PES 2013
This may be old news but I just read that Seabass has stepped away from PES2013. The new lead designer is Kei Masuda. Seabass is working on a "secret project."... I'm glad there's been a change at the top.

Re: PES 2013
For the longest time, I skipped this year's version. Shooting, in the next-gen console era never felt right for me, at times heavy others the ball would just float like a beach ball. So I am curious as to how the new 'Full Manual Shooting' will be like in 13. The pace is supposed to be slower too which fits my game just fine.

Re: PES 2013
Yeh 10's shooting is mind boggling in this years game, dont see how they thought it would be acceptable really only to maybe keep the scoring lower.
It does that at the expense of taking control away from you , i never really know where my shot is going sometimes even the opposite way to what im shooting at. It might be me not knowing the ins and outs of their shooting mechanic but whatever it is its not a natural response to the action.
I hope they do implement the full manual like Fifa 11(was better than 12) and take the rails away from the players at times it truly will open up their game.
If Fifa doesnt tweak their defending this year ill be looking for Pes to do a job.

I liked most of what i saw in pes12. The floaty shooting was a deal killer for me. I wish they would have kept the shooting from the 2011 version.

1st demo to be released this week on the 25th. I may just buy it because Seabass wasn't calling the shots.

Re: PES 2013
PES 13 Demo is excellent. And this is a PES demo, which are usually crap! 4 national teams, 5 min halfs. Like the change of pace from Fifa.
Re: PES 2013
will have to look into this.
Re: PES 2013
Just had time for a game last night. I always stated that the players' visage in PES was more accurate than Fifa and if you look at the players during the National Anthems it is pretty picture perfect. Full manual passing is the way to go. I skipped last year's version so I was curious how the shooting felt and I must say that I did not feel the floating stuff that has plagued this franchise for the past few versions. Neuer had two brilliant saves on Ronaldo that rebounded hard to the area while I was unable to take advantage to score.
The names are a bit too busy in the field, especially when they have both 1st and last names included. Overall, the AI was smart enough to make proper crosses and made good runs. Wished I had more time to play it as I have to head out of town for a few days. Just a game, but it felt solid, but still not as fluid as EA's soccer game IMO.

Re: PES 2013
I always turn the names off i agree its way too busy with them on. Only played a couple of games but im liking it so far , seems improved in the right places , passing is better for sure.
After playing for a few hours its really good overall.
The Good.
Player ID is incredible they did an outstanding job on certain players Ronaldhino looks brilliant acts and plays just like the real man it was a pleasure getting nutmeged by him and Ballotelli.
Shooting is much better, better weight to it and makes more sense. Manual shooting seems to be just like Fifa's i may have to give that more time for sure really felt good.
Passing is better but still not quite there when no assist is selected its not full manual until you hit LT/ L2 then it truly is full manual and has a handy little arrow assist if you want it and feels really good .
Some great midfield battles going on very organic playing , i love it when the cpu defense reads a pass presses you and either fouls or forces you to play it backwards, the ai seems more alive this year and almost lifelike when you see Ronaldhino doing a no look pass
Keepers are much better and pull of great saves which is needed with the new improved shooting.
The Bad.
The cpu still does that crazy lofted floating ball punted upfield to no one
Having to use L2 to manual pass sucks.
Still getting crazy stutter on xbox at times.
So overall it looks real promising for me the good far out weigh the bad (so far
) Playing Flamengo v Santos is a joy it just seems a better game at that level rather than International.

Re: PES 2013
Wow I'm rusty.
The old contain button doesn't work as well.
I think the CPU is able to dribble and get past defenders with too much PES/WE magic. I mean cheating.
In my few games on Pro, the CPU scored on too many "crackers" from around the box. Seemed shots were more on goal than in the past. More FIFA-like.

Re: PES 2013
PSN finally put this one up in America this week. I'm really enjoying the flow of the matches. The passing is implemented well and the shooting is a lot of fun compared to past PES games. I've only played around 6 matches so I do not have a great overview of the demo yet, but so far the goalies are improved and the AI makes better runs than in the past couple PES titles. I'm liking the defending since it is harder to just run up to the dribbler and steal the ball or jockey the player off the ball. I look forward to getting some more time in with the demo.
Re: PES 2013
I've tried to like FIFA, but I can never get into it for one reason or another.
On to the PES 2013 demo.. I'm really floored at how much fun this demo is. If I was assured the slowdowns are fixed, I would preorder it right now. I'm assuming with a release date of 12/31, they will optimize the game so the slowdowns are gone, but it really takes away from the great gameplay.
There is much for me to like though, the game just feels more like soccer to me than FIFA does. The CPU is very competent and the controls are excellent as well as I can tell who's on the field at any given time.
Very surprised at how much I like it and I can't wait to play some more tonight.

Re: PES 2013
If you have a decent PC and a 360 pad for it, then try the PC demo. You can unlock the general settings and play proper length matches by getting the patch from gamefront.

Re: PES 2013
The release date is Sept. 25, according to Gamestop.MizzouRah wrote:I'm assuming with a release date of 12/31, they will optimize the game so the slowdowns are gone, but it really takes away from the great gameplay.
I'm VERY much enjoying this demo. Great off-the-ball AI for both the human and CPU teams, which burnishes the already strong single-player credentials of this game. Not surprising, though, since PES 2012 was a far superior single-player game than FIFA 12.
PES 2013 feels much more like soccer than FIFA 12. The FIFA 13 demo will need to blow me on my back; otherwise, I'm buying PES 2013.

Re: PES 2013
I'll give this demo a try. I finally purchased PES 2012 on the cheap from Amazon and the AI is somewhat lacking. Too much wing play is allowed, hell I can even take a L or R back and sprint down the sideline for a cross pass in front of the goal.
I remember in the PS2 glory days that sort of cheese was shut down by the AI. Good thing I still have WE7 on the PS2 for a proper footy fix.

Re: PES 2013
I haven't noticed any, but then again I really haven't been looking for it, so I cannot answer that for certain. I will play some today and look for it.FifaInspected wrote:Is there any slowdown in the PS3 demo?toonarmy wrote:PSN finally put this one up in America this week. Yeah, there is no real release date yet.. I did see a screenshot where it said October 2012, so who knows at this point.pk500 wrote:The release date is Sept. 25, according to Gamestop.MizzouRah wrote:I'm assuming with a release date of 12/31, they will optimize the game so the slowdowns are gone, but it really takes away from the great gameplay.

The game is just so believable and balanced. Feels more like soccer and less gimmicky than the FIFA series if that makes sense? (just like PK said)
Re: PES 2013
PES is fun but after skipping the last two or three versions, it's tough for me mostly because the controls have changed and I'm still stuck on WE9.
You can't run down defenders as people have mentioned. I think there are times where the CPU is able to turn into robo-dribblers. And the amount of bicycle kicks is way too high for me but it's much more fun to play than any of the last three FIFAs. In my first game scored a 35 yard goal with Rooney. No idea what I was doing but it was a beauty.

Re: PES 2013
It's great seeing the ball realistically bounce all over the place too. Had a great goal where I headed it, went off another player, then to another player's foot where he chipped it and then before it bounced, I score on a wicked shot into the corner of the net.
I haven't seen one bicycle kick yet.

Well maybe I suck and protecting from crosses into the box but I see at least one about every other demo game.MizzouRah wrote:It's great seeing the ball realistically bounce all over the place too. I haven't seen a bicycle kick yet either, ive seen loads of the Ibrahimovic side foot toe poke volley though too many probably same sort of thing JRod is seeing with the over head kicks. Seems player id leaks to other star players also.
Demo continues to impress.
