First impressions:

The control is demonstrably tighter and smoother compared to the demo. Cars have more 'weight', it seems, and are far less twitchy.

You don't get the Viper...not yet anyway. That was just a 'dream' scenario. But that opening segment is longer than the demo.

The game is simply gorgeous. The Horizon hub is a thing to behold, by itself. But Colorado...wow.

I've only put in a very little bit into it, but I'm very glad there was a demo. I wouldn't have purchased this without it, because I was thinking 'Forza', as in 'I'll put in a little time, then it'll bore me'. Nope. This thing is awesome.

I created a DSP Car Club. It's called DSP Road Show, and you can find it in the 'Car Club' in Horizon. Go join!

Further impressions:

I love this game. LOVE it. I stopped racing, and started driving, and I've been driving around, doing nothing, for the better part of two hours now. The vistas are just breathtaking, and 'doing nothing' isn't exactly doing nothing, as I've hunted for discount signs to knock over, speed traps to fly through, old cars to find in barns, I've gone to the Hoover Dam (it isn't in Colorado, but it is in THIS Colorado), and so much more.

This is Test Drive: Unlimited with a MUCH better paintjob.

Argh, gotta stop reading this thread. Not a huge Forza fan, still got F-1 under wraps and I was thinking of getting 'Most Wanted' but I was weak and got it. FS included a steel case which I could care less but for any harcore racing fan here it may mean something, so feel free to PM me if interested in the special case. Got also Warfighter in the mail, geez where do I have the time for all these games?

Drool. I'm going to buy tonight, after my son's hockey practice. Probably be online by 9:30 or 10 p.m. (ET).

This game is INCREDIBLE.

Mix Forza 4, Project Gotham Racing 2, Test Drive Unlimited and Midtown Madness, and you have Forza Horizon. There's so much to do, offline and online. So many cool cars. So many GENIUS design decisions.

I have played this for nearly five hours straight -- including mad online fun with DSPers -- and don't want to turn it off. But it's 2:43 a.m.

This game has FLOORED me. Seriously.

There are a few online modes, such as King and Infection, that are just like Tag in MM3 on the original Xbox. Cat and Mouse is just like Stayaway in MM3. Ten different maps for these modes, too, including hilarious fun on the golf course map and great places to hide on the Red Rocks map.

To each their own. I think the rock and drum-and-bass tracks are pretty good. Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys, The Hives, Phoenix and more on the rock station.

No rap or hip-hop in this game, for fans of those genres.

Enjoyed getting in a few races in with you guys last night. I never payed Midtown Madness, so Infection and King was a first for me in a driving game. Fun stuff.
Only thing was I couldn't hear anyone in the lobby or during the game.

Did you ever get anyone to look at that infection, Paul?

LOTS of fun last night. Online is just as impressive as SP. Those playground modes are a riot, and the racing is great stuff, too...

That was an EPIC DSP gaming moment. We're battling for the lead in our little rice-grinders on that offroad stage, and this souped-to-the-gills Ford SVT Raptor pickup blows past us. I think about three of us said out loud, simultaneously, "WHAT THE F*CK was that?"

Notice none of us had to say, "WHO THE F*CK was that?" That was self-explanatory. :)

Oh, and King C*ck is still infected, you f*ck.

Yeah, I was starting from the rear of the grid in that one, and had this wonderful pass planned out. The first corner was pretty tight, and since it was dirt, I knew I could take an outside-in crossover and pass almost everybody on the exit since everybody would be pushing hard and widen it so much. All this careful planning went out the window when Teal and his mammoth mobile comes flying into me, plastering me on a guard rail. But what made it so damn funny was 1) I did the same thing to him the race before, and 2) This time, everybody in front of us DID push it too wide, so they were all lined up nice and neat on the guard rail. All I saw from my windshield was a monster truck show--Teal's bigass truck just sent bumpers and sparks flying everywhere as he went all Mad Max and ripped the doors off of every car as he passed. It was absolutely comical.

And I haven't laughed that hard or had so much fun in an online racing game since PGR2 on the original XBox. I'm blown away at how fun some of the modes are, especially infected. It's so hilarious when you make somebody miss you by a hair, only to figure out you have nowhere to go at that point. Teal (again, it's always Teal hitting me!) was chasing me in a Trueno in one of the last battles of the night, and he chased me pretty much across the map. I knew he couldn't catch me if I just drove it like a racecar and kept to the roads, but to my surprise, he stayed close enough to force me to change my strategy.

Instead, I did a Top Gun and slowed down a hair to bring him in closer, then popped the E-brake and spun a 180 heading at a guard rail. I see him go flying by and plow the rail, going "WHAT THE &*#?!?!" in my earpiece. Then I realized I held the E-Brake too long and had no momentum or direction myself--he simply hit reverse and tagged me to end the game. It was one of those "oooooh yea------F*CK NOOOOOOO!" moments in the span of like 3 seconds.

Tough to add to what's already been said, but that was indeed a lot of fun last night. Terry is right, seeing Teal's big-ass red truck fly by and take everyone out was so damn funny. I would LOVE to have an animated GIF of the view from my windshield when that happened. :o The only thing better for me was the round of infected where I thought I would be clever and hide in the trees... I was cycling the view through all of my windows as the chatter went silent and the tension built when I see Paul come power sliding around my rear making me scream like a school-girl and slam on the gas... Great stuff!!!!

As for the game itself, it took me completely by surprise. I haven't been following the game at all so yesterday was my first look at the videos and the game itself as I hadn't downloaded the demo. Everything about the game is just so solid. The scenery, the sound, the interface, the sense of speed, the control, the soundtrack, and the multi-player. This one should keep my attention for a while. I can even connect with those "Loading.." screens where you see a someone standing outside of their car looking at the scenery. That's exactly what my wife and I do when we take a trip up the coast or into the mountains. Very nice touch from the developers who obviously "get it."

Absolute Blast playing online last night. Loved the playground mode stuff. Leadfoot and I had a nice tag of someone, (Teal, I think), where we boxed him in tight. Also fun tagging Terry as he's spinning around, recovering from some sweet evasive move he used to shake someone else.

The feel of the game is just really tight. They nailed what they were going for with a looser, party-style experience, I think, and you can tell when developers truly succeed at what they were trying to do.

Not crazy how little rubbing -either against other cars or the siderails- slows you down at all, because it does encourage bumper-car style racing and such, but I think it does fit the spirit of the game.

I also still, for the moment at least, hold onto my gripe about needing to drive between events in 1p mode. Dealing with it fine for now, but I can still see it being annoying.

Great experience overall, though, no doubt. Glad I dove in.

With the sheer amount of credits they throw at us, though, 10,000 Cr to quick travel to any of the little camps I've discovered is nothing. I think I made 600,000 last night alone, so 10K to quick travel won't even make me blink.

I read at OS that if you do 3 events at a place, it is then unlocked for quick travel.
