Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Not exactly a ballsy prediction, though. This isn't an anomaly. When Melo was hurt, the Knicks were strong under D'Antoni. When STAT was hurt, they were strong under Woodson. They've been shite most of the season when both are healthy and playing.
Of course, the front office is too stupid or too proud to admit that. So both Melo and STAT will stay next season, and mediocrity will continue, regardless of whom is coaching.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Hellova season for Steve Nash (gobble gobble PK)...taking a bunch of role players to the brink of the playoffs...ultimately coming up a game or two short. Probably one of his finest seasons given the talent he had to work with...and at 38 years old. Ridiculously impressive.
If he leaves Phoenix, then I wish him well of course, but I really think he and Hill will be back next year. Pick up a few more consistent role players and give it another shot. They probably won't be contenders in the next couple of years, but they can certainly make the playoffs, even in the packed Western Conference. Until next year.

The Knicks should tank this game tonight (and their next one). I'd rather play Chicago round 1 than Miami given the choice. Chicago is pretty banged up.

Doesn't matter. The Knicks won't beat either Miami or Chicago if Melo and STAT are on the floor at the same time, regardless of Chicago's team health.greggsand wrote:The Knicks should tank this game tonight (and their next one). This sounds cold, but the Knicks would have been a more dangerous team in the playoffs if Stoudemire was on the shelf for the season due to his back.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
If any team will let the woeful Bobcats end a 23-game losing streak and avoid the worst winning percentage ever, it's the Knicks.
I would rather see the Bulls play the Knicks in round one as well, both for the rivalry and also because Philly is a better team defensively. I'd rather have Rose get a tune up against New York than try to find his rhythm against a tough Sixers defense.

Awful to see Rose go down with a knee injury. Hope that MRI is negative, but even so, he's probably out for a while.

Rachel Nichols tweeted that several sources are indicating it's a torn ACL/MCL. Bad news for the Bulls. The Heat's road to the Finals just became quite smooth.Brando70 wrote:Awful to see Rose go down with a knee injury. Hope that MRI is negative, but even so, he's probably out for a while.

The Knicks are a disgrace. Miami can warm up its brooms now.

Well at least the bulls fans don't have to worry about competing next year either now. And wow the Knicks are proving me right every step of the way this year. They won't get swept cuz Melo can win at least one game by himself but it really won't be competitive.

Exactly. The Knicks will steal one game at the Garden. That's it.dbdynsty25 wrote:Well at least the bulls fans don't have to worry about competing next year either now. The Eastern Conference playoffs are officially a joke with Rose's injury. Miami can pass Go, collect its $200 and move to the Finals right now.

You're probably right about the east, but I have some weird feeling Boston might it interesting.pk500 wrote:Exactly. The Knicks will steal one game at the Garden. If they meet the Celtics that's the only team that can deny them from the Finals. But if they get there, without much real competition going thru the east, the West should roll them.

The Celtics are it...if one team is stoked about the injuries it's them. Makes their road a bit easier and less wear and tear on their old ass bodies.Lancer wrote:If they meet the Celtics that's the only team that can deny them from the Finals. I also don't think the west representative is gonna roll the Heat. Everyone is just so average that I think each of the west teams will just beat the crap out of each other through the entire playoffs (exhibit A, today's OKC/Dallas dogfight). I personally think, barring injury to one of the big three in South Beach...they will win it all regardless.
Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
I don't get the anointing of Miami. They are the favorite for sure with Rose out, but they have hardly looked invincible this season. They have a shitty coach and have shown the ability to shoot themselves in the foot on multiple occasions.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
They have looked beatable, but losing a game or 2 doesn't equate a 7 game series with home court. In that light, they do look invincible. I'd be curious to know who you think could beat them in 7 (ESP in the east)??? No one other than the bulls before rose went down.Brando70 wrote:I don't get the anointing of Miami. Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Holy sh*t that Clipper/Grizzly game was ridiculous. The stones on those Clippers just not rolling over and giving up. Happens too often in the NBA (see Knicks, New York) so it's good to see a team get after it even when down 24 in the 4th w/ 8 min. to go. Wow.
Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
In the East, probably no one. The Bulls have an outside chance even without Rose because they can play such good defense and because of Thibodeau, but realistically the Heat should make the finals. But I think the top 3 Western seeds can beat them, especially since the Spurs and Thunder would have home court. The Heat have underachieved all year. Favorites? Yes. Lock? No.greggsand wrote:They have looked beatable, but losing a game or 2 doesn't equate a 7 game series with home court. In that light, they do look invincible. The Spurs? No way...not nearly athletic enough to hang with the Heat. Thunder, absolutely. But I think that's the only team that has a shot.
Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
I don't know, the Lakers were smothering the more athletic Nuggets with their big front line.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Thunder may be a better team but the Nuggets are pretty athletic. Faried and McGee can play above the rim pretty well.
I think the Lakers front line, if allowed to play physical would make things difficult for almost any team, including the Thunder.
I'm not saying Lakers will win, just that driving into the lane against them would be difficult, depending on how the games are called. While Bynum was getting all those blocks, in another game, he might be getting into foul trouble defending the rim too.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
I wouldn't count on Bynum for anything. Supremely talented, but a complete crap shoot. He could take a bit of a sandwich and injure his knee, or he could absolutely destroy a 5'8 point guard for no reason and get suspended for a few games. All are possibilities in the mind/body of Bynum.wco81 wrote:While Bynum was getting all those blocks, in another game, he might be getting into foul trouble defending the rim too.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
So amare is now punching fire extinguishers and cutting his hand in the locker room? Sounds to me like a fight rather than an act of anger. At least the Knicks are composed.
Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Knicks should have never made that trade for Melo last year. 14 months later and they look like such s***.
