As usual, a bit over the map with putting and approaches. I took a triple at one point, all putting.

My highlight though was missing an ace on 14 by about 2 inches, and then getting an eagle on the next hole after hitting my 2nd from way right in the rough. I think I caught a flyer lie.
Hey, when you're the cock of the walk, you're there 'til someone knocks you off! :-) I had played a "Club Vs. Club" match (btw, DSPCC went 3-0 in that 4-way simultaneous play match 8) :) ) at Royal Birkdale earlier today, and even though I had the pin placements set on medium, the greens had so many abrupt undulations in them that the grid couldn't depict them all. I can't imagine that these greens would be that bumpy! I set this tournament up on Easy 1 to try to eliminate what I saw earlier. Did you find some undulations in the greens that seemed to be overly severe in your round?

You mention your eagle from the rough, have you guys looked at our DSPCC records in the clubhouse? We've got 4 double eagles in the books now! I think that's pretty phenomenal for a club that strictly plays tournament difficulty!

So the "Easy 1" pin placements didn't make them any more forgiving? I used to love Royal Birkdale in earlier versions of Tiger on the consoles and the PC, but I can't remember any of them having the bizarre nuances in them that I've seen in Tiger 13.

I'll be on later tonight for some head to head play, but I'm going to have to go out a buy a new headset. I got my son's Tritton AX Pro working for chat, but not game audio. It was superb for chat, but if I can't get the game audio through them, I don't want to wear something that bulky and have to pick the game audio up from my surround sound system. I think I'm just going to buy another stock Microsoft wired headset... and steer clear of them with the vacuum cleaner henceforth

I am sure that the top guys like you will nail every two, three foot putts that I would otherwise usually make in other greens, but with the undulation I just never got any rhythm or feel today with the putter.

I should be on later tonight, if you don't have a headset, don't sweat it, I would be up for some club matches.

I found the greens ok from about 5 feet in. Which oddly enough i had more trouble with then longer ones, but mostly due to "heavy fingers", which are killer on fast greens.

In fact, I think all my birdies and eagles (I may have had two this round, I can't remember!) were all from 15 feet+. The greens were undulating for sure, but I find I have always had a good eye for breaks in golf in general, even in real life. It's the execution and speed of the stroke I always mess up in the game! (and real life, lol)

Just haven't had the time to play in any OCC events the past few days. Baseball is wearing me out. I just got in (11pm) from our 3rd game this week. Damn night game went on forever. We don't have a game tomorrow so I'm hoping to get into at least the daily. I'm pissed I missed the Caps/Bruins game 7 too. Looks like it was a barn burner.

Here is a good discussion in a thread on the EA TW Forums about the TCS implementation of tempo in TW13:

John, good game. Again let me know if setting up matches the way I did got any points for the club. Basically I just chose the 'invite friends' under the head 2 head tab, created the tournament and sent you the invite. Did the same thing for Leadfoot when we had an earlier game, but I am not sure about the credits for our CC. The positive thing about inviting friends this way, is that you don't have the randoms jumping in and out.

Weird thing after the game is that I tried to use some of the XP for my CAG and it didn't let me. Strange and I am far from maxin out.

Good puttin out there sir.

I powered through the weekly since I am leaving at 7:30 tomorrow morning for a golf trip. I shot a -14 for the tournament E, -8, -2, -4.

By far my best tournament score. In the first round I only hit 51% of the fairways. This course is a risk / reward course. If you stay on the fairway you'll do well. Some real interesting holes. Some challenging ones and then some real easy one.

I also have decided #15 on this course is my Tin Cup hole as I hit it 3 times into the water in round 1-3 on my 2nd shot and on the 4th round I hit it 4 inches from the hole. I kind of rushed through the last round and 3 putted a few as well.

Besides it being my best score I think I finally had that moment where it clicks. All my missed putts where within 2 feet of the hole not blown past the hole. In fact in round 3 I had 7 puts stop within 12 inches of the hole, most of those 4-6 inches away from dropping.

Anyway good luck fellas off to play the real thing for a week.

Was indeed a lot of fun James! I haven't had a chance to see what that did for our club's status. It's hard to track the progress towards the 25 head to head match achievement, because it doesn't tell you how many of the 25 the club has. I just set up a room in the "Difficulty" sub-room off the main XBox Live Tiger Woods 13 lobby, called "DSP C Club". I set it to where only friends can join that room. Maybe this will be the answer we need to set up head to head club matches without randoms popping in. I sent an invite to MERACE to try to join it so we can see how it works, but if you or any other DSP'ers online at 03:00 AM EDT care to try to join it, let's see what it will do.

Oh, that was a heck of an eagle you carded in our round at PGA National... the course was just jaw droppingly elegant under those lighting conditions, BTW!

10sPro, our round was not credited as a head to head match. I checked the head to head records, within the DSP CC, and our match wasn't reflected. I think for the match to count towards the head to head achievement, it has to be a ranked match (which I understand can't be done by inviting a player to a game).

MERACE and I played a match after you and I played. I created a room called "DSP C Club" in the "Difficulty" sub-lobby within the Tiger Woods 13 XBox Live lobby. I told Mark (MERACE) the name of the sub-forum and he was able to get into that room, which I had set as a friends only room when I created it. I didn't have a problem with randoms trying to join the match I'd created. Mark and I played a 9 hole, ranked match play round, and it got credited to our head to head matches tally in the clubhouse.

