TW 13? It's worth $70. This is the best multi-platform sports game of this annual cycle, hands down. Better than FIFA 12. Better than Madden 12. Better than NBA 2K12.

Just look at how many DSPers are playing this game nightly. TW 13 country clubs host 25 players, yet we still have a waiting list for DSP CC.

'Nuff said.
Pk how is offline? Last year offline was awesome. Maybe I'll try some online this year.

Dan - you have a onl dsp league started or something?

Is it just when you play at Augusta? Last year there were limitations on what you could wear there.

At Augusta your clothing is the default of whatever your sponser currently is, my outfit was all red with Cleveland Golf as my sponsor.

For some reason, AN wanted generic golf outfits as default when playing Augusta....I know....

Reading some of this reminded me--I bought the standard version and wanted the CE (they didn't have any). But the Gamestop manager here loves me (I give them way too much $$$), so when she got a CE in, she called and made a straight swap for me. Point of the story is I have an unused Online Pass code if somebody needs it, since I used the first one and didn't need the CE code I got.

I don't know what happened, but I can no longer hit a straight shot. I'm pushing everything right. :( I had no problem with the thumbstick up until last night, and now I can't seem to get my stoke back. Very frustrating...

You're not the only one. Haven't touched the game for a couple of days and I was hooking most of my shots tonight. Through 3 rounds, I absolutely sucked Hoover as I found myself in the tall bushes of Augusta a few times. Pretty close to throwing my controller a few times today, but I am a sadist as I am still enjoying the game very much.

I'll just sit back, relax and enjoy the top four dudes in what seems like an exciting finish. Good numbers guys.

I went +3, +4 and Even. Actually some of my best rounds just got some bad bounces on those Augusta greens. Pretty much tore up Amen corner for 3 rouns playing it -2, -1 and -1. The holes that kill me are 9 and 16.

It's nice knowing I can play so good for me and still be 15 shots off the lead. Well just trying to finish in the top 10 for some points now.

I am so disappointed right now that I am without words. Got up early this morning before my weekly long run and wanted to get a few rounds in before the sun comes up. I played the daily tournament at Whistling Straits to warm-up for round 2 of our Masters tournament. Good to go right?

I complete the warm-up round and get to Augusta and am fired up for some Majors action. I complete the first hole at par and as I reach down to pick my ball up out of the cup my console freezes. I can't get to the dashboard, I can't bring up a friends list, nothing. After rebooting the system I am now ineligible to compete in the remaining rounds of our Masters tournament. I'm at borderline pissed off levels right now, really.

Sorry Wilks, I feel your pain. Mine froze up after 14 in the daily last night and I was -1 at the time.

My second round at Augusta went pretty well. I had 7 birdies on the back nine but then proceeded to bogey the last hole. I also missed an easy 7 foot eagle putt - left it 4 inches short. I almost started to cry. So am -8 after two rounds.

Hope they clear up the freeze issues and hazard bugs. This game could easily be one of my favorites all time.

I know the feeling. Happened to me in the Play the Pros event at Augusta yesterday. Until EA addresses some of these random freezes, I suggest we have tournaments that have single submission but 2 tries for each round and rely on the honor system. This way we can all play and if we get frozen twice in a tournament and can't continue, then maybe it was not meant to be. I hate the freezes and I feel it as well as you guys. Does this suggestion make sense and seem fair?

Hmmm, yeah I just got kicked from the daily with a lockup myself. It also could be because I had just 3-putted from 4 feet and it was kicking me out.

You will never convince me of this. The swing mechanic in 13 is the best I have ever played including Links 2004. The Random landing circles in 11 & 12 made the swing artificially difficult and not at all user controllable as well as being downright unfair at times. The swing in 13 rewards you for executing a good shot as well as penalizing for a poor one. Unlike 11, the execution of the swing is everything and when you begin to groove your swing, you will then figure out how to use tempo to get the shot results you are looking for.

As stated above...when have you ever seen a 41 page thread about TW here? Never, not even close.
First, as I stated, the thread enabled me. I rented the game and then decided to buy it the same day. Played it until late last night. I'm enjoying the game a ton.

But I still feel like I am fighting the game to some degree that was just never the case two years ago. Yes, the new swing mechanic renders the random drop circles irrelevant. But the random drop circles was something YOU championed back then because they helped differentiate golfers, and eliminated the ability to just use math to hit perfect shots. The reality is, when you hit a drive in real life, there is a pretty large area that you assume it will drop. The better you are the smaller that area is.

This year's game gets rid of the %'s and the swing mechanic is sensitive enough that we still get enough randomness that the circle is not needed. I do really, really like that. But I hit plenty of bad shots in TW 11, and shooting under par was a challenge for me.

