Surprisingly one of the most bitched about missing features. I don't buy it really was but that's the claim.

Oh, it was. Check out the Amazon reviews. Madden has a two-star rating thanks to a TON of people bitching about fantasy draft.

I've tried playing CCM-player for the last time. The stats take all authenticity out of it. As John Elway with a fantasy draft, I was drafted by the Colts and the defense isn't that bad. But I'm 30 in offense and 1 in defense all because I have the clock set to 7 minute quarters. Bump that up and you get the CPU going screwing with rushing. R. Bush put 39 carries for 104 yards. It would have been okay if they used their back up as the stats would be perfect.

Plus if you can't control the players they should do football things like run out-of-bounds to stop the clock. Or stay in bounds etc. Last night, Dez Bryant caught a miracle pass from me and ran down the sideline trying to get a TD bu instead just cost us the game. I had no timeouts left and we needed just FG. He was tackled with 5 seconds when he could have ran OB for us to set-up a FG.

It's amazing how this has never been in a Madden. It's just little football things but for all the features Madden puts in, it never seems to have the time to refine the small things that make football football.

Just picked it up today. Glad I did. It's fun stuff. Still have NCAA, and we'll see if they can co-exist or not.

Okay, maybe I'm missing something, and I certainly hope that I am. If I'm not, this is the single most idiotic omission from video game football since its' inception. Is there no way to simply play through a season with a TEAM, rather that having to be confined to one player on one team a la Career mode? Franchise? Something that allows me to play normal football?

If so, I can't find it anywhere. I haven't played Madden in a few years, granted, but when did it begin being more difficult to simply play a season than all this other stuff that really should be the options rather than the "go-to" mode? The only way I see to play an actual, traditional game of football is in 'play now'?

Am I seeing that right?

Play a Connected Career as a Coach, and you're in control of all aspects of a team for a career, on and off the field. It's the closest thing to the traditional Season mode.

Really? Geez. So let's make sure you have to have ESP in order to play Franchise? How's about just having the old "FRANCHISE" selection right up front? Man, alive...EA...

Thanks, Paul.

Removing Season modes must be the latest fall rage in gaming. F1 2012, released last week, lacks the ability from F1 2011 to take any driver on the Formula One grid and race for an entire season with him. Instead, you need to start a career as yourself with a certain team.

But oddly -- and thankfully -- EA kept the Season mode in NHL 13.

Madden hasn't had season mode since ps2 days. but for a casual gamer, i can see how the whole CCM thing is confusing. I dont know if I should keep it or not. I love the gameplay, but all the ccm stuff is annoying. I would like if they told us when the next MEGA FIX patch will be coming out. I doubt they will fix much in the game since there is so much broken. But how about at least start soon.

Best buy is giving 40 bucks back for Madden trade in. It's tempting, but I'll keep it and hope the patch fixes a lot of things. I would be happy if they just added the absent late half late game CPU AI. I am getting really tired of CPU teams running out the clock and losing the game instead of calling timeouts and trying to score.

Every time I boot the game up I get a message with something to the effect of; "Looking for traditional franchise mode?"

I'd actually like how to disable that as I don't need them to direct me to it and would not like to be asked every time I turn the game on.

If you set all the contract and scouting stuff to the CPU, you can pretty much play a "season" mode in CCM. The only difference this year is you can only control one team.

That's perhaps the biggest patch I've ever seen. Pretty much is an admittance that they were no where near ready at release. Very impressive if all works as stated. Might consider picking up.

They are never ready. At least they are attempting to clean up the s*** they took on us.

P.S> So far I really am enjoying the game despite their laziness.

I just could not get past the comical animations caused by the new physics engine. Seeing players bounce off each other, collisions looking more like pinball than football, kills the immersion factor for me.

Good thing you never played Backbreaker it was 10 times worse than Maddens animation gafs. They have also tuned it a lo since release.

Does this mean late game cpu AI? I hope so.

So you think that after having twenty years of shitty late game AI it is magically gonna be fixed THIS year? Ain't happening. It's a staple of the series and that's just gonna be the way it is forever it appears.

Considering picking this game up with the TRU deal going on. My question is do you guys think this game is decent enough for a single player game? Won't be doing any online leagues. Not sure how the patch will effect AI game logic and team tendencies but am optimistic.

I still have the game and waiting on the patch but recently I have no urge to play it. Just too many things are broken. Also, with FIFA and other games, I've been playing those and Madden's taken a back seat.

Patch looks promising but it looks like it's not fixing fundamental issues like CPU AI (maybe it will, wait and see). I really enjoyed my season I played but I dont think I'd want to go thru CCM again. If you like to PLAY NOW pickup games with friends family, then it's good. But single player CCM, it's really frustrating.

Thanks for your response. I ended up renting it yesterday from Blockbuster on my game pass and something about it still does not feel complete. I think at this time, I'll roll with NBA 2K13 and NHL 13.

Ridiculous that it took this long to get essential fixes in like this:

Fixed an issue where someone who attempted to bull rush with the R stick once the ball was snapped activated run commit.

Also, the fact that CCM games didn't play the same as Play Now games is baffling.

My understanding from my friend and this isn't official.

The IE engine, CCM and Madden code bases were 3 separate bases. The goal was to bring in CCM this year as it had been in development since the end of 10 's cycle. IE got "done" quicker than expected and so they worked the final few months of tying it all together.

They knew that things didn't work they just couldn't fix them for launch. So they waited to accumulate things they didn't know about and you get super patch. I'm told this code is pretty tight, i.e. it gets the job done.

I still think it's a shitty way to do business but it's the way the sports game cycle works now. I actually had a discussion with a younger friend because he was saying companies would never support a 2 year cycle. I told him about the old days when we got basically a new roster with some tweak the next year for a reduced price. He didn't believe me that that model ever existed. LOL
