I got the game so far so good.

Graphics/lighting do have a minor upgrade, players look phenomenal

new batter pitch by press left on the directional pad nice touch

bullpen added stretch and toss

analog pitching added to the gui red yellow and green for accuracy

analog fielding upgraded gui with arrows on the side of the ring large mean good accurracy small not so good

tru broadcast is nice nothing major

loving the big screen movies, I got caught stealing and the home team show a video of a character in jail.

and oh yeah the commentary is improve, they banter back and forth about player bios not as great as 2k, but it is their.

I will play a little more go work out and then chime in again.

Yes it does play similar to years before, but the smoothness of the animations and the ball physics are heaven sent. You must play it don't judge it by videos there's a weightiness to things now.

After reading impressions from people who have the game in hand, I went ahead and ordered the combo deal. Both versions sound good. Vita version plays very fast and is perfect for on the go and at work, while PS3 version has that Diamond Dynasty mode, which sounds like something down my alley. Cannot wait to get an Angels' season underway.

One thing I figured out, analog pitching, when you push up is for velocity the RED will flash when you go for speed exertion and Yellow will flash when you go for normal. Great feed back for the end-user.

Again the game has its legacy in place as far as game play goes, but boy is it a different ball game.

Put in '11 and play it for a an inning or so, and then put in '12, you will hum a different tune.

Went to camera options and guess what?

You can now set the Offense and Defense to brand new Broadcast Cameras. On Def. you get to see all the action going on just like in a TV broadcast. Really great addition.

Take a look at the double play at 3:05.

I still think Sony got screwed on this score and it smells like 2K paying to have the score tanked. Makes no sense.

What is so special about that double play? Why didn't he go to first base and why would the runner going to third base run back to second base?

Am I missing something here?

Pretty sure the double play was the result of the human player doing something dumb with the base running controls and the CPU taking advantage of that.

When can we expect the Vita version to go live on the PSN store? I'm trying to stay calm here...

Getting worried...my The Show order hasn't shipped yet. I usually get an email confirming the shipment. It would be just awesome if one of my most anticipated games of the year gets here late! Damn! :)

Which is why I'm Ordering Online w/ In Store Pickup on BestBuy.com. :)

I'm still pissed that there isn't any way to buy the PS3 version and download the Vita version for the $20 price. So stupid that they essentially FORCE you to buy the physical media. How does this make sense financially? They should get everyone and their mother to purchase the downloadable version so it eliminates the 2nd hand market. Oh well...their loss I guess. I just would love to have that game always installed on my device, but that's not worth 20 bucks to me (and another 10 or so next year when I sell it before the new version comes out).

If it doesn't go live until they update the whole store I wouldn't count on it until this evening.

Somehow Mass Effect 3 went live at 12:01am last night in the PS3 store...so I know they can do it on the fly if they want to. Obviously The Show isn't that big of a deal to them from a Vita standpoint.

Amazon decided to send me the PS3 Show, but not the Vita version on the same day -- bummer. Hopefully the Vita version will come tomorrow, however next-day shipping for Amazon this time apparently is March 8th on the Vita game. Maybe I will contact them and get a nice little credit, lol. I downloaded the update for the PS3 version, and am now doing the 20-minute install. 10 gigs, wow! Hopefully that really cuts down on the load times.

Bit the bullet and saved the 20 bucks and just got the physical copy for the Vita.

One word. HOLYSHIT!

This game is gonna be CRACK. Finally...a console experience on the handheld. Graphically, it's fantastic for a handheld, so I'm not sure where the complaints came from. I haven't played the PS3 version yet (will when I get home from work), but if the Vita version is any indication, we're in for a treat. The pulse pitching is kinda meh so far, so went back to analog, but will likely go to classic so I don't have to look at a bunch of tiny meters all over the screen.

That's pretty much my only complaint...the ball is pretty tough to pick up when hitting and the meters are pretty small. I guess thats the downside of the higher resolution 5" screen.

All in all...absolutely fantastic so far.

Per Russell @ SCEA:

The PSN issue with redeeming your online pass has been resolved for the PS3. We are looking into the Vita Online Pass voucher issue. We’ve elevated the priority to the highest possible for this type of issue, and are aggressively pursuing a solution. We truly appreciate your patience and support. For those of you trying to purchase MLB 12 The Show items from the store, the PSN team updates new content each week on Tuesday between the hours of 2pm and 6pm PST.

Sony needs to drive consistency with activating the online pass codes. Hots Shots Golf, Wipeout 2048 and now The Show does things differently.

Does the lack of replays and presentation hurt the game in any way?

I assume because it's on Quick Play, the pace is very good?

Is the size of the ball (softball appearance) bother you?

I actually didn't even notice a lack of replays in my one game. So it obviously doesn't bother me too much! I didn't even look to see if it was an option in the menus. As for the presentation, it's good enough for me. I only care about seeing my batter's stats when he walks to the plate and those are included. The rest of the cut scenes and stuff are cool at first, but I eventually try to skip past them anyway. I didn't delve into the settings too much, only to change the pitching camera to "outfield", so I'm not sure if it was on "quick play" or just normal (if there is even an option)...but the default pace was nice and quick and it moved along briskly. I think I finished my game in a half hour or so and I was walking guys all over the place messing around with the new controls.

The ball is fine...I'm glad it's as big as it is...otherwise it would be impossible to see. I have a little trouble picking it up when hitting as it is. I'll get used to it though. It is not obnoxiously big as I was fearing. I tried to not watch any videos or read any previews going into it, because I wanted to be surprised and I really thought nothing of the ball size outside of thinking it was a little big.
