Leave it to Dan LeBaturd to nail it on the wall.

Even if Miami Dolphins get Matt Flynn, questions linger
"So this is where the weary, withering Dolphins fan base finds itself today, not merely settling for someone who isn’t Peyton Manning but rooting for a best-case scenario that is merely Plan B … because nobody wants to even think about whatever the alternative is to Flynn.

Manning had to be run off at least in part by the instability at the top of Miami’s organization. Or should we call it disorganization? For a decade, the Dolphins have been like a Russian nesting doll of rebuilding. Crack it open, and you find yet more rebuilding. Flynn is to Philbin what A.J. Feeley was to Dave Wannstedt, and John Beck was to Cam Cameron, and Daunte Culpepper was to Nick Saban, and Chad Henne was to Tony Sparano. The previous sentence is the most efficient explanation possible for how the Dolphins have gone more than a decade without winning a playoff game."

All the mismatched blueprints are why Ted Ginn was scoring touchdowns last year in San Francisco and Brandon Marshall will be scoring them next season in Chicago, the new leader always trying to make his mark by acting as janitor for the old leader. Poor Philbin, in a passing league, has been left a bunch of beefy linemen who are remnants of a bygone era, like an archeologist happening upon bones left by dinosaur Parcells. So now he attempts to bring in his guy, Flynn, but it is nearly impossible to know exactly what he is.

Manningham made some big catches in the post-season but he wasn't consistent throughout the season. Guess Lloyd would have cost more to sign.

Peyton is going to have to choose between money or the best chance to win because the Broncos definitely can offer him a lot more money.

The Broncos won a playoff game last year with Tebow at qb. Why wouldnt Manning have a chance to win in Denver?

Something tells me that whenever Peyton meets the 49'ers top brass and talks start to roll, he won't be leaving the city without a contract.

When you throw in that Smith visiting other teams, it is looking pretty bad.

I still have hope that he will do the right thing by me and sign in the AFC.

How ironic that Stephen Ross got neither Harbaugh or Manning and they may both wind up on the same team. :P

Steve Young is right that the Niners are what he's looking for. They are ready to win now, not in a 2 or 3 years. If Manning doesn't pick the niners, then I'm not sure he really wants to win at this point of his career.

As for Manningham, that signing came out of nowhere. You got to be thinking he got some inside info from Eli that Peyton's going there. But if they get Manning , they need one more good WR. I don't know who else is out there to sign.

I'm surprised nobody has gone after Mike Wallace. He's cost a first round pick but he's at least as good as any WR in the draft.

At least I give the FO credit for not overpaying. But the bigger question is will David Gerrard or Alex Smith get signed. And you guys wonder why the FO of the Dolphins is such a joke? I think the best value right now is letting Matt Moore play in his last year of the contract. The team has a lot of needs besides QB.

The dolphins should stick with Matt Moore. I love that guy. He's got a ton of upside and he can carry the team of slot receivers. Let's go Fins!

Seahawks get their man for less guaranteed money than the Cardinals paid Kolb last year, and they didn't have to give up an asset to get him. Although unproven, I think Flynn will fit just fine with P. Carroll's offensive scheme. T. Jackson was mediocre at best last year although he had to battle with a pec injury that affected him for half of the season. With Lynch and Bryant resigned, this is an upgrade for SEA who seem to like former GB Packers QB's.

Teams have a lot more time for that. He's already been tendered by the Steelers. Teams have until April 20 to sign RFAs. They get all their UFA stuff done, then look to see if they can afford the restricted guys.

I also think a lot of teams are reluctant to give up that draft pick, too. You're essentially using a draft pick for the right to sign a guy to an FA contract. If he doesn't sign an extension with Pittsburgh, he'll be available next year as a UFA.

Look at the bright side, pretty good chance they'll have a top-5 pick in 2013.

"Clark was referring to his decision in 2010 to stay with the Steelers in lieu of joining the Dolphins. So what’s the issue? Clark later says, “It’s my honest opinion. Not a good guy making decisions.” Here’s referring, presumably, to G.M. Jeff Ireland."

Like I said and i'm just parroting Dan LeBaturd, the Dolphins FO is a mess. And if you think it's just Ireland making decisions guess again. Carl Peterson has his hands in the cookie jar as well. I think Parcells may have seen this stuff happening himself and decided to take his money and leave.

Now for the good news. So according to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have made an offer to Alex Smith. Pass the gun DB. :)

Supposedly they were trying to lowball Flynn.

Why bother with Smith? He's not going to be better than Moore.

Well after missing out this year, the Dolphins should be in good shape to draft Matt Barkley next year.

I can't see them spening $8 million a year to sign Smith when at best, he is a minor upgrade over Moore. I just hope Manning doesn't sign with denver, because I could see the fins grabbing Tebow. Although he might be better than David Garrard.

It's pretty ironic, all those years with Marino and their defense was crap. Not they have a very good defense, and they can't find one idiot to throw the ball down field.

Rick
That last guy to come close to rebuilding the team via the draft and even then it was mostly defense was Jimmy Johnson. Dave Pornstache and Rick Speilman, set the team back with the we're just 2 or 3 players away. Then Saban comes in and did no better in the draft. Cam Cameron was an absolute failure although I give him credit for NOT drafting Brady Quinn.

The problem the last 10-15 years has been the FO and their decisions. Acquiring AJ Feeley was the icing on the cake. Good lord, what a find huh?

And since the FO still continues to suck we'll continue to have personnel problems. I have little doubt Marshall will light it up next year. Miami is like the black hole for player performance. Bring them in and they suck, let them leave and they play good again.

Wow I thought he would have went with the 9'ers. Well you know that now means Smith just said FU to the Dolphins. At least there's one positive. :)
