I ordered, NCAA, Madden and NHL via Amazon.

Re: Madden NFL 13
Class action settlement results in a paltry sum available to those who purchased Madden.
But more importantly, under the proposed settlement, Madden would keep the exclusive license for the NFL but not for the NCAA or Arena Football League:

Major win for EA. Madden is their top selling sports game in the US. I think FIFA sells more globally.
Re: Madden NFL 13
Ya, I think we lost as consumers not allowing other interpretations of football. I still wish Backbreaker or 2k's game had succeeded as I think think a generic game done well could compete. Madden does exactly what the NFL wants in terms of brand awareness so I think even though Madden is more of the same it blends perfectly into the image the NFL wishes of itself.Rodster wrote:Major win for EA. But with that said, connected careers may be exactly what Madden needs. If each game feels different that will help playing more than a season.
I curious about CC. I'm not sold on their improved physics engine. NHL engine was oversold and I don't think personally it had the impact they touted. From the limited videos, I haven't seen anything eye-opening like when we saw BB. But still Madden and FIFA are games I'm looking forward to from EA this season.

Exactly! We have no choice anymore. I sure do miss the late 90's. That seemed like the heyday of sports gaming. For football you had EA's NCAA, plus Sony Gamebreaker. Then there was Madden, Gameday, Quarterback Club for NFL games. All different experiences and just great options for the consumer.JRod wrote: Ya, I think we lost as consumers not allowing other interpretations of football.

Regardless of if it's EA you're never going to get that again. The NFL doesn't want multiple license holders.icvu42 wrote: Exactly! We have no choice anymore. I sure do miss the late 90's. Re: Madden NFL 13
Does anyone know when the demo for Madden 13 will be available on XBL?

Re: Madden NFL 13
I don't get the whole Ultimate Madden thing they keep showing videos of. Is this a gimmick thing or something you have to do in franchise?
Re: Madden NFL 13
Madden Ultimate Team? It's been around for years. Think of it as collecting cards. But those cards are players, and when you get the card, you can use them on your team. They each have limited number of games you can play with them, but there are other cards where you can add games to their 'contract', etc. So it's basically a mixture of fantasy football and collecting NFL cards...except you play games with them (either online or off).
It's kind of fun, but it's a completely separate mode. Not one that you have to deal with in franchise or something.

gotcha, I don't think I've played a Madden since maybe '05ish.

The demo will feature the 49ers vs Giants and Seahawks vs Redskins.

Re: Madden NFL 13
I cancelled my preorder.. I just don't have a good feeling about Madden and honestly, I've barely played any version since many years ago.
Will wait for the impressions I read on here before spending $60. There are too many other games on the way.

With NHL 13 around the corner, I have a feeling I won't play it much, unless DSPers have high praise for it. NCAA will get my football gaming time as it has for the last few years. I also have so many games to finish and Darksiders 2 and Borderlands 2 are coming out soon - as well as many more like Far Cry 3.
I'm hoping Madden is a hit, I really am. Front Office Football isn't seeing another version for a long time according to Jim, so I need my football fix. If Madden is good, I would be more than happy to trade in NCAA on it since I've played that series for several seasons now and could use some NFL action.
I believe I also get $15 off my next purchase with the purchase of NHL 13, so I shall see what reviews and the Madden folks are saying after release.
I would actually be happy to play with the Rams, should make it quite a challenge and building that team would be fun.
Re: Madden NFL 13
Just ribbing you. I won't be buying Madden early on for the same reason. NHL 13 is a day one buy.
And I would love for Madden to be great. But other than Madden 11, which I stil played for a short time, Madden has not been worth more than $20 since the mid 90's.
But I am craving to play with the Chiefs this year. It's been awhile since there much reason to be excited to play with them. I still expect the Rams to be much improved under Fisher, but it looks like he still has a lot of work to do.

The Rams are a work in progress, I think they will definitely be much improved this year but I do know it's a long term plan. Next week should be a good game!Aristo wrote:Just ribbing you. I won't be buying Madden early on for the same reason. NHL 13 is a day one buy.

I pre-ordered from TRU for $45. I'm looking forward to running the new CC Online Franchise with some friends.

Re: Madden NFL 13
Early impressions of course sound positive. I watched a 9 minute gameplay demo video and presentation is much improved as well as the crowd. Gameplay looks very solid too. Can't wait to try the demo out this evening. Much more excited about this than my two week rental of NCAA which pretty much has bored me to tears.
Re: Madden NFL 13
Played a couple of games this morning. The gameplay seemed nice but what the hell happened to the graphics? The lighting washes out all the colors and the field looks like garbage during actual gameplay.
Re: Madden NFL 13
For a second, I thought that he Redskins' helmet was made out of rubber mud. Besides the odd visuals where the lighting in the field may feel too dark, you can really feel the new phyics especially with the tackles. It's a hit and miss. And since it's the first try with the new physics, much like Fifa you will see some funny moments as I encountered during a pileup after a gang tackle, no biggie.
Commentating was good I thought, yes even with Jim Nantz on board, and the Redskins crowd was alive trying to cheer for their team as they were down by 14 points with my Hawks.
Running the ball with Marshall Lynch was a blast, maybe because I was playing on Pro, but he was a beast. After a couple of games, I had a fun experience with the demo. The only thing missing in my Hawks' wins was T.O.
Will bump it up on AP tonight, one more thing the game speed seemed a bit too quick for me.

Re: Madden NFL 13
HipE, I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one seeing this... I spent almost half of my play time during my one game trying adjust my set to make the graphics look "normal". The whole look is like a faded out comic book. The gameplay did feel pretty good, but if the look of my first game with the Redskins and Seahawks is typical of the "look" of this year's game, I'll definitely stick with NCAA 13, which I won't start playing until September.HipE wrote:Played a couple of games this morning.
