I'm going to hold off to see if this game has legs for more than two weeks. I have my doubts since there's such a small, but devoted, group playing it here.

Nothing worse for me in gaming than dropping $40-60 on a new title only to see it fizzle within a month at DSP. And I'm sensing it seems to be a bit of potluck to find randoms who want to play the game as intended.

Glad you guys are enjoying this. But I remain a Doubting Thomas. I smell smoke, but I don't see fire.

That's because the fire is under your ass...I'm trying to keep the damned thing lit! :D

For what it's worth, I'm still totally impressed and loving this game.

I've actually added like 6-7 people to my friends ist since playing this game in MP. That is something I have not done in a LONG time. That is a testament to the type of people playing this how it's supposed to be played - working together and communicating. The community is better than any shooter I've played since the original Xbox. Maybe I've been very lucky but so far I'm impressed.

Well.. I guess it should be no surprise that this game reminds me of the glory days of ghost recon. I played two hours of online co-op and a number of rounds of Saboteur with Teal. The pace was slow, the fun was unreal.

You f*ckers are tempting me. But I worry about longevity ...

But it is my 47th birthday tomorrow, so maybe. :)

So, PK, the question really boils down to - does anything really have 'legs' any more at DSP from a large group standpoint? Even F1 seems to have hit a lull (which may be temporary but who knows...)

The 2 things that are pretty evident here at DSP is that we love a great sports game and a great shooter. The problem is that even when a GREAT one comes out, it's tough to get us all rounded up to take full advantage of the multiplayer aspects. This is why Tiger is such a hit here. It's MP aspect is based on each individuals schedule.

BF3 had it's moments here and I truly believe that if that game had private sessions it would have been in the regular rotation for a long time to come. But it does not, and even if it did, the scale of that game truly shines when you have a huge # of people paying it (which would never happen here even in our "hay day"). So here comes GR:FS, and to me, it has all of the perfect elements to make it a DSP hit (even knowing that 'poker nights' aren't what they used to be). At max it is 6 on 6. Which means that even if we have 6 players total we can do 3v3 and have a blast! The map sizes are brilliantly designed and seem to be exactly what fits a smaller group. And we can set-up private matches of any type. We can also do squads (a type of party system) that seems to work even better than BF3. And again, with the matches so small compared to BF3, geting 3 people in a squad and jumping into random matches means that our DSP squad is HALF the team. So even if the other half is not great or not communicating, we can still make a huge impact and have a blast. Trust me. The majority of random matches that I have had which turned out to be incredibly fun and strategic were ones that only 3-4 of us were talking and coordinating.

Add to that the ability to just hit up some Co-Op campaign with 2-4 guys or play Guerilla mode and you have a game that certainly has enough 'legs' for a 2012 type DSP game.

Great video of Tips Danimal. I had known about the 'RB" button being used for targeting stuff but had no idea you could hold it down to select things like the closest marked enemy. I also didn't really understand the 'Confidence Meter' until watching that. This game just gets better and better.

I no longer buy games with longevity being part of my buying decision. If a game has legs within the community great.. if not.. oh well. As twisted as this sounds, if I buy a game and enjoy 5-10 nights of playing it online with friends i'm happy. That's cheap entertainment. Just leaving the house to go out with my wife or friends on a weekend night is going to cost me at the very least the price of a game and in some cases a lot more.

$10 a night for 4-5 hours of entertainment is a value in my book.

I wonder why the gaming companies are continuing to do that. Have the PC versions coming out later than consoles...just like Max Payne 3 as well. I'm still shocked no one has started playing MP3 so far around here...or at least there hasn't been any talk yet.
Couldn't find a MP3 thread.. do you have it and if so, how is it? I'm thinking about picking this one up.

FYI there is an iOS app for this game that allows you to customize your guns too.

Very cool. I'll check it out. One thing that I discovered that's a bummer - the loadouts you create for private / custom matches are not saved for some reason. Kinda frustrating.

I have a dinner out with friends tonight but would love to do some shooting later on if people are available. (I know there looks to be some F1 racing too but maybe that will end early enough...?!)

Had my first foray into a MP with randoms yesterday. A definite mixed bag. For every good room with decent communication and guys attempting to accomplish the objectives, I had one where people were blathering on about BF3 and running around like idiots.

I don't mind that ratio, necessarily. It is a pain to have to bail on so many rooms though.

Good times last night Teal! This game does really have some magic and the rewards for playing as a team are well deserved. I have no problems getting my A$$ kicked by a team that plays the way they should.. Some of those teams from last night were darn near fun to watch just because they were so good!
