Flyers looked incredible in the first period and horseshit in periods 2 & 3. Got outplayed by NJ...who deserved the game.

Total turd of a performance by the Flyers. They treated it like a sleepy January regular season game and the Devils skated circles around them.

Wow, what a marathon in WAS. Ovie had a chance to finish it late in the third, but both Lundqvist and Holtby played superbly.

The other goalie that stood on his head was P. Rinne tonight. If he continues to play at this level, who needs the other 2 guys?

Looks like the nhl refs are ready for baseball season too. An extremely lazy poorly positioned piece of crap ref loses sight of the puck and negates a hard earned Pred goal and hands the win to his league's team.

NHL...Disgraceful ....yet again.... sighs.

The way the first period went, you would think that it was LA down 3-0 in the series. Blues continue to turn over the puck, Elliot gives a couple of softies and D. Brown continues his hot streak in the playoffs. They are hard on the forecheck, physical and at this point the Blues just don't have a clue how to respond. Elliot has to make a few stops to give his team some kind of confidence.

We missed Halak.. I'm not sure what happened to Elliott once the regular season ended.

LA beat us on every faucet of the game though, I'd like to see them and Phoenix go at it.

The Flyers are showing all the signs of losing their nerve, and getting thoroughly worked over.

20 minutes to save the season...

A nice birthday gift fom the Devils to Marty. This dude looks stronger as the games go on and with his experience, he's outplayed Bryzgalov. Glad Zubrus returned to the game and is ok after a questionable hit by Giroux at the end of the second period when Philly was running around.

I'm not sure what basis there is to conclude Brodeur has outplayed Bryz--he barely had to make a save in game 2 and 4, when Bryz was giving his team a chance while being vastly outplayed.

It was disappointing to see Giroux throw that headshot, he did not keep his emotions in check. BTW, on the play the official call was "head contact." I've never heard that one before.

You certainly can't fault the Russian today. I should rephrase that overall the series, Marty has been steadier. When you're outskated, outhustled, and outclassed, in more ways than one and leave the Russian alone like today, he can't make all the saves. With the hefty long contract he's got, he hasn't stolen a game yet the way he did when he was playing for the Yotes.

Right now, the Flyers lack the emotion that served them so well against PIT and overall the series Brodeur hasn't left a softy (game 1 maybe?) as Bryzgalov did a couple of times and just enough to suck any momentum off his team.

BTW, I thought Giroux deserved a 5 minutes for his hit.

I miss the kindler, gentler days of the NHL when a frustrated superstar would just poke an opponent's glove away rather than go headhunting.

Good to see the league suspend Giroux at least for a game. Flyers will win the next one without him.

I am surprised.

Don't get me wrong, Giroux's hit was dirty and in my NHL it would be a pretty easy call to suspend him, but I don't see how this is consistent.

It wasn't egregious like an elbow or leaving his feet, Zubrus wasn't hurt, and Giroux has no prior history. The NHL has turned a blind eye on these grounds countless times before.

You make a good point. The lack of consistency is the main issue I have. I think one game is fair since Giroux has no history, but other stuff has gone completely overlooked. I guess I'm still pissed that Neal did not get anything for leaving his feet and taking a blatant shot at a Flyer and Weber's absolutely clear cheap shot not getting a suspension.

The NHL is tacitly admitting they f***ed up at the start of the playoffs with this 1 game suspension for Giroux. Weber should have got 2 for his headslam, and Neal deserved 3 for two jumping headshots on one shift combined with his previous history.

But Giroux only has himself to blame. It was a dirty, unnecessary headshot.

Great game in NY as Richards ties it up with only 6 seconds left, sending the game to OT.

NYR's!!!

Great, clean hit by Girardi on Green early in overtime. Shoulder to chest, no retaliation by Green. That's the way hockey should be played.

A couple of reasons why the Yotes advanced to the 3rd round. M. Smith and S. Doan. The captain has played lights out thoroughout the playoffs and had a nice assist on PHO's first goal. Smith is so confident these days that he almost scored on an empty netter. Missed it by a couple of inches. The hottest 2 keepers facing each other in a Quick and Smith, should be a fun series.

But really who picked these two teams in the west to fight for a spot in the SC finals?
