That game sucked. I believe that puts the final nail in the coffin for the Celtics, although I hope I'm wrong.
If Miami wins game 7, I'm really going to root for OKC.

Momentum in a series is a fallacy. It's all about how you play in ONE game...so losing a game doesn't equal losing a series. It's statistically proven. People just like to make excuses why their team can't close. It happens.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:And this is why losing game 2 will cost the Celtics this series.

Yeah, that was a pantheon performance. To do that at Boston in an elimination game was really remarkable.dbdynsty25 wrote:I appears as though Miami came out a bit motivated this evening. Whoa. Lebron. Never seen him really sack up like this with the exception of that game 5 against Detroit when he was still with the Cavs a few years back.
After seeing the back and forth of this series, nothing will surprise me for game 7. I have no idea how this will end.

Major sports dilemma for me Saturday night: Game 7 of this compelling series versus the Pacquiao-Bradley fight and undercards.
The fights will prevail, as I'm having buddies over for a party. But thank God for the DVR.

The fact is the Heat are the better team.
When you play a better team, you can't waste (lose) games where you play at your best or at least outplay your opponent.
That's what happened in game 2.
Celts have won 3 of the 4 games they've outplayed the Heat.
If somehow the C's win game 7, they would have potentially outplayed the Heat in 5 of 7 games.
Who would have though that even be possible?
I'm not making excuses for the Celtics, I'm just making a point.

Uhhh...Hello? Have you not been reading this thread? I've been saying all along I think the Heat will pull it out but the Celtics will give them a hell of a push. The Celts always play the Heat tough...always. So at least someone thought it was possible.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:It's not a momentum thing.dbdynsty25 wrote:Momentum in a series is a fallacy. Great half despite some of the non calls Miami seems to get.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Well...as I predicted. Great series...Boston was legit and ALWAYS plays Miami well, yet Miami would prevail. Sooo...you're welcome.
It's just too bad my brother in law couldn't pick the right outcome. He kind of is starting a sports gambling site in Lake Tahoe, CA...and he had two possible outcomes to the game tonight. Heat +5 and a total of 175 or Heat +12.5 and 189 points. He went with the first one on his site. Woops. I mean the second was dead nuts on with it's a 13 point game and 189 points. Just impressive.
So my finals prediction...toss up. I literally do not know who I'd pick. I've gone back and forth, back and forth for the past two hours and I just don't know.
But as of Saturday night at 10:33pm PST, I've got Heat in 6. I've got two days to change my mind, which I'm sure I'll do three or four times. The tipping point is they've got the best player in the game. It's just a matter of if Game 6 Lebron shows up a few times in the series. If he does, the Heat roll.
The one thing that really screws me up, is the stupid f'n format in the finals. 2-3-2...different than the first three rounds. So stupid. But that's why I've got Heat in 6...just win one of the 2 in OKC to start off the series and then you can pretty much ice it at home.

I don't like the format of the finals either..
I was pulling hard for Boston.. Not sure if it was due to wanting them to win or the Heat to lose.
I do believe that Miami vs OKC is the better final. My gut is that OKC's youth and athleticism may have been too much for the Celtics.

I like the Thunder in seven. These teams are so evenly matched that I think Miami having the tougher Eastern championship series and OKC having home court gives the Thunder a slight edge. And the Thunder coming back to win four straight was just so damn impressive.
Should be an exciting series.

I've been playing DDSPB3 by Wolverine Studios (text sim) and I'm going to take the Timberwolves to their first title ever!

DB: with Game 1 in the books, do you have any new insight. Do you believe Miami may still win?dbdynsty25 wrote:Thanks ESPM.MizzouRah wrote:Thunder take Game 1..
Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Impressive to see the Thunder come out and win like that. Despite being the younger team, they looked considerably more poised and hungry for the championship. Playing at home doesn't hurt, but even with 3 games at Miami, I don't see the Heat winning if they fall behind 0-2.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Yes. I believe they win tomorrow and then win 2 of 3 at home and then one of the last two in OKC. I still think Lebron pulls it out, even though I hate the guy and how un-clutch he's been so far in his career. It's a game of adjustments and they looked outstanding for about 3/4 of that game and just fell apart on D in the second half. So I still expect them to win even though I want the Thunder to win. The key is gonna be Wade tho...the guy looks off and has looked off the entire playoffs so far. So if he gets back to being DWade, then I think they will be fine for sure. If he doesn't, then my prediction may just be a crock and they'll get swept.vinny-b wrote:DB: with Game 1 in the books, do you have any new insight. Man I hope DB is right even though I still see The Thunder as the better team.
Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
It's hard to believe LeBron is only 2-9 in his finals career.

Well...I'm right so far. All tied up going back to South Beach.
Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Durant should have been shooting free throws on his last shot attempt. But have to hand it to the Heat, that was an impressive road win, even if they blew their lead in the fourth. James is playing the best basketball of his playoff career.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Lord, I hate the 2-3-2 format for a seven-game series for ANY sport. Gives an unfair advantage to the lower seed. All it has to do is split the first two games, and it's in the driver's seat, getting a blowjob from title glory.
