It's good. It's worth the price for sure...not really anything else to say. Can only give hardware impressions for so long and then the rest is just random apps and games you play on it. It's perfect for playing Nintendo and genesis emulators which is what I'm using it for now really. That and reading. Perfect for those things. If its your only tablet it's probably too small. It's okay for web browsing but it's a bit too small. It can work in a pinch, but so can your cell phone.

What NES emulator are you using?

My sister ordered a Nexus 7 for me, and I got it on Tuesday. I am having a blast with it. It is my first tablet, was using my brother-in-law's Ipad before that. Definitely could see myself going for a bigger tablet when I can swing it.

It's interesting. I'm not sure which size I prefer overall. I think my iPad 3 would probably stick if only because most of its use is sitting on my couch. If I was to travel more and commute then i can imagine that the nexus 7 would be ideal but then again there isn't a data connection built in so I'd have to tether to my phone. So yeah there is pretty much no way I could decide between the two sizes right now. Both works for me.

Now I just have to figure out how to swap my MacBook air 11 for a 13 or wait until the rumored 13 inch pro w a retina when they come out. The 11 just is too small for a laptop. Bad purchase by me. I guess if I was a traveller it would be great but I'm not. So yeah. My bad.

I finally rooted my Kindle Fire and can now load apps from Google play.

Dungeon Raid is really a fun game.

The only thing that sucks now, is google play says it has updates for my apps that I purchased on Amazon, but they never update obviously because I didn't purchase them from google play. It's too bad, GP gets their apps updated way before Amazon does.

Ahhh yes. The whole reason I refuse to use amazon and their android apps on any of my devices. Even though I miss the free app of the day I don't care. Their implementation is terrible. It's really amazons only product or service I am not a fan of.

Yeah, I'll buy the rest of my apps from GP from here on out.

For those of you with new Nexus 7's...you must download the new Apex launcher. It's fantastic, with a bunch of improvements over stock ICS/JB.

As I am a total newbie to android, fill me in on what the Apex launcher does. I have seen Apex and I believe Nova launcher, but I have avoided as I don't know squat. Could you please let me know for example what makes it better than the sock JB that comes with the Nexus 7?

Do any retailers actually have the Nexus 7 in stock?

It replaces the stock launcher on the device. There is more ability to customize when you use a different launcher. Screen transitions, gestures to launch apps, different icons, folder options, etc are all changeable. So it really doesn't change a lot but gives you more things you can tweak.

The 8gbs are around. Saw them at staples yesterday and GameStop last week. The 16s are hard to come by outside of the google play store.

I was just on the google play site and didn't see an update for JB. Could you point me in the right direction?

System updates are done via "OTA". Go to settings--> About--> System Update

I don't understand the question. Apex works in JB.

I saw on another board someone mentioned a beta for JB that was released on 8/2.

There is a beta version of apex that is supposedly built on JB code but it is difficulty to tell the difference. You download the original apex from the market and then in its settings allow it to download beta software instead of stable releases.

I FINALLY understand the reason behind Android wallpaper crop lol and it's a stupid idea. I like it much better on the iPad where it scales the picture nicely. Google should dump the panning wallpaper idea so as to get rid of the need to crop the wallpaper.

I have it and the wallpapers still look like crap albeit better than doing the crop job within Android. Either i'm doing something wrong or it doesn't truly compensate for the panning effect. And I even went so far as to use 1280x800 rez wallpaper.

The lock screen wallpaper looks great but that's because its a static screen.

So use a launcher like Apex and turn off wallpaper scrolling. Problem solved.

I turned off scrolling from within Wallpaper Wizardii and while the desktop image looked better it still was zoomed in a little too much for my liking. The other effect I got was a black vertical bar when I scrolled to the last screen either left or right on my galaxy tab.