Shooting under par is a bigger challenge for me in this year's game, but it feels cheaper. I'm sending wedge shots over the green without understanding why at all. Putting feels random, but the greens are so much stickier. When I hit a putt, it easily stops. I miss the sense of fear that my ball will hit a slope and roll away. I'm not using the meter, but finding a good pace is just guesswork. So missing putts feels more random than dangerous. The short game in TW 11 just had a better feel to it than this year's game.

When I use a pro on Tournament difficulty and Expert swing, I am hitting every single Fairway, and nearly every single green in regulation. It's when I lay up close to the green that all hell breaks loose.

So last night I decided to head o the practice facility to get my shots down. Low and behold, you need the CE to hit balls at the range! I wanted the CE but Gamestop was out. So I paid for the CE via DLC, but that is just freaking bullshit. They put in a new swing mechanic, but then hide practice mode behind DLC or the premium edition?

So far, without having to put a single point into power, my CAG is hitting 275 yard drives, and I could improve on this if I could learn the tempo. I'm playing with meters turned off which, thanks to PK, I have found easier than with meters turned on. I'm sorry, but that is just dumb. I wanted to use the meters for awhile last night to just get the tempo down, and they are of no use, and made the game harder.

I'm not finding that it is as intuitive to hit draws and fades. In TW 11, I could set up my shot and used draws and fades to enhance my landings. Maybe I will find something in the manual that will explain this. I saw something that said you have to do it via the the swing. But all I do is push it left or right, not bend it.

I think there is a great golf game buried in here, and despite these complaints, I'm enjoying the game. Mostly, I find the game fun and engaging. It's just that it is less so than I found TW 11. But the pull of the new online stuff is pretty great. The new swing mechanic is well done.

But Divot, spare me the sales pitch crap you serve up every year. I bought into it with TW 10 and TW 11. But when taking all of your comments into context, you jut come off as a shill. There were plenty of impressions here that enabled me to buy the game. But what you say now does not match up with what you have said in the past. You make me want to hate this game, honestly. But there are a ton more honest impressions here that are much more influential.

So you resort to personal attacks to make your point and blame me for everything. Wow....freaking unbelievable. To be perfectly f***in blunt, I have done LESS for this version in the way of promoting the features and gameplay and more reading comments (mostly positive) from others here which has not been the case at all in the 360/PS3 era. I have played a great deal more of this game than you have, but my comments are those of a shill? Why not flip the bird at everyone else here while you are at it?

So you will excuse me while I take your personal attacks and flush them down the shitter along with everything else you have to say towards me.

Once the game mechanic is learned (and EA does a terrible job of explaining it) you'll find that chips, pitching, mid-range approach shots, putting, etc all make perfect sense. My only beef, if I have any at all, is that it's too easy to hit drives down the fairway 300 yards. Sure, if you're going for "perfect" tempo and "perfect" power you may be errant due to trying jam the analog stick up too fast. However, if you're willing to settle (for the lack of a better term) with slow tempo, you're down the fairway roughly 300 yards depending on wind and elevation gain.

I got the freeze playing the pros too, after sinking a birdie putt to go -2 on hole #6. UGH!

That's what I'm finding. It make playing with one of the Pro golfers crazy easy.

This is a little like the tuned clubs in TW 11. You needed to tune your clubs for more distance and workability to get the best shots, but that reduced the sweet spot enough to cause more errant shots. But if you just stuck with basic clubs and sacrificed some power and workability, it was crazy easy to hit every fairway. I actually viewed tuning clubs as kind of difficulty slider, as I figured out what percentage sweet spots produced realistic sweet spots. It wasn't about better performance, but increased realism.

It seems like trying to hit perfect tempo is kind of the same. I have not delved into the practice facility, which is where the club tuning was done. Is that in this game?

Through over 70 rounds I'm glad I've had no freezes or even any issues when playing online. This is one of the few sports games I've played where I've had almost no issues with the gameplay. One thing I do not like, and is perhaps able to be patched, is the ball physics on the green. Perhaps it's an animation issue more than a physics issue, but the ball does seem to abruptly stop at times in an unrealistic manner. Also, I hate it when the ball suddenly stops almost half over the cup. There's something odd about the momentum of the ball sometimes. Other than that little quibble TW`13 is unparalleled IMO when it comes to the history of console golf games. I literally do not want to stop playing once I start each day. Usually I just do career type stuff in sports games, but in TW13 I'm also doing all my daily club tourneys (my club is in the top 15) and trying to fit in some of the worldwide online weeklies and dailies. Being able to use my CAG in all the modes is very cool. It's fun to build up the CAG and watch him get better. I hope that EA decides to stay the course with future iterations of TW and hopefully improve the Country Club features and add more courses to the base game next year.
