You do realize you're arguing with a guy who jumped on the Tebow bandwagon so fast last year that I forgot he was even a Dolphin fan until this thread. Why waste your time?

I'm not sure. I've never met a fan of a team that just wants them to be average at best. That's just new to me I guess. Fascinating really.

What should that have anything to do with me liking Tebow, seriously Dan? You do realize I live 3 hours from Gainsville, it's Gator Country in my neck of the woods and I like the kid as a person so I root for him.

And contrary to popular beliefs I was not arguing with DB. He knows sports better than most on this board. But I love my Dolphins and i'm passionate about them just as much as he is even though he's 2-3K miles away.

I've been through this crap before with selling the farm for the next promised Marino in AJ Feeley etc, been there done that. I'm not sold on the Flynn situation especially when you have a FO who pays two 2nd rounders for a WR and ships him off after the 2nd year for two 3rders. You have an owner who back stabs his coach and turns the GM against the HC by going after Harbaugh.

If I had confidence the Dolphins FO had a fecking clue what they were doing i'd be OK with Flynn but i'm not. They couldn't land Fisher so they got Philbin because of his connections with Flynn. The Dolphins standard operating procedure for at least the last 10 years has been desperation. Which is why we sold a ton of picks for players like Junior Seau, Joey Porter and the list goes on. Rickey Williams probably worked out the best until he went Ricky in 2004.

With the Williams deal, while that is a ridiculous amount of money, keep in mind that Julius Peppers got $90 million with $42 guaranteed two years ago. He was already 30 when he signed that deal. Marquee pass rushers command QB-type money in free agency because they are so rarely FAs while still in their prime and every team could use one. I think if you were going to give someone a contract like that, Williams is about as good of a candidate as you'll find.

Well Manning officially told the Dolphins that he isn't coming to South beach.

Start printing up the "Win with Flynn" t-shirts.

I think that's a lot of money to tie up with one player.

That contract will make it harder to upgrade the most important position, which is QB. We see how overrated the DL is to a team when you look at the Detroit Lions. They can get after the QB but they can't defend the run or the pass, give up tons of points. Are they going to give Suh $50 million in a year or two as well? Then they'll have tied huge money to Stafford, CJ and Suh and the rest of that team will be inferior.

The big players in early free agency are the Bucs, Jags and Bills, so teams which had bad seasons are trying to raise fan interest with these splashy signings. Not surprising but I thought Jags and Bills were talking about moving because they didn't sell enough tickets.

If the Dolphins sign Tebow, not only will I quit rooting for the Dolphins, I'll be done with the NFL altogether!

Where did you read the Bills were interested in moving? That's news to me -- because it's bullsh*t.

why all this visceral hate for Tebow? Did he steal, rob, or rape someone in your families? Don't understand it.

I hate him as a football player (specifically QB). That's it...he's a fine and dandy human being.

He might be the most overrated player in the NFL. Other than that, he's a swell guy.

DT not the same as DE. As for defensive lines being overrated, the NY Giants would like to have a word with you. Also, Bills signed Fitzpatrick to an extension, so they are not shopping for a QB.

It makes sense when you consider the division. The Pats remain the team to beat as long as Brady remains a top QB. The most effective way he has been neutralized over the years is to pressure him from the front four. I'm not saying it's going to work, but I can understand the move. And a great DE can make a bigger impact on a defense than any position outside of middle linebacker.

Agree.

The Giants DL was the biggest reason the Pats never got that perfect season a few years ago and they were a big part of Giants SB win this year.

You really have to wonder sometimes what people are actually watching.

The Dolphins offense is going to suck next year...but they have made some good moves on defense this week.

Maybe the Bills aren't considering moving but aren't they trying to cultivate a fan base in Toronto?

That doesn't sound like something a team with great ticket sales would do.

As for the DL dominating, the Giants built up a DL through the draft, didn't have to commit big money. Even still, I heard they're way over the cap so they're going to lose one or two of their starters on the DL. But their success is also based on Eli's play and key players emerging unexpectedly, Bradshaw for the first SB win over the Pats and this year, Cruz.

Certainly the Bills defense needs a lot of improvement. They were putting up a lot of points earlier in the year but also giving up a lot, so that's fine. Fitzpatrick's play declined after signing the extension IIRC. So if the Bills wanted to change QB, then the big contract for Williams could hamper them.

Like I said, a lot of these FA signings by teams which had bad seasons seem to at least be driven by PR considerations, not necessarily the best approach to improving the teams.

49ers may throw their hat into the Peyton sweepstakes ring.

Yes!!!!

Wish they'd also look at Flynn as an alternative too.

Manningham signs with the Niners. Maybe this will persuade Peyton more.

Steve Young says Manning to the Niners is a done deal.
