are only two cameras-bumper and third person. The sense of speed is fantastic, and it IS more arcadey than Horizon, except that crashes are actually...y'know...CRASHES. lol Getting cars is as easy as driving up to one and 'jacking' it. Then there are a ton of events that surround that car, upgrades can be made on the fly...it's just really good.

Re: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Wow...just wow.
I don't think a game has had a worse first impression on me in a long, long time. To me it feels like the controls are so sloppy I'm all over the place. It's got the dreaded "halfway through the turn radius you're sliding with no warning" effect that I hate in racing games. It feels loose, it feels sloppy as hell. Just trying to make a corner is an exercise in frustration. It's like the game is saying I'm arcade, go really fast!!!, then the cars turn like pigs and drive like dogcrap.
I'm seriously stunned at much much I dislike this game at the moment. I wouldn't have picked it up if I thought there was a chance I wouldn't like it, because I liked Burnout and never had an issue with the controls. But with both a gamepad and a wheel, I already hate this game like few others. I hope I'm just missing something and a switch will flick "on" for me at some point, but right now I'm so irritated with this game it isn't even funny.

Other than that, I just haven't played it enough to say much else. But man...I really, really like what I've played. Funny how that works.
