Sens strike first.

I'll be surprised if NYR loses round 1 but won't be that they don't reach the finals. They have virtually no star players other than the goalie. If it wasn't for the HBO show, I wouldn't hardly know any of their players except for Hank.

Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik?

I'm really hoping they lose though because they have killed the Flyers this year.

Looks like they'll pull it out. The way the Flyers PP is working, i'm not sure anyone can beat them.

God help me, this Hawks game is like watching Liverpool play! Chance after chance with nothing to show for it except frustration.

Add R. Callahan. He's been their most consistent player for the past couple of years.

I look at all the teams in the West that are out of the playoffs and they are all rather skilled teams. It's a worrisome trend as CHI won't come back to beat this tough, trapping Yotes teams. Dare I say, the era of the holding, grabbing and just boring hockey maybe back.

A NY/PHI series would have the NHL sporting wood. After the HBO series it would be watched by a lot of fans. The only thing that NY wowed me with this year was Lundqvist. He single handedly won a couple games vs. the Flyers. I love the way Callahan plays. That series is still just a pipe dream...gotta take care of the business at hand.

Credit where due, the Hawks home broadcast team spent the last 4 minutes of the game calling out the front office in unbelievably clear terms. In a world of yes-men and cheerleaders, it was pretty cool to hear two guys calmly and rationally pick apart the roster construction. Jerry Reinsdorf would have fired them before the post-game handshake was done.

What did they say? I guess one would be find a goalie who knows how to close his legs?

It was a fitting end to a 4-0 debacle at home.

They said what many folks have been saying for awhile, that the Hawks have a gapping hole in their top 6 and haven't had a proper second line center in years.

As well as stating that you cannot win anything when your PowerPlay goes 1-19 in the series.

Kings and Nashville have done ok with a crappy powerplay. I just think Chicago got beat by Mike Smith he was just unbelievable and id go as far as to say a level above the way the other goalies have been playing and in the west thats saying something.
Should be interesting to see which team grinds its way out of this pack. If the Kings can play like they did in the 3rd period and OT of the last game i like their chances against any of them .
Can Phoenix stay that disciplined for another series?

Any team that allows 10 goals in a game isn't all that scary to me.

If you like to watch paint dry, this may be your cup of tea. Considering how the officitiacing brought back the non obstruction and non interference calls after the trade deadline, the league seems to have veered back towards a defensive scheme. Just look at the remaining teams in the west, all strong, stingy teams, look at all the skilled teams out in the 1st round.

Both match ups in the west will be low scoring affairs. Chest matches at its best. I'll still watch, but I am worried that the TV ratings will be spinning downwards in a rush.

I can't name you one player on Nashville unless I lookup their roster on the net. Off the top of my head the only name that comes to mind is 'Ratt' (?????).

Phoenix-Nashville are offensive teams compared to STL and LA.

I'm not sure if it's obstruction really, just teams collapse defensively and never commit numbers forward.

Suter-Weber is probably the best defensive pair in the NHL, and Rinne is a great goalie.

Scoring won't be high, but it won't be high with STL - LA either.. should be exciting end to end action though. For me, I'd rather watch that then 10-5 games.. but that's just me.

Any idea when the Blues v Kings schedule will be released. I actually bought tickets for game 4 today, but it's TBA. Roll blues!

As Second City Hockey says, the PP is f*cking clownshoes. Not sure how a team with that many skilled players gets such awful results.

Game 7's the next 2 days, then Round 2 starts on Friday.

Interesting that Luongo wants to waive his no trade clause now. I would be gone too, looks like Croy is their goalie for the future.

Well, he's not back up material anywhere. Clearly management thinks that Schneider is the next #1 in Lotus land, and the question was whether he would wave the NTC. It's not like he's asking for a trade anytime soon. In fact, he's been handling the whole scenario as a true pro, no selfishness, no pouting when he was told that he wouldn't start game 3 and remember, goaltending wasn't an issue at all during the series with LA. I wish him the best.

Well, Gerber headquarters is in New Jersey so maybe Luongo will go to the Devils. :P
