Medal of Honor: Warfighter
I am in wait-and-see mode on this one. It will be interesting to see what they do to change it after Medal of Honor got such mediocre reviews.

I was with the one or two other people here (and possible in the world) that LOVED the multiplayer in this game. I actually think I might try and find a cheap copy and see if anyone is still playing this online. The one mode (forget the name) where you push forward with objectives was SO addicting. Great maps design and graphics.

The MP was pretty good. The thing that hurt this game is the lack of weapons/customization and the lack of maps.
I never get into SP portion but I did with this one and LOVED IT!!! I am really looking forward to see what Danger Close is going to do with the MP. The game also comes out on my birthday so looks like I might be taking the day off!!
Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Yeah I enjoyed the MP too, obviously not as deep as the other shooters out there but I've been a fan of MoH since the PS1 days. Will pre-order it.
Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
See, at first I was bummed about the lack of those things as well, but then I realized that it actually benefitted my play style. Too many weapons and ranks just put me at a disadvantage when I don't play as much as the kiddos. And the lack of maps felt like a big bummer at first but then I got to know the handful that were there REALLY well, something I am not able to do when there are too many to choose from. I'm not saying that the new game should only have 3 maps, but I did find it to eventually be a good thing for my limited play time.orthostud23 wrote: The MP was pretty good. Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
MP on MOH was by far my favorite of all the current generation of shooters...just a blast to play. BF3 is a close second tho.
Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
I was one of those one or two other people...LOVED the first game. LOVED it. SP, MP, all of it. The MP was absolutely fantastic, and I hope that they keep the core intact (expanding upon it, of course). The mode you're talking about was essentially BF's Rush, but it was done in such a way so as to 'feel' more like an actual battle of expansion. Really well done. The 'perks' weren't over the top, the unlockables weren't crazy...it was one you could actually get better at by virtue of...y'know, GETTING BETTER AT IT.Spooky wrote:I was with the one or two other people here (and possible in the world) that LOVED the multiplayer in this game. Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Is there a way to find out if there is still semi-decent MP activity before I go re-buy the game? I doubt it but I wonder if there is a way to see server population for games online to tell how strong a community is...

I don't know if you can more info than this, which just shows Medal of Honor is not in the top 20 played.Spooky wrote:Is there a way to find out if there is still semi-decent MP activity before I go re-buy the game? pulled out my copy and threw it in for a round or two. there were only about 650 players online, give or take. Underrated game, IMO.

That's not too bad. Enough to get some full rounds of that 'rush' type mode.Wilk5280 wrote:pulled out my copy and threw it in for a round or two. there were only about 650 players online, give or take. Underrated game, IMO.

Agreed. I remember playing some MP with you Teal and REALLY enjoying it. It was intense. I remember being pinned down for what seemed forever on the one map but still being able to wiggle out of it with help from teammates. I'll definitely be checking out this one.Teal wrote:I was one of those one or two other people...LOVED the first game. LOVED it. SP, MP, all of it. Yikes. Hope it's not that fast paced in regular modes.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Exactly what I was thinking...that had some COD pace to it. I guess they have to show gameplay like that to get some hype about it. No one wants to see someone methodically maneuvering to an objective for 90 seconds.Spooky wrote:Yikes. Hope it's not that fast paced in regular modes.
Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
If you noticed, every frame was darn near everyone sprinting. Yeah, my guess is that is just an 'impact' trailer, and needed to be slambang. If it's anything like the last one, it'll be awesome.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
It's damn near impossible to tell too much from those trailers, but I did notice it was groups of soldiers--there was no lone-wolfing shown.
It is a safe bet that this will be fast paced though in this COD-ified world though.

Read up on it some. You will be divided up in teams, then in two man teams within the team, and will receive bonus XP for working with your partner, although you don't have to. It reads as though it's much like the last one, but less 'Battlefield-y', since Danger Close is doing the whole thing this time, rather than DICE doing the MP.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Some leaked alpha footage:
I will be getting this game solely for MP, still hard to say how good it will be though.
The map there is very COD-style. The heli bit was a little weird--couldn't tell what he was shooting at. It also appears that melees aren't 1-hit kills, which is a relief.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
These two videos are the equivalent of fresh road kill to me: I'm turning and running from the stench as quickly as possible.
I know these are promotional videos, but I see ZERO tactics in either of these videos. It's just run and gun.
This game looks like EA's answer to COD. It's not my cup of ballistic tea, man.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Thanks for posting this Naples. I am also not a fan of the run/gun style of play but I again think they are trying to show the "intensity" of the up close gun battles. This also looked like a TDM gameplay as well so hopefully the Combat Mission will play more slower paced.
Still getting this game because this was one of a FEW SP games that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
I can't disagree with your assessment--it's definitely taking a COD cue and it's going to be somewhat mindless shooting, especially in TDM. The only difference I see from COD is that the soldiers are clustered more.pk500 wrote:These two videos are the equivalent of fresh road kill to me: I'm turning and running from the stench as quickly as possible.

I am fine with this because the fact is the vast majority of online gaming time will be with randoms, and trying to rely on said randoms for any kind of tactics and teamwork is maddening. I go into my semi-conscious zen state, flanking and pwning noobz.
Ghost recon on the other hand is very tactical, but nearly all of my online games are total routes which aren't very fun whether you're on the winning or losing side.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter
I've actually been playing some COD and enjoying (most of the time) it for what it is. to be able to hop online and play a round of Domination in less than 10 minutes is perfect for when I need a break from work. I can see where Naples is coming from in regards to Ghost.. It doesn't really bother me as while i'm in the game i'm simply trying to stay alive. I think they made a bit of a mistake with the maps... I much prefer the more open spaces of previous Ghost Recon games.

Agree 100 percent. A tactical game in close confines is not as much fun.FifaInspected wrote:I much prefer the more open spaces of previous Ghost Recon games.
GR:FS is still a very good game. But its core gameplay is not as tactical as the original GR and its spinoffs on the Xbox.
