Apparently the new version is so realistic that if you manage Liverpool come 6pm on deadline day your computer automatically shuts off and goes home.

I like the idea about Classic Mode. I no longer have the desire to micromanage a team. Classic Mode will help me get on with building a team and doing most of the stuff behind the scene. I'm hoping for either a Steam or Amazon sale. :)

Picked it up on GMG for $29.99 downloaded and installed the beta and with FMC, a super rookie like me can finally make sense of this game. :)

I'm off playing on the pitch within 30 minutes and it's so well laid out for someone like me, who doesn't understand any of the micro-managing stuff in the all of the previous versions, kudos to the FM team!!!

What a beautiful interface!

most of the long time players are bitching about the interface, just shows that it is all in the eye of the beholder!

Any changes to the training? I skipped last years in part because I found the training model a couple years ago lagging way behind the rest of the game, which was very frustrating.

I have the beta but haven't gotten into it. Really haven't heard good or bad things about it. If you don't care about it, the classic mode I believe omits it.

Thanks, Squid. It looks like it's simplified but still has some issues. Looks different enough at least that it's probably worth a run out this year. Even in the versions that I played extensively, I still found that training was the weakest part of the game. Nothing seemed to help, customizing myself, downloading schedules etc. all seemed to sort of be almost useless. Hopefully they're on to something with the updates.

Anyone buy this?

I downloaded the demo a couple of days ago and really enjoyed the new interface and Classic mode. Not sure if I'll buy it yet but I do like what I say.

I've given it a bit of my time, but haven't really had the chance to dive in. I've stayed away for a couple years so some of the improvements may be from the last few generations, but I'm really pleased with some of the streamlining and interface improvements. Lots of very logical changes that make the game much more intuitive.

I buy it every year and play it way too much. Currently, I'm managing KooTeePee in Finland's second division. Why you might ask? They have an American playing up front.

It just dropped to $20. I'm going to holdout for the $5 deal Amazon had last year.

I think Football Manager is the greatest (and most dangerous) game ever made - I can't get the game because I just get so addicted it's scary.

Other FM addicts may be interested in Football Manager Stole My Life - http://www.amazon.com/Football-Manager- ... 0956497179

It's not a particularly well written book but I did really enjoy various stories of FM addiction, several interviews with the creators and also some interviews with the real-life counterparts of old FM/CM legends like Tonton Zola Moukoko, Mike Duff, Willie Howie and so on.

A lot of the book focuses around CM 3 to around mid 2000s which is about when I got addicted (I had to get my sister to throw away my CD of 99/00 otherwise I would have failed undergrad). If you have memories of CM/FM from around that time period I think you'll enjoy the book.

I'll admit that I play an insane amount myself. I usually stop playing in September and wait until the next version comes out to give myself a "break"
