This is what I was saying about Bryz throughout the playoffs. So unpredictable. He has not been good but at the same time he hasn't been bad enough, although his assist on Clarkson's goal should be credited. Talk about sucking any momentum out of a team. Flyers came with rare emotion the first 12 minutes of the game, the time of effort and hustle that was seen against PIT. Devils have a quick one back on a deflection although I think the Russian still could have made the save and of course the give away. His best game was probably game 4 but he couldn't steal any wins. This is a guy that was supposed to be the rock when they signed him in the offseason, yet people were waiting as to when he would crack.
Not sure how the media in Philly will treat this loss, but if he was playing for a Canadian team he would be drilled to death. Just ask Roberto Luongo.
Credit to the Devils, much like the Yotes they are nothing spectacular but they get the job done.

Okay, his giveaway for the game winner tonight was a joke, but he has been the flyers' best player this series, and by a wide margin. And no place is harder on goalies than Philadelphia.

Co signed. Hartnell, Jagr, Simmonds...all huge contributors all year long were invisible in the series.
The Devils were the better team and they outplayed the Flyers. They deserve to move on.
Defense can make a goalie look great or make him look bad. Bryz did not have much help in front of him this series. I don't think you can pin the series loss on him. He didn't stand on his head and was not excellent by any means, however the Flyers failed to score a lot of goals and seemed to be outworked on the defensive end. The Devils, Yotes, and Kings are showing how the playoffs are a different beast than the regular season in the NHL.
Watching the World Hockey Championship is everything the current playoffs isn't in NA. Fast, furious, fun and just non stop action with little whistles in between. Not yet in the final stages of the tournament and Finland-Canada was a pleasure to watch.

Remove betmans name from any hockey event and it is instantly better.
Remember how great those 10 Olympic hockey games were?
I know gutting the weasel isnt the answer to all that ails the NHL but it is a GREAT f***in START!
A little "04" Tampa Bay Lightning flavor to the Rangers with Brad Richards, Ruslan Fedotenko, and of course Coach Torts. I normally don't root for any NY teams, but in this case...Go Rangers!
Rangers-LA finals is what the league and everyone else would like to see. I give kudos to the Caps for fighting til the end. All games were close, and everyone bought into Hunter's plan except OV who went for a little skate on the winning goal. B. Richards was amazing and also King Lundqvist. Rangers should take care of the Devils in 6.

I certainly hope so. I'm feeling confident about this round but I'm scared of the finals. I've been a Kings fan for far too long to feel over confident about them winning anything.
I thought game one was crucial in this series. I felt that if the Kings could win the first game and solve Smith then the series would be there's for the taking. While the Coyotes are a hard working team that has been playing well and has a great goaltender, the fact is they don't have the talent level of any of the remaining teams and they've been relying far too much on their goal tending and a streak of lucky bounces. By winning and generally dominating game one I think the Kings have snapped the Coyotes lucky streak. The Yotes can't expect to get dominated every game and keep eeking out wins like they did in the Nashville series.

Well, while is it still too early to declare a SC champion I will be rooting for the Kings. The thing that amazes me about this post regular season LA team is that they haven't lost on the road yet. Their so called grinding lines are hard workers and keep creating turnovers especially the 4th liners PHO couldn't play any worse yesterday and they are usually a decent home team. Knowing the confidence that LA has these days, their next game is a must win. A final with the Rangers would a tight affair between both teams. They have won the most 1-0 2-1 games in their respective conferences during the regular season and both goaltenders continue to shine. But first things first. NJ will put a good fight in what should be an emotional battle with NYR and again I do think that the Yotes will rebound in game 2.
I was pulling for the Kings and Caps, but now all I have left is the Kings. The Kings look so good.
The only drawback to this, is that now a lot of Flyers fans are hyperventilating that Carter and Richards could win the cup in LA, which in their mind is awful and makes last offseason's trade a mistake.
It is disappointing to me though, that all the teams left are so defensively oriented. Everyone should've been rooting for the Flyers, because success breeds imitation, and the Flyers this year played firewagon hockey. Clutch and grab is creeping back into the game, and NYR and LA are as defensive as you can get (2nd and 3rd in GAA this year).

Yeah, and I wrote something to that extent where I think the league is threading on a dangerous thin line back to the grabbing, clutching and holding years prior to the write off season. Problem is, it already started around February and not just during the playoffs. I don't need to see goals galore like the PHI-PIT series because both goalies were pathetic, but I do want to see more offensive minded teams. Intent alone is worth a lot. The way these 4 teams play, they prey on turnovers while pressing hard on the pursuit of the puck, backed with excellent goaltending.

I've watched a lot of the Kings.. any team that can run through the Canucks and the Blues like they did and as hot as they have been since February.. I just don't see any team hanging with how they have been playing. They are dominant in ALL areas and I don't see any weak points on this team. They are fast, big, strong and have the best goaltender in the playoffs right now.

I agree that the clutching and grabbing has been creeping back. I feel like the refs have been letting it go all season. That being said, the Kings aren't as offensively deficient as their season long GF totals suggest. Every since the trade deadline, and even the call up of King and Nolan, the kings offense has been one of the best in the league. They've been averaging over 3 a game.
The hard forechecking style of the Kings is a lot more exciting than the extremely passive style that Tampa Bay uses. They hit hard and often and who doesn't like that?
