Not as much as you'd think. Those little relapses and injury history sure can put a damper on a guys earning potential. He'll get 100 mil, but not even close to Pujols and Fielder money.snaz16 wrote:9 HR in one week... nice push in your free agent season Josh Hamilton. Whats this guy gonna get
Re: MLB 2012 Season
That could be,but I wouldn't be surprised if that team right in your own back yard makes a statement with new ownership. Put him in the Dodger lineup now and thats as dangerous of a team as any in the NL.dbdynsty25 wrote:Not as much as you'd think. Have a feeling they are gonna blow their load on Hamels and Kershaw this offseason...so there won't be THAT much money to go around in Dodgertown.snaz16 wrote:That could be,but I wouldn't be surprised if that team right in your own back yard makes a statement with new ownership. That was an enjoyable sweep of a weekend in St. Louis.

People said I was crazy when I said the Braves would contend. As long as they keep hitting the way they are currently, they will be in the thick of things because their pitching will be fine.MizzouRah wrote:They looked damn good, that's for sure.dbdynsty25 wrote:That was an enjoyable sweep of a weekend in St. Louis.
Re: MLB 2012 Season
That's a great division so far. Phillies will make their push, but it's fun watching Washington, Miami and the Braves give them some competition. It was great to see Chipper one last time, he will be missed.dbdynsty25 wrote:People said I was crazy when I said the Braves would contend. I just wonder if my beloved Nats can keep on keepin' on given the number of guys on the DL. I swear every sports team I follow is jinxed with injuries. see: Nationals, Oilers, Bears.......
But good to see Harper get his first HR tonight. And as a bonus, the Nats game is the free MLB.TV game of the day.
Now, if Rodriquez can only hold on for the save.....

Leon, the rookie catcher the nats brought up sprained his ankle in his first ever start. They need a witch doctor or Allegheny ng!

Cubs amazingly don't suck. I don't expect them to be able to contend for even the crappy NL Central title, but they are competitive and there's a fair amount of promising young talent in the franchise for the first time in a while. I also tip my cap to Tony Campana for making bunting exciting for Cubs fans.

Harper is fun to watch. Hes only 19 so he is going to do some stupid stuff. Just think of some of the stupid s*** we did when we were 19Gangrel wrote:I just wonder if my beloved Nats can keep on keepin' on given the number of guys on the DL. Now, if Rodriquez can only hold on for the save...... This kid has a camera on him 75% of the time. From what I've seen so far he plays the game the way it's supposed to be played.
He just needs a new haircut. That mohawk thing has got to go!
Oh well, i'm just jealous.... he makes more in a game then I probably do in 6 months!

Re: MLB 2012 Season
Like I said. Especially since it was against the Astros. Ugh. And it's funny that I talked sh*t about the Mets and their zero no hitters and now even THEY have one. Get out of here with that overrated stat. Hell, like fifteen Mariners combined for one last week. Horrible.dbdynsty25 wrote:There's no more overrated accomplishment in baseball than a no hitter. Re: MLB 2012 Season
With J. Bautista on the disable list after his sprained wrist injury last night, you can safely say that his absence is the final nail to the coffin for the Jays season riddled with ridiculous injuries. It's too bad, I really thought that they had a chance at the extra wild card spot this year but not with the current lineup. Yankees are already 3-0 now in the 4th inning.
Re: MLB 2012 Season
Will be strange watching Ichiro play for the Yankees and hitting tonight against no less than the only team he's played for.

Re: MLB 2012 Season
Another perfect game...yawn. 3rd of the year...again, an overrated achievement if there ever was one. Especially since that's the 4th no hitter thrown against the Rays in 3 years! How is that possible?
Oh and at least we know why Melky Cabrera has been having a career year since leaving Atlanta (in shambles). Steroids. Suspended 50 games. Peace out Melk Man.

Re: MLB 2012 Season
how can the LA Dodgers ownership be this f#cking dumb? I can't fathom it. To let the Red Sox off the hook, for all the money they owe. And even send prospects in return.
as for Boston. Very very lucky. The recipient of "suckers being born every minute"

Re: MLB 2012 Season
Considering the best sport in the world finished it's regular season yesterday and this thread is gathering dust on page 3, I would like to chime in.
Great season (if you don't count my Blue Jays - let us never speak of 2012 again)
Highlights:
1. Triple Crown winner...what a hitter this guy is.
2. 7 No-hitters (Nothing like getting to watch the final out of a no-hitter)
3. Oakland/Baltimore/playoffs. Did I just write that?
4. Mike Trout
5. Red Sox with 69 wins.
Bring on the playoffs...

Re: MLB 2012 Season
It was a great season and I'm looking forward to the post season. I wish you could have written Bal/Oak/PITTSBURGH in the playoffs though. It's the way the Pirates got to 79 wins that was the most frustrating. Throw on top of Collapse Part 2 the "hoka hey" and Navy Seals training embarrassments as well as the utter lack of a response to Cutch getting beamed by Chapman and August and September were about as low as a team can go. Otherwise, I'd be optimistic because the team has improved 22 games from 2 years ago, has some legit pitching prospects in the high minors and promising field players in the low minors, has one of the best players in the game under a team friendly contract for the next 6 years, Pedro Alvarez seems to be back on track to be a 40 HR man eventually, and they have other pieces to build around or trade like Walker, Jones, and Hanrahan. My problem is not where the Pirates are as I believe they are better off now than before Neal Huntington. It's where they should be if he didn't waste money on washed up veteran players, had better drafts, and developed players that have a clue about the fundamentals of the game. And that goes for Hurdle as well. The Pirates continued to waste outs on the basepaths, strikeout at an alarming rate, give away outs trying to bunt when the team actually did better with the Earl Weaver strategy, epically failed at throwing out runners attempting to steal, and made questionable decisions on bullpen and playing time at shortstop and catcher. Throw in the worst bench by far in baseball for a "contending" team and it was only a matter of time before the house of cards fell.

F*ck MLB and their 2:07pm PST start time of the Braves/Cards play-in game. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Even on the east coast, most people aren't home from work before 5pm. Guarantee if they started both games at 6pm, they'd get better ratings for both games than they would if they keep it as is.

Honestly, I don't see the Cards figuring out Kris Medlen. The Braves have won 23 consecutive games when he's started a game. That's insane! The guy has unbelieveable stuff. Plus, while Lohse has pitched the best for the Cardinals this season, I think I'd rather go with Wainwright who has proven in the past to be an excellent playoff pitcher. St. Louis has been too wildly inconsistent offensively for me to have any faith in them this post season. I'm happy they're in there and any year previous, they wouldn't have sniffed the post season. I guess I like the new wild card format after all.