Someone told me earlier last night that any match played in head to head, whether it was against your club or not, counted towards this achievement. I don't believe that's really the case because I now have over 30 victories against members of other clubs.

I recommend that from henceforth, whenever we want to have a DSP CC poker night, someone in our club creates a "DSP C Club" room in the "Difficulty" sub-lobby on XBox Live, and set it to friends only. Of course, we'll have to make sure that all of our members are on one another's friends list. Maybe Mark can comment on what how the match I created looked from within the DSP C Club sub-lobby. He joined it within a minute of its creation.

Thanks for posting a target Dan. If you're leaving yourself putts of that distance to the hole, you're where I wanna be. My putts are either in the hole, 20 feet short of it, or 8 feet past it! I one putt a lot of greens, but with my Precision putting recovery method, when I miss - I miss baaaaadly! :)

10spro and I played a practice round there tonight and the course was fabulous; I'm really looking forward to playing this tournament! BTW, 10spro plays at a pace that makes Rory Sabbatini look like Ben Crane :)... and I thought I was a fast player 8O

I'm having moments like that with the game myself. I started out today's Daily at Royal Birkdale with a 4-putt double bogey on the first hole, from 32 feet! It took me 8 more holes before I felt like I could make anything, or even belonged on the course. I wound up birdeying three of the last four holes to finish 3-under. Be honest though, would you be as intrigued with this game if it weren't capable of doing this to you from time to time? It's very much like real golf in that sense.

Naples, your 6 under par round is looking pretty darn good right now... heck of a round mate! Let's not overlook the fact that DChaps posted an even par round. This is a heck of a track to post your first even par round on in Tournament difficulty... Kudos!

2 freezes in today's daily at Birkdale, each time as I was picking my ball up out of the cup after a birdie putt. Very strange IMO.

For what it's worth I was slightly over par on the front side both times. From what little I got to play those greens were killer.

Just curious how you were doing with this Orthostud, before the disconnection?
I was 3 holes in on the first disconnect and was at -1

I got through 2 holes on the second try and was even.

Not sure what is up lately but I had 2 disconnects again today at Birkdale!! Whats killing me is that I was 9 holes in on the first DC and then didnt get past the first hole on the second. This is getting very old very fast!! :(

I posted in this thread about it yesterday or the day before. Crap I just gave the spot to Rally. I am sure someone else will drop soon or else I'll do an audit of players when I get back from my golf trip and see if anyone has not actively participated.
Just giving you a hard time. This thread is really hard to keep up with if you're not in the CC.

Can't get out of the HSG mentality. :? which explains why I am always stuck in mediocrity and miss the easy putts. Your way of thinking in the greens is the way to go. Gotta slow down, gotta slow down, gotta...

Sometimes you can take too much time with short putts. I find that if I look at them too long, I can talk myself into a break that isn't there. My putting technique builds in a 3 or 4 second delay while I extend the targeting cursor out to 80 feet, on putts of 10 feet or more.

I play quickly as well, usually finishing my round in 20 minutes or less. I tried to play online with one random and the dude took a minute or so for each stinking shot and I felt as though I was being tortured. To end it off perfectly the dude quit on the 6th hole when he was down big.

Just hate people doing that. Isn't there a penalty of some sort for quitters yet?

I have a question about about how a created game looks within a "created room" in the XBox Live "Difficulty" sub-lobby in Tiger Woods 13. If you're in a "room" and someone creates a game, does that created game show up in the room, or do the other people in the room have to see that the person creating the room has disappeared and then seek to find their created game via a search?

MERACE and I played a 9 hole match last night using this method, but his mike wasn't charged so we didn't have an opportunity to discuss it. Mark, if you can comment on what you saw when I did this last night, it could perhaps point to a viable solution to the problem we're having getting head to head matches launched. It's hardly any trouble to create a room in the "Difficulty" sub-room in the main XBL Tiger 13 lobby, so if this is actually as straightforward as it seemed last night, it would be fantastic!

I probably take 28 - 30 minutes, on average to play a round by myself. It would be a good bit quicker if I hit the fast forward button more, but I tend to enjoy watching my shots play out in real time. The only exception is when I've hit a putt to far (which is more often than I'd care to admit) and I somehow think the ball will come to rest quicker and not roll by the hole as far if I fast forward it 8O

I run into the problem you're describing occasionally and it is frustrating. It's like your opponent is trying to bait you into quitting. It's only happened to me once in Tiger 13 online, but it was easily a dozen times in the little bit I played in online multiplayer in Tiger 12.

This is a disturbing trend for sure :? Royal Birkdale *seems* to be a variable in a higher number of disconnects. I had my third freeze of my Tiger 13 ownership yesterday during a Career mode round. Two of the three that I've had came during a career mode round, which are certainly more tolerable, but still not acceptable.

Oh, and one other thing I've noticed... since the patch, if I try launching Tiger 13, while I'm signed into XBL, the game freezes on the Tiger Woods 13 splash screen right after the second of what's supposed to be three "progress" dots has been displayed. I have to reboot once this happens and it happens without fail if I'm logged into XBL. I've had no problem if I sign out of my profile and XBL and launch the game. When the main menu screen prompts me to load my profile, I do it then and have no problems. Strange stuff huh? Between the freezes, drops, and Career mode Live Weather issues alone, this game needs another patch!
