A second demo? Forget the novelty of 10-minute halves: When is the last time a game featured two demos before release?

Ah, silly me! That was pre-360 for me.

I know Xbox 360 gaming didn't start for the rest of the world when I bought mine last November. Seriously. :)

Demo #2 is soooooo goooood!!!!

The first thing that stands out is how each of the teams play like their real life counterparts. I started as Barca and they play like Barca, down to the individual players. I wish all games did this.

Gameplay wise this demo is much faster paced than demo 1. I preferred demo 1 pace but maybe it's because of the teams I'm using in demo 2.

All updated kits are in the demo, new Barca away's look fantastic.

No RVP for Man U.

Gonna do this more. BTW it's 5 min halves, so 10 min full. Not 10 min halves.

My early impressions of Demo #2:

COOL:

-- Very noticeable differences in buildup by AI teams. Strategies differ by teams, and teams often will use different strategies within one game. I've seen AI teams go wide and up the middle, long ball and tiki-taka.

-- Much tougher to work the ball through the CPU midfield.

-- Blocking tackle (A button) isn't as effective and results in more fouls.

-- Otherworldly players like Messi and Ronaldo can dance realistically through defenders in one-on-one situations, but CPU AI will gang up on them and dispossess them.

-- Ball control remains VASTLY improved without feeling arcadish.

-- AI teammates to make really smart runs off the ball and also defend with smarts.

-- Great crowd noise and atmosphere.

-- Game continues to look and feel like real footy.

NOT SO COOL:

-- Shooting seems more sensitive. Not as bad as recent PES/WE games, but a bit more touchy than first demo.

-- CPU doesn't commit as many fouls as in first demo. I hope developers didn't overreact to b*tching from the community, as it was SO refreshing to see a fair number of CPU fouls in the first demo.

-- Occasional framerate stutters remain.

PES 2013 will be a release-week purchase for me unless FIFA 13 blows me away. Demo #2 did nothing to heighten my expectations, but it didn't diminish them, either.

I really like demo 2. The AI is so damn fun to play against. It takes advantage of mistakes on defense like I've never seen in a soccer video game. My CPU teammates make runs that make sense and are not just making runs for the sake of making a run. The developers have done a tremendous job in addressing the yoyo effect of the ball when dribbling. The whole player ID thing is for real. The players and teams feel very different, more so than ever. And the gameplay itself is fluid and varied.

Does anyone know if the PC version will be just like the consoles? If so i'm going to preorder this thru Amazon.

I know with EA PC and Vita ports they lag 1 year behind in development.

Typically the PC version is better once the community mods arrive.

The PC versions are the same engine as the console ones (unlike FIFA which, like you said before, is usually a year behind- though I think FIFA 12 on the PC was the same).

Had more time for demo 2 and fortunately things haven't change that much from the first fine experience. The fact that they threw a few more teams is a nice bonus. This game plays very realistic footy. Teams play their own style of tactics and the animations on first touches is sooo nice to see.

Perhaps the visuals looked a bit too outdated for me in the second demo while I prefer the crowd to be more active. Presentation and better atmosphere can still be improved.

The fighting for ball control in midfield is really nice to see and your teammates do make nice runs as you some of you have already pointed it out. I thought the CPU was also in better position to block my shots.

Another thing I noticed still intact is the slow down, not to the point where it ruins the overall gameplay, but it's obvious.

Regardless, it plays verywell and looks like I'll have two footie games again this season.

I went ahead and preordered the 360 version. It comes with $10 credit from Amazon.

For some reason Amazon says this game ships on 12/31/12. I'm assuming that's a mistake and I am going to go ahead and order. I'm enjoying the demo...

I'm gonna have to play the PES and Fifa demos back to back this evening and see which I favor. Reading a lot of good things about PES with regards to this version. More often, I'll be playing offline against the CPU so maybe PES is the way to go.

Unlike other sports games we actually have a choice with soccer. My very early impressions with Fifa last night were that not a lot has changed. The game looked, smelled and tasted a lot like 12. That being said, I'm sure more time is required for me to notice the changes under the hood in regards to first touch and AI.

PES on the other hand immediately hooked me with the demos. It's simply more fun and exciting than Fifa.
I'm sure I'll end up with both at some point but I might just go with PES out of the gate this year and pray the online experience is as smooth as last year. I still prefer to play footy games head to head on Live.

Yup, 100% agree. Fifa was just like 12 from the short time I played with it, whereas I loved every minute of PES. Placed my order this morning via Amazon for PES on the 360.

I'm getting both this year. If it wasn't for the $29.99 deal Microsoft has for FIFA 13 I would have just gotten PES this year.

PES 2013 for me this year, all the way. It has made HUGE improvements in AI. Feels like real soccer.

FIFA 13 feels like hockey on grass. AI consists of attack, attack, attack, with no midfield buildup.

PES 2013 feels and plays like real soccer. FIFA 13 feels and plays like video game soccer. 'Nuff said.

It's at the Microsoft Store. They have FIFA 13, NBA 2K13 and several other games. You pay for the game, full price and Microsoft gives you 1600 XBL Points and $10 credit towards another purchase. It also comes with free shipping.
