Although they would prioritize a revenue product, it may be that they've diverted some resources towards next-gen development, since Madden 14 is likely to be released on PS4/Xbox 720.

In previous transitions to next-generation, they were developing PC versions with higher resolution and graphics targets so that might have made transitions easier. But now, they no longer have a PC version.

Ironically, the next gen consoles will be based on off-the-shelf PC components, if the rumors are to be believed.

The Infinity Engine is neat, but I got the feeling from the demo that it was not really ready for prime time. My guess is that when it launches on the next gen consoles, it will be smoother, look a little better, and fix a lot of weird animations it produces.

I like this demo the more I play it. It's more refined than I thought, especially when playing it back-to-back with NCAA 13.

Yep, that's what I ran into. Completely indifferent the first couple of times, and then got more and more into it each successive play session.

Eagerly anticipating the ST release this evening.

Yeah I got worked by Seattle last night in the demo. It wasn't that Madden cheap, cheating feeling worked with. Lynch just ran over me and they just out play called me. That doesn't happen a lot.

One thing that concerns me is the OL pancakes, I see way to many animations of the DL going straight to the ground. Of course this could be the way they combated the power move on DT. Which means my whole strategy to playing is gone

This version of Madden seems better, but there's still something very generic about playing the computer. The AI doesn't play to team strengths the way that it should. It often makes terrible play calls on both sides of the ball. I enjoy the mechanics of playing the game, especially running the ball, but the chess match aspect is just boring, and that's my favorite part of football.

So I really don't know. Despite being a longtime Madden player, there is something about the engine that is finally bugging me.

This was the realization that I reached a couple years ago after decades of being a Madden fan. It's just never going to be the definitive NFL experience I want it to be, especially when you see what can be done with the genuine AAA sports titles.

Seeing "Madden NFL 13 trots out the same basic experience one more time, creating an enjoyable game without any major improvements" was shocking. Even playing the demo, I could see a lot of changes that weren't the "same basic game".

Gamespot also gave NCAA 13 a 6.5, which is laughable. So consider the source.
