Man the Lakers gave up a lot for Nash. I wish him luck and hope he gets his title. Looks like Brooklyn is building a solid team especially if they can get Howard. I can't wait for the NBA season to start.

someone may need to check on DB.

were hoping Nash would be on his way to NYK to mentor Lin. That said, if Lin were on his way out (which would expect from this inept franchise) then i prefer it this way. Lin is young. And the Knicks are a very far ways off anyway

Not sure Nash helps them. Is scoring their problem? Well maybe from the PG but they have scoring options elsewhere.

Problem is defense where they couldn't stop Westbrook or Paul in the Western Conference. Nash isn't going to help with that.

Sessions had his moments, very quick to the hole, but his jumper is unreliable.

They got rid of Fisher because he was too old and slow, couldn't defend. Nash may get them some easy baskets but on a lot of possessions, he's going to lob the ball in to the big men or to Kobe on an iso play.

Respectfully disagree about the Lakers.

Nash for two first-round picks? I think ANY team in the NBA would make that deal. It's even more attractive for L.A., which has little trouble attracting premium free agents and doesn't need to build as much through the draft as teams in smaller, lower-impact markets.

Sure, the Lakers also gave up two second-round picks, but second-rounders often are used on guys who don't stay in the league past their first contract, especially in the Lakers' usual low draft position.

Bryant, Gasol, Bynun and Nash? That's a hell of a core with which to challenge OKC in the West.

I'm bummed the Knicks didn't get Nash. But if Houston dangles a rumored contract at Lin that includes an eight-figure salary at the end of the deal, the Knicks should let the Taiwanese Terror go immediately. I'm still not convinced Lin is the real deal, especially after knee surgery. He sure as sh*t isn't worth $10 million per season. Sure, the guy inflated ratings on MSG. But the Knicks could use that kind of dough to sign a proven point guard, not a 36-game wonder.

Agree 100% with PK. Who cares about draft picks? Seems likes steal. I love me some Nash - last legs & all. Will be fun to watch.

Nash in LA is moot. It's him chasing a ring and he's not going to get it...guaranteed. He doesn't fit in with the Lakers at all. Who exactly is going to run with him? He's the completely wrong type of PG for the Lakers. They need someone that can lock down the opposing teams PG and then let the offense run through the big man. I don't see many pick and rolls with the Lakers big men...not exactly a strength of either Pau or Bynum.

The Suns were going to lose him anyway and getting ANYTHING for him was a bonus (2 firsts and 2 seconds, hell yes even if they are at the tail end of the round). Yes, I'd have rather he had gone to NYK and brought Phoenix back Shumpert (even though he'd miss most of next year anyway), but getting Dragic for the less money annually then Nash is probably a win for Phoenix as Dragic will probably be a steal at the end of the deal whereas Nash will be overpaid. For the next year, maybe two, Nash obviously is a better option but for the financial health of the Suns, I'll take Dragic going forward. The Suns aren't winning a title in the next few years anyway given the mistake contracts they made to Childress & Warrick, so until they get rid of those contracts, they will be mediocre. If they get Gordon somehow from N.O. (probably sign and trade because the Hornets said they'd match the Suns' max contract offer to him), then the Suns will make the playoffs and they'll be competitive for the top half of the West. Probably a 5-6 seed. I LOVE Gordon...so that would be just ideal. Most likely they'd lose Dudley in the trade, but Gordon could be one of my top 5 players to watch right now, so it's all good.

Give me a Dragic, Gordon, Beasley, Gortat starting 4 w/ either Morris/Hill/or some other random PF, and I'm a happy dude in the post-Nash era. Gonna be tough to pull Gordon from N.O. unless he gives them an ultimatum like Joe Johnson did to Phoenix a few years back.

I don't think Nash fits in right "now" with this lakers team, but I don't know if this will be the final roster. It's possible between now and next season's trade deadline, the could build a roster better suited for Nash's game. Regardless, I'd rather watch them with Nash than Sessions.

