In my case it's about 60%, but most of the birdie putts I missed were because I left them short, or didn't hit them hard enough to hold the line I intended. I need to go a little bit closer to what he's suggesting on uphill putts, but he can send you way past the hole on downhill putts!
The one trick I also suggest is if you hit it long and you know you did let the shot play out at the green because you can get a good read on the roll for chips.
I need to be more patient with this... I'm way too quick to hit the fast forward button at the end of a shot. I can think of a number of times last night where I could have learned something from watching the ball roll past the hole on pitches and approaches.

Has there been a drop off in active players? I don't know if average Club participation is a stat that the game reports on, but it seems like it has been about the same in active members since the first week or so. Unfortunately, since the game(and/or the web site) does not allow us to view the final scores of all our Daily's and Weekly's to date, I can only go by what has been posted in these threads. Full 4 round participation numbers for the Weeklys so far are as follows:

Augusta National - (Unknown)
East Lake - (15)
Liberty National - (14)
TPC at Scottsdale - (15)
The Old White TPC - (15)

There were usually 2-3 DQ's in those lists of players posting 1 or more rounds but not getting the full 4. So it seems like it has actually been pretty consistent in participation numbers, at least for the Weekly. Does anyone know if we have ever had more than 15 scored in a Daily?

It would be pretty cool if we had 20+ consistently participating in the Weeklys or Dailys but I think at this point no amount of changing the rules on Pros, CAGs, putting grids, points, etc. is going to change the participation numbers. I just think it is a matter of the normal DSP process of short term fascination with a particular game then moving on.

DChaps wrote:Yeah, I experienced several wierd bugs this morning that I have not seen before. I was trying to take some screenshots of the weekly tournament settings as well as the leaderboard and I could not because the CC logo was covering up everything. I started trying other options and all the stat views were covered by CC logo. Wierd. I also had an unprecedented 5 lockups in one night before I finally got a complete practice round in at Bethspage. All my online tournament attempts failed.
Don, you've had more lockups with this game than anyone else I know of. I wanted to share with you this bit of news that just broke at the official forum. Cameron Lee mentioned this in his reply to one of the posters about a number of complaints.

"Freezing problems-
First round of fixes were included in the first TU for 360. PS3 will be getting those plus a couple new ones. 360 will get the new ones"

So there's a new patch in the works for the 360, which apparently will deal with freezing issues. Cameron's response suggests that the first patch was to fix freezes... the frequency of freezes actually increased on my 360 after the patch. At least we now have confirmation that another patch (or TU - Title Update, as they call it) is underway.

Quick question, when using the Caddie for putting, what should I be adjusting? For example if the little caddie recommendation circle is about 3 feet to the right of the cup and 5 feet behind it, does it mean that is where I should aim and hit it very hard? I tried several different approaches to adjusting based on the caddie circle and never seemed to figure out what I was supposed to be doing.[/quote]

Yeah, I guess. Whatever the reason it just plain sucks. Right now we don't even have a full OCC because of people dropping out. I travel back east for work next week so my participation will be down, but this will primarily be the only game I play until the BF3 DLC drops and then the late summer / fall rush of releases.

For me I know I make it a point of playing in the weekly, and then if I have extra time, playing in a daily. But I imagine with summer coming on, folks time is getting spread around, so participation will probably drop off somewhat.......

unless it rains all summer. Then I'll play more. ;)

I think there's been a slight, overall drop. We've got some members who can't play regularly and I do see a mix of those who make scattered appearances. From my discussions with others who play in CC's that have a Tournament difficulty focus like ours, our numbers for participation are actually slightly above average.

We could go outside of DSP and recruit members who would probably play more, but I think we'd lose our identity. I like the makeup of our club, but I am wondering what happened to the six or seven DSP'ers who were on the "waiting list" for entry into DSP CC. Is the DSPII club still in operation? We've had an opening for three days now and no takers...

The numbers you listed look accurate. I do recall one Daily where we had 17 entrants; can't remember which one it was. I do wish that EA Sports had delivered a website that would allow us to look at leaderboards, stats, and history.

EA Sports now has the OCC software working correctly, or so it appears. I was able to set up a Daily at Sawgrass. It's set for a 7:00 PM EDT start. I haven't checked to see if it's listed as an upcoming tournament on our Club menu within the game though.

Anyone up for a DLC Daily at Spyglass Hill tomorrow?

Been super busy with work and coaching. Season is coming to an end so hopefully I can get in some time soon.

Man, just finished my first round at Bethpage.

I like the no grids and caddie settings, but I advocated this a while ago so I won't beat a dead horse.

Came in at +4, but mainly because I despise Bethpage in general. All those uphill approach shots, par 4s that I can't reach in 2...just awful IMO. My score would've been better if I putted better---my reads were correct, I simply mishit a handful of putts. I also couldn't gauge the wind on my approach shots this round---93% of fairways, 50% of greens.

Hogz at -13 after 2 rounds on the weekly. He is the only person taming Bethpage. I shot even par for round 3 so if you take away my 2 bad holes in round one I would be +4 after 3 rounds which is pretty dang good for me. Problem is you can take them away. :)

I have it, but I happened to be in Seoul as I post this on business. Will be back to my normal schedule this weekend.

Good for you and Truth. I am out of town now, so what about the other elite guys? Who else is shooting in the red?

When I played last night, even par was good for the 3rd place I think.

Everyone is clear that even though we get 2 tries you're suppose to report your first score right?

Yes. It's crystal clear. I don't see how anyone could have missed that rule. Are you suggesting we may have cheaters?

Yep, clear here as well.

I am liking the gridless greens more and more I think. I have played some without them and always went back to the grids, but gridless just seems more life like. But have fun playing either way.

JC - I played someone last night named HadesGateKeeper, or something like that. He said he had you on his friends list and played you before. He was a very good player, beat me by two strokes. Although, I was playing pretty fast cause I wanted to hit the sack and missed a few birdies by mear inches. Is he part of the club that wants to play us? Are they open to gridless greens as well sometimes?

No just making sure it was clear. I thought it was but there was some concern it wasn't.

Hell I posted a +12 if that was my 2nd try I really suck. :)

Haha, I was gonna say, based on the scores we're seeing, if people are trying to cheat the system, they're doing it very poorly!

The settings have really caused me to slow down and play better. With the grids on I tend to get lazy and rush my shots.

I don't have time for multiple tries!

No, I'm all about the 1 and done. As I've said before, that is where a lot of the fun comes in for me.

I've been unable to play as much the last couple of weeks, and now I'm spraying the ball all over the place! Never missed so many fairways!

Yes, he is part of the group that I played a few weeks back. I didn't hear back from him this week concerning his round-robin idea with our club. I haven' mentioned gridless greens to him. I'll hit him up again and see if we can get the match play round-robin going with them. I could do it tonight or Sunday night. He has formed a new club because the one they were in was abandoned by the admin. Forgot the name of the new club. I'll look it up and report back.

Yes, the two submissions are there in the event the player experiences a freeze or disconnection during the round. You can only submit one score, but the system could be abused by playing the round until you decided you weren't happy with the round, and back out intentionally. The freezes and disconnects are frequent enough that we probably need to up the tries to 4 for weekly tournaments. We've had players in DSP CC get knocked out of weeklies because they've experienced more than two round ending events while online.

Dan, I just PM'd Spooky concerning our opening in the DSP CC. He may not be tuned into the thread to know that there is one.

Don't forget you're bleeding red in this tournament also :) But yes, 12 under par on that track under these conditions... I am truly not worthy! 8O  I wish HOGZ had a video of himself playing these two rounds. I pay 1000 EA coins just to watch it and learn
