Recommendation for a co-op or split-screen game (360)

Post by RobVarak »

So I'm getting ready to pack up the 360 for vacation in a couple weeks. Traditionally, this is the one week per year I actually play the Wii, but I've totally tired of it.

As most of you know, my general misanthropy means that I seldom play local multi-player. Pretty much all XBL. Since I'll have access to a living person in the same room for a week, I'm looking for ideas about good games that I may have overlooked because of my ummm...solo habits.

I have NCAA 13 ready to go, which should be a solid starting place, I'd expect. Anything else?

I'm can't speak from much practical experience, but maybe some XBL games...Castle Crashers, NBA Jam, the Contra one, Crimson Alliance, MLB Bobbleheads.

Rayman Origins is supposed to have good MP and is pretty cheap now.

Good luck. I think you're pretty much limited to the sports games and XBL games as Naples mentioned. One bonus of local MP in sports games is you can play co-op. Rock Band games, of course, are bult for local co-op. Somewhere on the interwebs I'm sure I've seen lists of co-op and local MP games for the 360 but I can't think of the site.

Split screen does show up in some of the racing games, but that's not your thing. Even system link seems to be pretty much ancient history at this stage as XBL has taken over.

I'm using this as an excuse to search XBLA games I definitely should've played. I wish they had steam-like sales for XBLA.

Either way, Joe Danger splitscreen looks like it would be fun. Depends what you're looking for I guess.

The co-op campaign in Portal 2 is a ton of fun. Played through it split screen with my son and had a blast.

Yeah, I didn't play it for the longest time figuring it was just a back of the box feature throw in. What makes it so much fun is that it truly requires teamwork, with some really diabolical chambers. Plus there is free DLC for it.

That would be quite excellent. I think I actually have that laying around somewhere too. Never got too enthralled with it single player, but coop would be good.

Reporting back for the sake of completeness.

Ended up spending the entire week with Borderlands. Totally freaking loved it! I found it to be sterile and dull as a single-player experience, but split screen was a riot. So many laughs.

Thanks again for the recommendations.