Oh yeah of course. Just don't think the team is built to win unless there is a Howard trade on the horizon.

And Nash is a traitor. :D

Wow the Knicks sure screwed up the Lin situation.

So disappointed the Suns weren't able to get Gordon out of New Orleans. I would have loved to him and Dragic in the backcourt next year but alas it isn't to be. Now the backup plan in phoenix has to be OJ Mayo which isn't all that bad either. Need some defensive presence on D and he fits the mold.

Looks like Houston hosed it by offering that kind of backloaded deal. ONce that happened, no way the Knicks were going to match.

Exactly. I don't see how the Knicks screwed up this situation. I doubt they ever were going to pay Lin $15 million in the third year of a contract when there's a very good chance he'll average eight to 10 points per game, five or six assists and five or six turnovers per game in that season.

I'll take Raymond Felton -- who has a proven on-court chemistry with Stoudemire -- and Jason Kidd at the point for less money than Lin any day. Lin hasn't even played one full trip around the league. Teams will figure him out. He'll probably be a solid point guard in the league. But a $15-million man? No.

'Melo nailed the Lin contract situation exactly when he called the deal offered by Houston "ridiculous." It would be just as ridiculous for the Knicks to match. The Knicks only would have matched the deal if Howard signed with Brooklyn. That would have been too much star power at the Barclays Center for Dolan to stomach, and he would have coughed up the excessive dough so the fans' favorite pet could stay at MSG.

The Knicks don't need Lin to boost ticket sales. They already sell out nearly every game. Sure, Linsanity hiked licensed merchandise sales and local ratings on MSG, but that only lasts so long once Lin returns to Earth, signs of which already appeared during the playoffs.

I have no problem parting company with Lin. I'm stoked Felton is back.

The Knicks won't build their franchise around Felton, and they weren't going to build it around Lin, either. Deron Williams is -- by the length of the Number 4 subway line -- the best point guard in New York, whether Lin stays or goes.

The Knicks screwed it up by destroying their cap space AGAIN. Dolan has proven he has zero idea how to build a team and mange the cap in the process. Thus preventing him from signing Lin and capitalizing the s*** out of the name. That is how they screwed up.

I 100% agree that Felton is better. Lin is okay but Dragic for 8 mil a year is a way better deal.

In other news...why the hell did the suns just claim Scola...ugh. They have like five power forwards now and zero shooting guards. Talk about not knowing how to build a team. Eeesh.

Yep. You're right about that. Dolan just thinks he can throw money at players blinded by the bright lights of Manhattan, forgetting there's a cap.

Then again, Dolan is quite tight with Isiah Thomas and thinks he's a good coach. 'Nuff said.

Lin served his purpose, he got the Knicks back on cablevision or whatever that dispute was. He wasn't worth anything anymore.

But Lin appears to have one advantage over Kidd: He stays sober behind the wheel in the Hamptons.

Kurt Thomas and Felton. But at least the Knicks sent away one older dude in that deal -- Jared Jeffries.

Interesting reading:

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.co ... more-32161

Based on the boost to the market value of the company that owns the Knicks and all the off court fan interest, it might be worth it.

OTOH, Lin might have more off court income opportunities in NY than in Houston, so it might have been better not to sign that offer sheet with Houston.

Guess Nike wasn't offering him extra money to sign with a big market club -- assuming Nike even signed him to an endorsement deal.

The Nash acquisition makes a lot more sense now:

Regardless of how much of an asshat Howard was this year, that's going to be a scary team, especially if they keep Gasol.

Im excited for Bynum. He now becomes, arguably, the best center in the East. I'll miss Iggy. He had his ups and downs in Philly but he is a hell of a defender and finisher. Collins has made him a better player the past two seasons so Denver gets a very good player.

As far as Bynum, two things worry me - obviously he only has one year left on his deal so that is a risk. Also, the behavior issues are a concern. Any LA guys want to way in on those? Are they overblown or legitimate concerns? Hopefully Collins can have an impact on him like he has on so many others.
