Yup definitely. My wife has my old iPad 2 in white now and just looking at them side by side the black just looks more high end.Diablo25 wrote:That is why I went with white with the iPad 2. I also don't care what they say but the battery life...even on wifi is worse on the new iPad compared to the old one. I think they quoted an hour less time but it seems to be about 25% less. Wifey and I are playing with both of them constantly the last two days and I've had to charge twice and she just now plugged in.
Guess that graphics processor and screen really do eat up some power. Its not a big deal as it still better than most other tablets it's just something to note.

Funny, I was just thinking how much better the battery seems than my iPad 1. Prob depends on what kind of apps you're running, screen brightness, etc. I've been using mine most of the day and only at 68%.dbdynsty25 wrote:I also don't care what they say but the battery life...even on wifi is worse on the new iPad compared to the old one. Picked up a dark grey smart cover along with an overpriced Belkin back shield (clear) from Target that's desgned for the iPad 2. However, it works absolutely perfectly with the new iPad! I had the slightest of scratches already and had to get something to protect the back.

Yeah. That Belkin is actually perfect. I have one for the iPad 2 that the wife is using and it fits...tho it's pretty tight. And dark grey smart cover is where it's at. Well, I just got my notice that my new iPad has been shipped. Not arriving until the 26th though.
Re: Apple and Macs: New products, iMacs, iWork, iLife
I feel the 1 had better battery life than the 2. Until iOS 5 came around then it really nerfed the 1 booth in speed and battery life.dbdynsty25 wrote:Never had an iPad 1. So who knows. Damn, I just had my one to one lesson and on the way out they told me that they still had the new ipad 64GB Wi-Fi only version which is what I pre-ordered but since it's being shipped, I can't cancel it without already being charged to my card. I guess, I'll just simply have to wait one more week.

I was at Best Buy and they told me that didn't fit the new iPad nor did the Rocket fish one. I have the dark grey smart cover as well. I really liked the Quirky cover I ahd for my iPad 1 I could stand it up in any configuration. Maybe I don;tg get how the smart covers work but I miss being able to stand it up.dbdynsty25 wrote:Yeah. Well they are flat out wrong because my Belkin from my 2 fits perfectly. I don't know how much more I can do for you.Danimal wrote:I was at Best Buy and they told me that didn't fit the new iPad nor did the Rocket fish one.

The Belkin rear cover from my iPad 2 works just fine on my new iPad 64 GB/AT&T.....Danimal wrote:

From what I've read, Belkin is going to make a back shield specifically designed for the new iPad. They're not in the stores yet, but I heard that you can order them via Amazon.
I do think the current Belkin shield fits just about perfectly, with the exception of it maybe being just a tad smaller and having a slightly tighter fit.

Apple sold 3 million iPads over the weekend.
Ridiculous numbers...

It sounds like you guys are looking for something to prevent scratches and the occasional thump, so this may not interest you, but I absolutely love my iPad 2 Book Back from Dodocase. I'm going to order one for my iPad 3rd Gen this week. It provides the perfect grip without adding any bulk like a normal case.
This, along with the Apple Magnetic cover is all I've ever used with my iPad 2 and it's been a great combo. But if you are prone to dropping or banging the device, this is clearly not the best option.

Oh that is really cool. How's the adhesion? Does it eventually start peeling off? My concern is putting it in and out of my bag w/ my macbook air is going to start to peel it off, but it looks cool for sure. I only need something on the back to prevent scratches as you mentioned...I'm not worried about drop protection or anything so this looks perfect. May just order one anyway.Leadfoot5 wrote:It sounds like you guys are looking for something to prevent scratches and the occasional thump, so this may not interest you, but I absolutely love my iPad 2 Book Back from Dodocase. The adhesion has been perfect. No issue at all. That being said, the iPad stays in my house, and doesn't get dropped into a bag every day. Gives the device a great feel and protects it from scratches....dbdynsty25 wrote:Oh that is really cool. How's the adhesion? Does it eventually start peeling off? Re: Apple and Macs: New products, iMacs, iWork, iLife
Watched a few videos on Youtube on the product and I ordered one. I want minimal bulk so it looks perfect. At 25 bucks, buying one every six months or so is fine with me if it starts to peel a bit. I'll just have to be a little more deliberate putting it in the bag. I only do it twice a day to and from work, so it's not that bad. I like the look of it...so we'll see. Thanks again for the idea. Should have it in a few days.Leadfoot5 wrote:The adhesion has been perfect. No issue at all. That being said, the iPad stays in my house, and doesn't get dropped into a bag every day. Why didn't you guys try the military shield? That thing has a lifetime guarantee. Since i'm considering a 3rd gen ipad, doesn't the smart cover offer back cover protection?

Uhhh...the smart cover has never offered back protection. That's why we're trying to find things that do. The goal is to keep the thing as minimal as possible all while still protecting the back of it from scrapes. Hence the products on the last two pages.Rodster wrote:Why didn't you guys try the military shield? That thing has a lifetime guarantee. Okay but have you guys seen the militaryshield, it's a clear tough plastic? Looks like a product you guys can use.dbdynsty25 wrote:Uhhh...the smart cover has never offered back protection. This is the product I was referring to. They currently only have the screen protector but they usually sell the full body skin. http://www.amazon.com/ArmorSuit-Militar ... 28&sr=8-23

Have fun applying that. They are a pain in the ass...they use liquid to get the adhesive to work and I've got one general rule: do not spray my electronics with any solution, just to put on a screen protector/body armor.
Re: Apple and Macs: New products, iMacs, iWork, iLife
I was on Ebay bidding on a 64GB White iPad. It started out at $610. The bid is now up to $750. I don't understand people sometimes, don't they know they could get it cheaper directly from Apple and there's no question regarding warranty issues?
