I was going to make fun of Newcastle at half time but then I remembered Liverpool could finish today in 11th or 12th so then I started crying.

Martinez has done a great job with Wigan the last few months. That team was destined for relegation in January; now it's en fuego.Macca00 wrote:I was going to make fun of Newcastle at half time but then I remembered Liverpool could finish today in 11th or 12th so then I started crying.
I've had a soft spot for Martinez ever since he worked the ABC studio during World Cup 2010. Liked him on TV. Seems like a good dude.

Makes you wonder what the hell his players have been doing for the first part of the season.Jimmydeicide wrote:Forget Liverpool im on the Wigan Band wagon, Just as close to me. Outstanding coaching job or maybe he promised the players a night with his missus
In other news, the teams just walked out of the tunnel at Carrow Road and Stewart Downing YAWNED. Yes, I just saw him YAWN prior to the game. Boring you are we Stu? 20 million pounds well spent.
f*** me.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Southampton have been promoted, huge pitch invasion as their fans went mad. Hope to see that next week with Wednesday.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
What a day for Suarez, what a moon ball. Beauty.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
You still wouldn't take him back, Jimbo?

In other news, we played the semi-finals of our mens league today. We came back from 2-0 down at half time to tie it 2-2 and then, with about 15 seconds left I basically recreate, almost identically, a Sylvan Distan from the FA Cup semi-final and they score the winner. Made my weekend - we play by the waterfront and I actually threw my boots in Lake Ontario after a 5 minute swearing tirade.
Good times.
Good times.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
The English press has me quite confused.
Before yesterday all I had heard about 'the Hodge' was that he was a great manager, with tons of experience, an impressive CV, who was unfairly treated at Liverpool by their crazy fans who didn't understand his genius.
But now that it looks like he's going to be Ingerlund manager suddenly he's not very good?
Strange, that. All those same journos seemed quite impressed with his 33% career winning percentage just over a year ago....

After all the shitty football you've watched this season, it was inevitable that it manifest itself in your play at some point. Bad timing is all.Macca00 wrote:In other news, we played the semi-finals of our mens league today. Gus Johnson calling soccer games is just weird.

Kompany!

Just a perfect corner kick. This should open things up in the second half.Lancer wrote:Kompany!

Not according to Fergie. It was all down to shoddy officiating and Mancini working over the ref in an unsportsmanlike fashion.
It's like he heard Rondo's press conference yesterday and wanted to trump it for BS per second.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
With the score 1-0, it was still City controlling the ball, always looking for the second goal. United looked too conservative, Shrek was too isolated and they never really threatened Hart. It's all up to City now, there might be another twist yet but in the end I think they'll control their own destiny.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Yaya was immense, thought that was one of the best midfield displays I've seen in some time.
United didn't even manage a shot on target but I knew they'd been in trouble when I saw that Fergie didn't even have Howard Webb on the bench. Still managed to get 5 minutes injury time.
Title still isn't decided though - Newcastle away is going to be very tough for City.

Arsenal confirm they're signing Podolski this summer - I think that's a great signing for them, I think he'll do really, really well in the Premier League.
In other news, Paul Konchesky soon to get an England call up.

That was Fulham's first EVER win at Anfield. Good times.

Nah, it's over. Newcastle's spirit will be broken once Chelsea beats them tomorrow.Macca00 wrote:Yaya was immense, thought that was one of the best midfield displays I've seen in some time.

And even if for some miracle they dont get the full points, United will drop points against Sunderland anyways.

Ah, I see what you're doing - the reverse jinx! Nicely played, my friend. Nicely played!

I may not like United or Fergie but I know enough from the last two decades that you never count United out.
