Craziest goal I've scored so far in NHL 13, by Logan Couture of the Sharks:

Anyone have any idea how to apply the bauer boost pack that was part of the amazon pre-order promotion?
I've redeemed it from the dashboard but see no sign of it being applied in the game itself. The redeem code option in the NHL 13 game menu does not accept a 25 character code such as what I was given by amazon.

You go into edit pro where you can select your equipment and from there the Bauer items from amazon will be the last item, there is a stick, gloves and skates. Have yet to see what boost they are supposed to give as there isn't any kind of numerical boost to any of your attributes, seems that they are just cosmetic items unless I am missing something.

Are you on All Star Mizz? Have you adjusted any penalty sliders?

I'm still on Pro, and wondering if i need to bump up to AS to get the AI a bit more aggressive to take more penalties......

Tuner set 1.04 SUCKS on Pro.

I saw little or nothing of what's promised in two offline games. Itemized deductions:

All Modes
Greater chance of penalty being called if a player is tripped (stumbles will now be considered trips)
NO.

Goalies less vulnerable on shots from distance on the rush on Game Styles Normal and Hardcore.
YES, and that's unrealistic. Snipers still should be able to score on slappers from the tops of the circles on a rush.

Decreased AI ability to make long stretch passes when Users were calling for a pass.
YES.

Offline
Increase penalty calls across the board
NO. Same amount as before. One or two per team in a game with eight-minute penalties.

Increase effect of CPU Opponent and CPU Teammate penalty sliders
Don't know. I played everything default to test.

Increase chance of slash being called on stick lift from a bad angle
NO. Hell, I hacked at guys from bad angles just to test this. Nothing.

Increase likelihood of interference being called
NO. Not one interference penalty called in two games.

Increase chance of CPU clearance being played over the boards
NO. Never saw it.

Increase chance of boarding, charging and hitting from behind being called
NO. Not once.

Increase time CPU will finish checks after puck is released
YES. And this makes the difference in AI awareness between CPU defenders in their slot and CPU-controlled defenders in human team's slot even more unbalanced. That's the biggest problem in NHL 13 offline. The AI defenders have such active sticks and good positioning in their slot and around their net. My CPU-controlled defensemen and backchecking forwards stand around like zombies, with wet noodles as sticks.

I saw no broken sticks in two games, another detractor of realism compared to the other tuner sets.

Tuner set 1.01 still is the best. The most balanced, organic and similar to the brilliance of the demo.

Why the f*ck doesn't EA leave well enough alone? Why must it respond to every minority yelp from the community? F*ck me.

Maybe the third time is a charm. I'm a glutton for punishment, but I played a third game with tuner set 1.04, Pro, eight-minute periods, everything default.

Much better results. I got a slash for aggressive stick lifting, and I saw an interference and a roughing call among the three or four penalties called on the CPU. Hell, I actually had a 5-on-3 power play!

The CPU is more aggressive on offense and defense with this set. So it's more essential than ever to dump and chase and cycle the puck in the offensive zone to create chances and keep the CPU shot totals down. You must try to play a possession game on offense.

Further playtesting has convinced me tuner set 1.04 is a dud. Yeah, there are maybe one or two more penalties per game. But the trade-off is uber-aggressive offensive forechecking and laser-like puck anticipation by the CPU on the forecheck and incredibly active sticks by the CPU in their zone.

I'll stick to tuner set 1.01 or 1.03. Those are the best overall sets. Most balanced, most fun.

Yes, the CPU is too passive on Pro. Next game was outshot 34-21 and lost 3-2 to Dallas. 5 more penalties.

Penalties always all the way up.

EA pulled tuner set 1.04 for some reason. I shed no tears. It wasn't a significant improvement, at least in offline games.

It's back up....... not sure what they changed in it.

I've played two games with the new one, all penalty sliders maxed. Getting good penalties, but losing both games. Want to play some more before I say whether it's my hangover affecting my play, or if the tuner has made the AI on Pro harder........

The AI on Pro is kicking my butt with 1.04, too. Getting great penalty results, too. With the Blues, I got rocked 6-2 by Dallas last night. I am more competitive in most of my games, though.

I'm using default Pro sliders, but with all three penalty sliders maxed, and 10 minute periods. I'm getting around 60 shots total and 7-9 penalties called each game.

Before giving up on 1.04, I'd go back to default sliders, as that is what each tuner is always going to be based on by the devs. They can't account for al the changes people make. I will probably make some adjustments going forward, but I wil play a lot more games first.

Old or new, tuner set 1.04 sucks on Pro defaults.

I'm not seeing many penalties on the CPU, and the CPU forechecking and slot defense are way more aggressive than the defense in those zones mustered by your CPU-controlled teammates. So the only way you can compensate is to go head-hunting for big hits, which is probably what EA and its target market want.

Too bad EA's developers don't respect solid, positional hockey.

I'm getting a lot of penalties...both teams on 1.03. I have every penalty option maxed out. Last game I played as Medicine Hat I was 1-5 on the PP and my opponent Saskatoon was 0-4. These are 5 minute periods, All Star skill level. I only play with junior teams though, wouldn't think that makes a difference but who knows.
